The discovery of chirped pulse amplification has led to great improvements in laser technology,enabling energetic laser beams to be compressed to pulse durations of tens of femtoseconds and focused to a few micrometers.Protons with energies of tens of MeV can be accelerated using,for instance,target normal sheath acceleration and focused on secondary targets.Under such conditions,nuclear reactions can occur,with the production of radioisotopes suitable for medical application.The use of high-repetition lasers to produce such isotopes is competitive with conventional methods mostly based on accelerators.In this paper,we study the production of^(67)Cu,^(63)Zn,^(18)F,and^(11)C,which are currently used in positron emission tomography and other applications.At the same time,we study the reactions^(10)B(p,α)^(7)Be and^(70)Zn(p,4n)^(67)Ga to put further constraints on the proton distributions at different angles,as well as the reaction^(11)B(p,α)^(8)Be relevant for energy production.The experiment was performed at the 1 PW laser facility at VegaⅢin Salamanca,Spain.Angular distributions of radioisotopes in the forward(with respect to the laser direction)and backward directions were measured using a high purity germanium detector.Our results are in reasonable agreement with numerical estimates obtained following the approach of kimura and Bonasera[Nucl.Instrum.Methods Phys.Res.,Sect.A 637,164–170(2011)].

Endophytic bacteria of halophytic plants play essential roles in salt stress tolerance.Therefore,an understanding of the true nature of plant-microbe interactions under extreme conditions is essential.The current study aimed to identify cultivable endophytic bacteria associated with the roots and shoots of Seidlitzia rosmarinus Ehrenb.ex Boiss.grown in the salt-affected soil in Uzbekistan and to evaluate their plant beneficial traits related to plant growth stimulation and stress tolerance.Bacteria were isolated from the roots and the shoots of S.rosmarinus using culture-dependent techniques and identified by the 16S rRNA gene.RFLP(Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism)analysis was conducted to eliminate similar isolates.Results showed that the isolates from the roots of S.rosmarinus belonged to the genera Rothia,Kocuria,Pseudomonas,Staphylococcus,Paenibacillus and Brevibacterium.The bacterial isolates from the shoots of S.rosmarinus belonged to the genera Staphylococcus,Rothia,Stenotrophomonas,Brevibacterium,Halomonas,Planococcus,Planomicrobium and Pseudomonas,which differed from those of the roots.Notably,Staphylococcus,Rothia and Brevibacterium were detected in both roots and shoots,indicating possible migration of some species from roots to shoots.The root-associated bacteria showed higher levels of IAA(indole-3-acetic acid)synthesis compared with those isolated from the shoots,as well as the higher production of ACC(1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate)deaminase.Our findings suggest that halophytic plants are valuable sources for the selection of microbes with a potential to improve plant fitness under saline soils.

The use of plant materials as soil amendments is an uncommon practice amongst major farming communities in Ghana, although it is necessary for soil fertility improvement. An examination of the effects of soil amendments is necessary to encourage the use of under-utilized organic resources in Ghana. Thus, a field experiment was conducted using 8 different tropical plant materials mixed with chicken manure as soil amendments for growth of tomato as a test crop. The plant materials included Leucaena leucocephala,Centrosema pubescens, Sesbania sesban, Gliricidia sepium, Mucuna pruriens, Pueraria phaseoloides, Azadirachta indica, and Theobroma cacao. There were two other treatments: one with equivalent amounts of chemical fertilizers and the other with no-fertilizer input(control). Plant materials were mixed with chicken manure to obtain a uniform carbon-to-nitrogen(C:N) ratio of 5:1. Except the no-fertilizer control, all treatments received the same amount of nitrogen(N). To clarify the decomposition pattern of the plant materials in soil, an incubation experiment was conducted using only the plant materials before the field experiment. The Gliricidia treatment released significantly more mineral N than the other plant materials in the incubation experiment. However, the tomato fruit yield was not enhanced in the Gliricidia treatment in the field experiment. The known quality parameters of the tested plant materials, such as total N, total carbon(C), C:N ratio, and total polyphenols, had minimal effects on their mineralization dynamics.Azadirachta showed the best synergistic effect with chicken manure through significantly increasing soil microbial biomass and fruit yield of tomato. This result provides insights into the possible adoption of Azadirachta in combination with chicken manure as a soil amendment in small-scale agricultural holdings.

以胡萝卜为原料,与沙拉酱复配成质量比为6∶1(T1)、4∶1(T2)、2∶1(T3)的胡萝卜沙拉样品,以不加沙拉酱的胡萝卜为对照(CK),采用体外静态INFOGEST消化模型,评估胡萝卜沙拉中主要活性物质(β-胡萝卜素、总酚和V-C)的生物可及性和消化特性。结果显示:除CK和T3的V-C外,活性物质含量经胃消化后均急剧下降,经肠道消化后又上升;添加沙拉酱明显提高了β-胡萝卜素、总酚和V-C的稳定性和生物可及性,T3组中3种生物活性物质在模拟消化过程中较稳定,生物可及性较高;各组的平均粒径d[3,2]和粒径分布强度均先增大,在模拟胃消化阶段消化60 min时最大,随后减至最小,T3组的d[3,2]在模拟消化过程中较小(0.13~5.03μm)。可见,沙拉酱可提高胡萝卜中β-胡萝卜素、总酚和V-C的生物可及性,并具有较好的消化特性,其中以T3组效果较佳。

Numerical investigation on arching effect surrounding deep cylindrical shaft during excavation process

Predicting the inner displacements of deep vertical shafts during the excavation process has been a difficult task considering the geological,structural,and constructional influences.In fact,the two-dimensional(2d)analytical solution based on the retaining wall model remains insufficient for understanding the actual behavior during an excavation.This is because the deformation of vertical shafts becomes complicated due to the unexpected arching effect brought about by the three-dimensional(3d)flexible displacements occurring in the excavation process.Previous analytical solutions only considered the limit equilibrium.Therefore,the present study deals with a 3d soil-structure simulation by considering the displacements of a cylindrical shaft and the mechanical behavior of the surrounding soil as well as the geometry of the cylindrical structure.Moreover,this mechanical behaviors of the surrounding soil and shaft are controlled by the shaft stiffness;hence,the relationships among the shaft stiffness,mechanical behavior of the surrounding soil(in terms of earth pressure coefficient),and shaft displacement were investigated.A cylindrical model,120 m in depth and 20 m in diameter,was positioned at the center of a sand domain,and each excavation step was performed at an interval depth of 20 m.A 3d finite difference method analysis was applied using the modified Cam-Clay(MCC)model to represent the soil behavior.As a result,the present study provides a new normalized lateral earth pressure theory for excavated shafts by considering the 3d arching effect obtained from parametric studies using various levels of shaft stiffness.From a comparison with the analytical solutions of previous studies(Terzaghi,1943a;Prater,1977;Cheng&Hu,2005),it is found that the previous studies underestimated the earth pressure acting on the cylindrical shaft because they did not consider the accurate arching effect.

Investigate Targeted Factors to Achieve Prediction Goal in Stroke Convalescence in Terms of Causal Relationships of Prediction Error

Sulfate deposited on actual foliar of a broad-leaf tree was evaluated to discuss dry deposition processes by the amount rinsed out from the sampled leaves in an experimental forest in the suburbs of Tokyo. Five samples of a 20 m high-Quercus serrata tree were manually collected at four heights （6m, 10 m, 14 m, and 20 m） from a 30 m-high observation tower which routinely measures meteorological parameters at six heights, and subjected to distilled-water rinsing for ion chromatographic analysis of sulfate. The deposited amount of sulfate was normalized with leaf surface. The vertical profile of the normalized deposition showed no systematic patterns so far. The deposition of sulfate, however, was found to increase with relative humidity, which strongly suggested the wetted surface plays a key role in the deposition processes. In order to evaluate the representativeness of the sample, 153 sample leaves were collected from a single branch of the sample stand in May 2010. The distribution showed a monomodal pattern with the following percentiles: 10%;12.2, 25%;15.0, 50%;20.2, 75%;28.3, and 90%;44.9 micromole per square meter. The actual deposition on each sample leaf was also discussed in terms of the normalized deposition and sample position in the branch. The results support the view that the foliar rinsing method will offer a powerful tool for studies of aerosol dry deposition to forests.

Background and Purpose: To investigate target functional independence measure (FIM) items to achieve the prediction goal in terms of the causal relationships between prognostic prediction error and FIM among stroke patients in the convalescent phase using the structural equation modeling (SEM) analysis. Methods: A total of 2992 stroke patients registered in the Japanese Rehabilitation database were analyzed retrospectively. The prediction error was calculated based on a prognostic prediction formula proposed in a previous study. An exploratory factor analysis (EFA) then the factor was determined using confirmatory factorial analysis (CFA). Finally, multivariate analyses were performed using SEM analysis. Results: The fitted indices of the hypothesized model estimated based on EFA were confirmed by CFA. The factors estimated by EFA were applied, and interpreted as follows: “Transferring (T-factor),” “dressing (d-factor),” and “Cognitive function (C-factor).” The fit of the structural model based on the three factors and prediction errors was supported by the SEM analysis. The effects of the d- and C-factors yielded similar causal relationships on prediction error. Meanwhile, the effects between the prediction error and the T-factor were low. Observed FIM items were related to their domains in the structural model, except for the dressing of the upper body and memory (p dered in the previous prediction formula, was found in causal relationships with prediction error. It is suggested to intervene to transfer together with positive factors to recovery for achieving the prediction goal.

Multifunctional and diversified agriculture can address diverging pressures and demands by simultaneously enhancing productivity,biodiversity,and the provision of ecosystem services.The use of digital technologies can support this by designing and managing resource-efficient and context-specific agricultural systems.We present the digital Agricultural Knowledge and Information System(dAKIS)to demonstrate an approach that employs digital technologies to enable decision-making towards diversified and sustainable agriculture.To develop the dAKIS,we specified,together with stakeholders,requirements for a knowledge-based decision-support tool and reviewed the literature to identify limitations in the current generation of tools.The results of the review point towards recurring challenges regarding the consideration of ecosystem services and biodiversity,the capacity to foster communication and cooperation between farmers and other actors,and the ability to link multiple spatiotemporal scales and sustainability levels.To overcome these challenges,the dAKIS provides a digital platform to support farmers'decision-making on land use and management via an integrative spatiotemporally explicit approach that analyses a wide range of data from various sources.The approach integrates remote and in situ sensors,artificial intelligence,modelling,stakeholder-stated demand for biodiversity and ecosystem services,and participatory sustainability impact assessment to address the diverse drivers affecting agricultural land use and management design,including natural and agronomic factors,economic and policy considerations,and socio-cultural preferences and settings.Ultimately,the dAKIS embeds the consideration of ecosystem services,biodiversity,and sustainability into farmers'decision-making and enables learning and progress towards site-adapted small-scale multifunctional and diversified agriculture while simultaneously supporting farmers'objectives and societal demands.
