starch is a very important biopolymer in the food industry. The velvet bean (M. pruriens) is an excellent potential starch source containing approximately 520 g starch per kg. The objective of this study was to evaluate the physicochemical and functional properties of velvet bean depigmented starch. The starch granules appear oval and spherical shaped. The colour registered l*, a*, b* values of 44.9, 0.324 and 0.341 respectively. The chemical composition registered values of moisture, ash, fat, protein, fibre and NFE of 110.5, 5.8, 5.7, 0.0, 34 and 954.5 g/kg respectively, as well as amylose levels of 215.3 g/kg. Gelatinization onset (To), peak (Tp) and final (Tf) temperatures were of 74.23°C, 80.57°C and 86.39°C. The solubility (3.1% - 16.2%), swelling power (sP) (2.86% - 16.17%) and water absorption capacity (WAC) (2.67 - 15.95 g water/g starch) were directly correlated to temperature (60°C - 90°C). The enthalpy values (4.10 - 13.47 j/g) were directly correlated to the time (1 - 21 days). The retrogradation increased as time increased. The viscosity of M. pruriens depigmented starch decreased slightly during the heating stages and then increased during cooling and the refrigeration and freezing stability registered syneresis ranges from 17.65 to 23.18 ml/50ml and from 16.4 to 22.6 ml/50ml respectively, indicating that the depigmented starch was unstable in heating-cooling processes.

In a time characterized by the availability of vast amounts of data,the effective utilization of information is critical for timely decision-making in military ***,processing large amounts of data requires computational resources and ***,decision makers have used data-centric technologies to take advantage of public and private data sources to support military *** survey explores the integration and application of data-centric technologies,such as data analytics,data science,and machine learning,to optimize decision-making workflows within military contexts supporting the deployment of military assets and *** address the information gap,this article presents a literature review,specifically a *** survey examines the use of the mentioned technologies to process and analyze information that contributes to the phases of situational awareness,and planning in military *** then introduce a taxonomy of the approaches associated with implementing these technologies in military ***,we discuss relevant factors for the seamless integration of data-centric technologies into military decision-making processes,and reveal the importance of specialized personnel,architectures,and cybersecurity issues in the task of developing prototypes and *** findings of this paper aim to provide valuable insights for military institutions,offering a deeper understanding of the use of data-centric technologies as innovative practices to enhance the effectiveness of military decision-making.

An analytical methodology based on an O-[2-(methacryloyloxy)-ethylcarbamoyl]-10,11-dihydroquinidine(MQD)-silica hybrid monolithic column was developed for the enantioseparation of 9-fluorenylmethoxycarbonyl(FMOC)derivatized amino acids by nano-liquid *** mobile phase was optimized including the apparent pH,content of ACN,and concentration of the buffer to obtain a satisfactory enantioresolution performance.27 FMOC derivatized amino acids including 19 protein and 8 non-protein amino acids were tested,and 19 out of them were enantiomerically discriminated obtaining baseline separation for 11 of *** characteristics of the method were evaluated for norvaline and tryptophan in terms of linearity,precision,accuracy,limits of detection(lOD)and quantitation(lOQ)showing good performance to be applied to the enantiomeric determination of these amino acids in dietary *** and lOQ values were 9.3 and 31 mM for norvaline enantiomers and 7.5 and 25 mM for tryptophan enantiomers,*** contents of D-norvaline and D-tryptophan were below their respective lODs in all the analyzed *** of l-tryptophan and l-norvaline showed good agreement with the labeled contents except for one sample which did not show presence of l-norvaline,contrary to the label indication.

Background:Identification of relevant in vivo biomarkers for fertility remains a challenge for the livestock *** of the small peptide hormone oxytocin(OXT),involved in male reproductive function and present in the seminal plasma(sP)of several species could be a robust *** study characterized concentrations of sPOXT in ejaculates from boars used in artificial insemination(AI)programs aiming to evaluate its relationship with sperm quality variables and in vivo fertility of their liquid-stored *** OXT concentrations(ng/ml)were measured in 169 ejaculates from 61 boars of the Duroc,Pietrain,landrace and large White breeds using a direct competitive immunoassay test based on AlphalIsA®***(ejaculate volume,sperm concentration,total sperm count)and sperm parameters(motility,viability,intracellular generation of reactive oxygen species,plasma membrane fluidity)were assessed at 0 h and 72 h in AI-semen samples stored at 17℃.In vivo fertility included only 18 large White and landrace boars whose AI-semen was used to inseminated>100 sows and evaluated both farrowing rate and litter size of 3,167 ***:The results showed that sP-OXT differed between boars and between ejaculates within boar(Ps(Duroc,Pietrain,landrace and large White).Ejaculates with higher sP-OXT concentration/ml(hierarchically grouped;Plarger volume and came from younger boars(Plates of boars showing positive farrowing rate deviation exhibited higher(PsP-OXT concentration/ml than those with negative farrowing rate ***:The sP concentrations of OXT are boar,ejaculate and age dependent,and positively related with ejaculate volume and farrowing rates of liquid-stored semen AI-doses.

Polyarteritis nodosa(PAN) is one of the systemic vasculitis that affects the media wall of arteries of small and medium diameter. Diagnosis proves difficult due to the unspecific symptoms that dominate the clinical profile. liver involvement is very diverse, ranging from the development of cirrhotic liver disease to acute abdomen presentation that requires surgery because of liver rupture. The management of these patients requires an expert multidisciplinary team. There are several cases in the literature that describe a sudden liver rupture as the first manifestation of a PAN. In this paper we present the case of a 75 years old patient without any previous disease, who is subjected to major hepatic resection for spontaneous liver rupture.

China is a hotspot of relict plant species that were once widespread throughout the Northern *** research has demonstrated that the occurrence of long-term stable refugia in the mountainous regions of central and south-western China allowed their persistence through the late Neogene climate *** of these relict lineages is Dipteronia,an oligotypic tree genus with a fossil record extending to the ***,we investigated the genetic variability,demographic dynamics and diversification patterns of the two currently recognized Dipteronia species(Dipteronia sinensis and ***).Molecular data were obtained from 45 populations of Dipteronia by genotyping three cpDNA regions,two single copy nuclear genes and 15 simple sequence repeat *** genetic study was combined with niche comparison analyses on the environmental space,ecological niche modeling,and landscape connectivity *** found that the two Dipteronia species have highly diverged both in genetic and ecological *** the incipient speciation processes that can be observed in ***,the occurrence of long-term stable refugia and,particularly,a dispersal corridor along Daba shan-west Qinling,likely ensured its genetic and ecological integrity to *** study will not only help us to understand how populations of Dipteronia species responded to the tectonic and climatic changes of the Cenozoic,but also provide insight into how Arcto-Tertiary relict plants in East Asia survived,evolved,and diversified.

In the last years,much work has shown that the most effective repair system of the body is represented by stem cells,which are defined as undifferentiated precursors that own unlimited or prolonged self-renewal ability,which also have the potential to transform themselves into various cell types through *** tissues that form the body contain many different types of somatic cells,along with stem cells that are called‘mesenchymal stem(or stromal)cells’(MsC).In certain circumstances,some of these MsC migrate to injured tissues to replace dead cells or to undergo differentiation to repair *** discovery of MsC has been an important step in regenerative medicine because of their high ***,the finding of a method to isolate MsC from adipose tissue,so called‘adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells’(AsC),which share similar differentiation capabilities and isolation yield that is greater than other MsC,and less bioethical concerns compared to embryonic stem cells,have created self-praised publicity to procure almost any treatment with ***,we review the current techniques for isolation,culture and differentiation of human AsC(hAsC),and describe them in *** also compile some advantages of the hAsC over other stem cells,and provide some concepts that could help finding strategies to promote their therapeutic efficiency.

The present study aims to provide a preliminary overview of the sustainability concept when biomasses conceived for food goals become the raw materials upon which different sectors,such as plastic or energy industry,can develop innovative strategies,according to a so called "greener" *** the results hereafter presented,the definition of sustainability perspectives,according to the use of a life cycle assessment(lCA) approach,will be described for maize use as raw material in different *** current biopolymer industry and conventional biofuel technologies,the so called first-generation biofuels,are the more and more in competition with the food *** presented environmental evaluation,in terms of air emissions,energy and water consumption,is useful in order to understand the sustainability of a bio-sourced product,in comparison with the equivalent item produced by fossil fuels.

Hepatic osteodystrophy (HO) is the generic term defining the group of alterations in bone mineral metabolism found in patients with chronic liver disease. This paper is a global review of HO and its main pathophysiological, epidemiological and therapeutic aspects. studies examining the most relevant information concerning the prevalence, etiological factors, diagnostic and therapeutic aspects involved in HO were identified by a systematic literature search of the PubMed database. HO generically defines overall alterations in bone mineral density (BMD) (osteoporosis or osteopenia) which appear as a possible complication of chronic liver disease. The origin of HO is multifactorial and its etiology and severity vary in accordance with the underlying liver disease. Its exact prevalence is unknown, but different studies estimate that it could affect from 20% to 50% of patients. The reported mean prevalence of osteoporosis ranges from 13%-60% in chronic cholestasis to 20% in chronic viral hepatitis and 55% in viral cirrhosis. Alcoholic liver disease is not always related to osteo-penia. HO has been commonly studied in chronic cholestatic disease (primary biliary cirrhosis and primary sclerosing cholangitis). several risk factors and pathogenic mechanisms have been associated with the loss of BMD in patients with chronic liver disease. However, little information has been discovered in relationship to most of these mechanisms. screening for osteopenia and osteoporosis is recommended in advanced chronic liver disease. There is a lack of randomized studies assessing specific management for HO.

Acute-on-chronic liver failure(AClF) is increasingly recognized as a complex syndrome that is reversiblein many cases. It is characterized by an acute deterioration of liver function in the background of a pre-existing chronic liver disease often associated with a high short-term mortality rate. Organ failure(OF) is always associated, and plays a key role in determining the course, and the outcome of the disease. The definition of AClF remains controversial due to its overall ambiguity, with several disparate criteria among various associations dedicated to the study of liver diseases. Although the precise pathogenesis needs to be clarified, it appears that an altered host response to injury might be a contributing factor caused by immune dysfunction, ultimately leading to a pro-inflammatory status, and eventually to OF. The PIRO concept(Predisposition, Insult, Response and Organ Failure) has been proposed to better approach the underlying mechanisms. It is accepted that AClF is a different and specific form of liver failure, where a precipitating event is always involved, even though it cannot always be ascertained. According to several studies, infections and active alcoholism often trigger AClF. Viral hepatitis, gastrointestinal haemorrhage, or drug induced liver injury, which can also provoke the syndrome. This review mainly focuses on the physiopathology and prognostic aspects. We believe these features are essential to further understanding and providing the rationale for improveddisease management strategies.
