Expression of prothymosin α predicts early recurrence and poor prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma

BACKGROUND：Prothymosinα（PTMA）is a nuclear oncoprotein-transcription factor essential for cell cycle progression and *** was overexpressed in several human malignancies including hepatocellular carcinoma（hCC）.however,the prognostic significance of PTMA protein expression in hCC remains *** the present study,we evaluated PTMA protein expression by immunohistochemistry in order to elucidate the prognostic roles of PTMA in hCC ***： By immunohistochemistry, we investigated the expression of PTMA protein in tumor tissue from 226 hCC patients who underwent curative hepatectomy. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to evaluate its predic- tive value for tumor recurrence and survival of patients. The median follow-up period was 120 months. RESULTS： PTMA expression was observed in 162 （71.7%） of the 226 hCC patients and was significantly associated with higher Edmondson grade, microvascular invasion, intrahe- patic metastasis, higher American Joint Committee on Cancer （AJCC） T-stage, and lower albumin level. PTMA expression was an independent predictor of early recurrence （P=0.001）. PTMA expression showed an unfavorable influence on recurrence- free survival （RFS）（P〈0.001）. Subgroup analysis showed that among patients with tumor size _〈5.0 cm （140 patients）, patients at AJCC T-stage I （95 patients） and patients with a-fetoprotein ≤20 ng/mL （83 patients）, the differences in RFS between PTMA- positive and PTMA-negative groups were also statistically sig- nificant （P=0.017, P=0.002 and P=0.002, respectively）. In addi- tion, PTMA expression was an independent predictor of shorter RFS （P=0.011）. PTMA expression showed an unfavorable influ- ence on overall survival （P=0.014）, but was not an independent predictor of shorter overall survival （P=0.161）. CONCLUSIONS： PTMA protein expression might be a novel predictor of early recurrence and RFS in hCC patients, even those at early stage or with a-fetoprotein-negative after curative hep

Flexibility of underground structures relative to the surrounding medium, referred to as the flexibility ratio, is an important factor that influences their dynamic interaction. This study investigates the flexibility effect of a box-shaped subway tunnel, resting directly on bedrock, on the ground surface acceleration response using a numerical model verified against dynamic centrifuge test results. A comparison of the ground surface acceleration response for tunnel models with different flexibility ratios revealed that the tunnels with different flexibility ratios influence the acceleration response at the ground surface in different ways. Tunnels with lower flexibility ratios have higher acceleration responses at short periods, whereas tunnels with higher flexibility ratios have higher acceleration responses at longer periods. The effect of the flexibility ratio on ground surface acceleration is more prominent in the high range of frequencies. Furthermore, as the flexibility ratio of the tunnel system increases, the acceleration response moves away from the free field response and shifts towards the longer periods. Therefore, the flexibility ratio of the underground tunnels influences the peak ground acceleration （PGA） at the ground surface, and may need to be considered in the seismic zonation of urban areas.

Three-dimensional (3D) host materials for lithium metal anodes (LMAs) have gained attention because they can mitigate volume expansion and local current density through their large surface area and suppress the dendritic growth of lithium. Recent research on 3D host materials has focused on conductive materials;however, the benefits of 3D host materials cannot be fully utilized because lithium deposition begins at the top of the structure. herein, we fabricate SiO_(2)-TiO_(2) composite microspheres with bimodal pore structures (bi-SiTiO) by simple spray pyrolysis. These microspheres effectively store lithium within the structure from the bottom of the electrode while preventing lithium dendrite formation. Focused ion beam-scanning transmission electron microscopy (FIB-STEM) analysis reveals that the lithiophilic properties of composite microspheres enhanced their effectiveness in storing lithium, with small pores acting as “lithium-ion sieves” for a uniform lithium-ion flux and large pores that provide sufficient volume for lithium deposition. The bi-SiTiO composite microspheres exhibit a high Coulombic efficiency of 98.5% over 200 cycles at 2.0 mA·cm^(−2) when operated in a lithium half-cell. With a high lithium loading of 5.0 mAh·cm^(−2), the symmetrical cell of the bi-SiTiO electrode sustains more than 900 h. A full cell coupled with an LiNi_(0.8)Co_(0.1)Mn_(0.1)O_(2) (NCM811) cathode also exhibits enhanced electrochemical properties in terms of cycling stability and rate capability.

Recoverable SnO_2-Based Sensors Promoted with MoO_3 and Sb_2O_3 for the Detection of DMMP

The sensitivity and the recovery behavior of SnO_2-based gas sensor prepared from a commercial SnO_2 powder were tested under the low concentration of DMMP(0.5μg/g) in the flow system at 350℃.In order to improve the sensitivity of the sensor,promoters such as NiO,Nb_2O_5,MoO_3,and Sb_2O_3 were added into SnO_2 *** sensitivities were increased up to 80% from 50% but they were not *** the SnO2-based gas sensor promoted with MoO_3 and Sb_2O_3 was recovered after detection of DMMP,although the recovery rate was *** particular,the SnO_2-based sensor promoted with 5wt% of MoO_3 and 1wt% of Sb_2O_3 simultaneously showed an complete recovery ability,though its sensitivity was 40% which was lower than that of SnO_2 gas sensor without *** ability was discussed in terms of catalytic roles of promoters.

This paper presents an experimental study investigating factors influencing the effective width of steel reinforced concrete (SRC) column-steel beam joints of building in order to calculate its resisting *** 1/2 scaled interior SRC column-steel beam joint specimens were made with considering parameters such as beam flange width,beam depth and SRC column *** directional increasing moment was applied to the joint by acting forces to each ends of beam and the structural behavior of joint was *** previous design method suggested by Deierlein was reviewed and a modified equation was proposed from the analysis of test *** result indicated that the equation to calculate the effective width in Deierlein’s design method didn’t consider effectively the influence caused by the variation of beam depth so that a modified equation was suggested and the validation of it was confirmed in this paper.

BACKGROUND Varicella zoster virus(VZV)is a human neurotropic and double-stranded DNA alpha-herpes *** infection with VZV usually occurs during childhood,manifesting as *** of latent VZV can lead to various neurological complications,including transverse myelitis(TM);although cases of the latter are very rare,particularly in newly active VZV *** SUMMARY We report here an unusual case of TM in a middle-aged adult immunocompetent patient that developed concomitant to an active VZV *** 46-year-old male presented with painful vesicular eruption on his left chest that had steadily progressed to involvement of his back over a 3-d *** fluid testing was denied,but findings from magnetic resonance imaging and collective symptomology indicated *** was administered antiviral drugs and corticosteroids immediately but his symptom improvement waxed and waned,necessitating multiple hospital *** about a month of repeated treatments,he was deemed sufficiently improved for hospital discharge to *** VZV myelitis should be suspected when a patient visits the outpatient pain clinic with herpes zoster showing neurological symptoms.

Raw scrap powders containing 10 wt.% In were recovered by sand-blasting chamber shields of sputter coaters and used as a sole source of indium components for both sieving and air-classification. Sieving was performed first as a feasibility test, and enrichment of indium component was possible up to 19 wt.% with a mesh size of 635. With this experimental basis, the raw scrap powders were air-classified into 12 lots according to the revolution per minute （r/min） of a single horizontally arranged classifying wheel： 4000, 6000, 8000, 10000, 12000, and 14000 r/rain. The particle cut size varied from 56 to 5 μm with turbo wheel speeds corresponding to 4000 to 14000 r/min, respectively, and enrichment of indium component was possible in fine overflow fractions at all turbo wheel speeds while the indium components were not concentrated in all of the coarse underflow fractions. The grade of the indium components became higher with decreasing particle size of the air-classified scrap powders, with the highest grade obtained in the fine overflow fraction with a turbo wheel speed of 14000 r/min. The amount of indium in the fine overflow fractions varied between 15.9 wt.% and 31.5 wt.%. All in all, the grade or purity of the indium component improved rather significantly from 15.9 wt.% to 31.5 wt.% by air-classification, but this also resulted in overall decrease in recovery rate from 99.33% to 49.64%. Therefore, enrichment and separation of indium should be optimized for maximum recovery and grade of the indium components, which can be used as raw materials in the subsequent electro-refining processes.
