Morphota.onomy a.d sea.ona. a.unda.ce of dinofla.ella.es of the genera.prorocentrum a.d Mesoporos （prorocentra.es） were studied from nutrient-rich wa.ers, Ka.a.hi Ha.bor a.d the mouth of the Ma.ora.Cha.nel, pa.ista. during Ma. 2002-July 2003. Using both light a.d sca.ning electron microscopy, 13 species of prorocentra.es were identified a.cording to cell sha.e, size, orna.enta.ion of theca. pla.es, a.d a.chitecture of a.ica. pla.elets, a.ica. pore a.ea. ma.gina. pores, a.d interca.a.y ba.ds. p. sigmoides, p. a.cua.um, p. scutellum, p. dongha.ense, p. ba.ticum, p. minimum, p. ema.gina.um, p. lima. p. fa.stia., a.d Mesoporos perfora.us constitute new records for sindh coa.t of pa.ista.. The most a.unda.t species were p. minimum/p, ba.ticum （4.5x103 cells/L）, p. mica.s （1.1~103 cells/L）, p. gra.ile/p, sigmoides （2.5 x 102 cells/L） a.d p. dongha.ense （6.6 x 103 cells/L） a. tempera.ures of 29-31 ~C a.d sa.inities of 35-40. Ma.imum a.unda.ce wa. observed in winter a.d lower a.unda.ce in summer. There wa. no significa.t cha.ge in the distribution of species between sta.ions except for the benthic species which occurred close to Ka.a.hi Ha.bor wa.ers. Significa.t positive correla.ions were observed between prorocentrum spp. a.d tempera.ure （R2=0.27） a.d nega.ive correla.ions with sa.inity （R2=-0.32） except for p. minimum a.d p. ema.gina.um which ha. nega.ive correla.ion with tempera.ure （R2=-0.24） a.d positive with sa.inity （R2=0.08, 0.19）. The finding of potentia. oka.a.c-a.id producing species of benthic prorocentrum ca.l for monitoring for possible huma. hea.th problems in this region.

Cloud forests a.e unusua. a.d fra.ile ha.ita.s, being one of the lea.t studied a.d lea.t understood ecosystems. The tropica. a.dea. dominion is considered one of the most significa.t pla.es in the world a. rega.ds biologica. diversity, with a.very high level of endemism. The biodiversity wa. a.a.ysed in a. isola.ed remna.t a.ea.of a.tropica. monta.e cloud forest known a. the "Bosque de Neblina.de Cuya.", in the North of the peruvia. a.dea. ra.ge. Composition, structure a.d dea. wood were mea.ured or estima.ed. The va.ues obta.ned were compa.ed with other cloud forests. The study revea.ed a.high level of forest biodiversity, a.though the level of biodiversity differs from one a.ea.to a.other: in the inner a.ea., where huma. pressure is a.most inexistent, the biodiversity va.ues increa.e. The high species richness a.d the low domina.ce a.ong species bea. testimony to this monta.e cloud forest a. a.rea. encla.e of biodiversity.
