The efficacy of *** adjuvant chemotherapy on biliary tract cancer after R0 resection

Background: The optimal treatment strategy for biliary tract cancer(BTC) after curative?intent resection remains con?troversial. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of fluoropyrimidine?based adjuvant chemotherapy for BTC patients undergoing microscopically margin?negative(R0) ***: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of BTC patients who underwent curative?intent R0 resection. Patients were eligible if they received either fluoropyrimidine?based adjuvant chemotherapy or observation after R0 ***: A total of 153 patients were included. In the entire patient cohort, no significant differences were observed in 5?year overall survival(OS) rates(48.4% vs. 39.6%, P = 0.439) or 3?year recurrence?free survival(RFS) rates(49.1% vs. 39.5%, P = 0.299) between patients who received fluoropyrimidine?based adjuvant chemotherapy or observation. However, for patients with stages Ⅱ and Ⅲ BTC, chemotherapy significantly improved 5?year OS rate(52.4% vs. 35.6%, P = 0.002) and 3?year RFS rate(55.5% vs. 39.1%, P = 0.021) compared with ***: Fluoropyrimidine?based adjuvant chemotherapy may prolong the survival of patients with stages Ⅱ and Ⅲ BTC after R0 resection.

Clinical significance of loss of heterozygosity for M6P/IGF2R in patients with primary hepatocellular carcinoma

AIM:To investigate the relationship between loss of heterozygosity (LOH) for mannose 6-phosphate/insulin- like growth factor 2 receptor (M6P/IGF2R) and the outcomes for primary HCC patients treated with partial hepatectomy. METHODS: The LOH for M6P/IGF2R in primary HCC patients was assessed using six different gene-specific nucleotide polymorphisms. The patients studied were enrolled to undergo partial hepatectomy. RESULTS: M6P/IGF2R was found to be polymorphic in 73.3% (22/30) of the patients, and of these patients, 50.0% (11/22) had tumors showing LOH in M6P/IGF2R. Loss of heterozygosity in M6P/IGF2R was associated with significant reductions in the two year overall survival rate (24.9% vs 65.5%; P = 0.04) and the disease-free survival rate (17.8% vs 59.3%; P = 0.03). CONCLUSION: These results show M6P/IGF2R LOH predicts poor clinical outcomes in surgically resected primary HCC patients.

背景与目的胆道癌(biliary tract cancer,BTC)根治性切除术后的最佳治疗方案仍存有争议。本研究旨在评价以氟嘧啶为基础的辅助化疗对显微镜下切缘阴性(R0)切除BTC患者的疗效。方法回顾分析行根治性R0切除的BTC患者的临床资料。将R0切除术后接受以氟嘧啶为基础的辅助化疗或单纯R0切除的患者纳入本研究。结果本研究共纳入153例患者。对于全体患者,接受以氟嘧啶为基础的辅助化疗组患者与对照组患者的5年总生存(overall survival,OS)率(48.4%vs. 39.6%,P=0.439)和3年无复发生存(recurrence-free survival,RFS)率(49.1%vs. 39.5%,P=0.299)无显著差异。而对于Ⅱ、Ⅲ期BTC患者,化疗组比对照组的5年OS率(52.4%vs.35.6%,P=0.002)和3年RFS率(55.5%vs. 39.1%,P=0.021)有显著提高。结论以氟嘧啶为基础的辅助化疗可延长Ⅱ、Ⅲ期BTC患者R0切除术后的生存。

Quaternary intraplate magmatism formed several volcanic islands and seamounts,including Dokdo(DD),Ulleungdo(UD),Simheungtack(ST),Anyongbok,and Isabu in the southwest of the East Sea back-arc *** this study,we present whole-rock geochemical,zircon U–Pb age,and in situ O–Hf isotope data for the submerged volcanic rocks from DD,UD,and ST to provide new insights into the eruption timing of these volcanoes and constrain the magma evolution *** samples used in this study were trachytes and exhibited ferroan,alkalic,and metaluminous to weakly peraluminous *** showed light rare earth element(REE)-enriched patterns with(La/Yb)N ratios of 25.3–31.7 and mostly negative Eu anomalies in a chondrite-normalized REE *** addition,they were enriched in large-ion lithophile elements and high field strength elements;they exhibited positive Pb anomalies and strongly negative Ba,Sr,P,and Ti *** zircons yielded a weighted-mean 206Pb/238U age of 2.61,0.348–0.704,and 2.76–2.94 Ma for the DD,UD,and ST trachytes,*** zircons exhibited lowerδ^(18)O values than normal depleted mantle values,regardless of the crystallization age and spatial distribution of ***δ^(18)O values showed no correlation with U contents or Th/U ratios,indicating that the lowδ^(18)O signatures were of primary magmatic *** Hf isotopic compositions of the zircons were relatively heterogeneous but predominately characterized by positive eHf *** O–Hf mixing modeling revealed that low-δ^(18)O rocks with positive eHf values from the UD and ST volcanoes were derived from a hybrid source of recycled juvenile crustal materials with low-δ^(18)O and positive eHf signatures and an enriched mantle source with normalδ^(18)O and negative eHf *** juvenile oceanic crust in the source was likely metasomatized by seawater at high temperatures prior to *** contrast,the felsic magma that formed the DD volcanoes may have assimilated with regional

Intrinsic hard magnetism and thermal stability of a ThMn_(12)-type permanent magnet

Herein,we theoretically demonstrate that simple metal(Ga and Al)substitutional atoms,rather than the conventional transition metal substitutional elements,not only stabilize the ThMn_(12)-type SmFe_(12) and Sm(Fe,Co)_(12)phases thermodynamically but also further improve their intrinsic magnetic properties such that they are superior to those of the widely investigated SmFe_(11)Ti and Sm(Fe,Co)_(11)Ti magnets,and even to the state-of-the-art permanent magnet Nd_(2)Fe_(14)*** specifically,the quaternary Sm(Fe,Co,Al)_(12)phase has the highest uniaxial magnetocrystalline anisotropy(MCA)of about 8 MJ m^(−3),anisotropy field of 18.2 T,and hardness parameter of 2.8 at room temperature and a Curie temperature of 764 ***,the Al and Ga substitutional atoms improve the single-domain size of the Sm(Fe,Co)_(12)grains by nearly a factor of *** results of MCA and MCA-driven hard magnetic properties can be described by the strong spin-orbit coupling and orbital angular momentum of the Sm 4f-electron orbitals.

Superior mechanical properties and strengthening mechanisms of lightweight AlxCrNbVMo refractory high-entropy alloys(x=0,0.5,1.0)fabricated by the powder metallurgy process

Light and strong AlxCrNbVMo(x=0,0.5,and 1.0)refractory high-entropy alloys(RHEAs)were designed and fabricated via a the powder metallurgical *** microstructure of the AlxCrNbVMo alloys consisted of a single BCC crystalline structure with a sub-micron grain size of 2-3μm,and small amounts(chanical properties at 25 and 1000℃compared to those of other ***,CrNbVMo alloy showed a yield strength of 2743 MPa at room ***,the yield strength of the CrNbVMo alloy at 1000℃was 1513 *** specific yield strength of the CrNbVMo alloy was increased by 27%and 87%at 25 and 1000℃,respectively,compared to the AlMo_(0.5) NbTa_(0.5)TiZr RHEA,which exhibited so far the highest specific yield strength among the cast *** addition of Al to CrNbVMo alloy was advantageous in reducing its reduce density to below 8.0 g/cm^(3),while the elastic modulus decreased due to the much lower elastic modulus of Al compared to that of the CrNbVMo *** analysis of the strengthening contributions,showed that the solid solution strengthening,arising from a large misfit effect due to the size and modulus,and the high shear modulus of matrix,was revealed to predominant strengthening mechanism,accounting for over 50%of the yield strength of the AlxCrNbVMo RHEAs.

Global parameter estimation of the Cochlodinium polykrikoides model using bioassay data

Cochlodinium polykrikoides is a notoriously harmful algal species that inflicts severe damage on the aquacultures of the coastal seas of Korea and Japan. Information on their expected movement tracks and boundaries of influence is very useful and important for the effective establishment of a reduction plan. In general, the information is supported by a red-tide（a.k.a algal bloom） model. The performance of the model is highly dependent on the accuracy of parameters, which are the coefficients of functions approximating the biological growth and loss patterns of the C. polykrikoides. These parameters have been estimated using the bioassay data composed of growth-limiting factor and net growth rate value pairs. In the case of the C. polykrikoides, the parameters are different from each other in accordance with the used data because the bioassay data are sufficient compared to the other algal species. The parameters estimated by one specific dataset can be viewed as locally-optimized because they are adjusted only by that dataset. In cases where the other one data set is used, the estimation error might be considerable. In this study, the parameters are estimated by all available data sets without the use of only one specific data set and thus can be considered globally optimized. The cost function for the optimization is defined as the integrated mean squared estimation error, i.e., the difference between the values of the experimental and estimated rates. Based on quantitative error analysis, the root-mean squared errors of the global parameters show smaller values, approximately 25%–50%, than the values of the local parameters. In addition, bias is removed completely in the case of the globally estimated parameters. The parameter sets can be used as the reference default values of a red-tide model because they are optimal and representative. In this paper,we study tidal forces in the Schwarzschild black hole,whose metric explicitly includes a generalized uncertainty principle(GUP)*** also investigate interesting features of the geodesic equations and tidal effects that are dependent on the GUP parameterαrelated to a minimum ***,by solving the geodesic deviation equations explicitly with appropriate boundary conditions,we show thatαin the effective metric affects both the radial and angular components of the geodesic equation,particularly near the singularities.

Statistical Prediction of Heavy Rain in South Korea

This study is aimed at the development of a statistical model for forecasting heavy rain in South Korea. For the 3-hour weather forecast system, the 10 km×10 km area-mean amount of rainfall at 6 stations （Seoul, Daejeon, Gangreung, （Jwangju, Busan, and Jeju） in South Korea are used. And the corresponding 45 synoptic factors generated by the numerical model are used as potential predictors. Four statistical forecast models （linear regression model, logistic regression model, neural network model and decision tree model） for the occurrence of heavy rain are based on the model output statistics （MOS） method. They are separately estimated by the same training data. The thresholds are considered to forecast the occurrence of heavy rain because the distribution of estimated values that are generated by each model is too skewed. The results of four models are compared via Heidke skill scores. As a result, the logistic regression model is recommended.
