Self-optimized H-adsorption affinity of CuRu alloy cocatalysts towards efficient photocatalytic H_(2)evolution

In addition to the electron transfer,the appropriate H-adsorption affinity of active centers on the metal cocatalyst surface is quite important for high hydrogen-production activity of cocatalyst-modified *** typical Cu and Ru metal cocatalysts clearly exhibit a weak Cu-H bond and a strong Ru-H bond,respectively,resulting in limited activity for photocatalytic H_(2)*** this work,an ingenious strategy of self-optimized H-adsorption affinity in CuRu alloy cocatalyst is developed to simultaneously reinforce the Cu-H bond and weaken the Ru-H bond by the intrinsic electron transfer from Cu to Ru *** CuRu alloy nanoparticles(2-3 nm)were deposited on the TiO_(2)surface to prepare CuRu/TiO_(2)through a one-step photoreduction *** tests exhibited that the highest H_(2)-production rate of CuRu/TiO_(2)photocatalyst reached up to 5.316 mmol h^(-1)g^(-1),which was 24.80,1.86,and 2.60 times higher than that of the TiO_(2),Cu/TiO_(2),and Ru/TiO_(2),*** on the characterization results and theoretical calculations,the CuRu alloy cocatalyst exhibits excellent self-optimized H-adsorption affinity via the spontaneous electron transfer from Cu to Ru atom,which can greatly accelerate the photocatalytic H_(2)-production rate of TiO_(2).This work provides a feasible idea for the self-optimized H-adsorption affinity of metal active sites in the photocatalytic H_(2)-generation field.

Modifying effects and mechanisms of superfine stainless wires on microstructures and mechanical properties of ultra-high performance seawater sea-sand concrete

Ultra-high-performance seawater sea-sand concrete（UHPSSC） presents a prospective solution to address the natural resource shortage in marine infrastructure construction. To eliminate the corrosion risk of steel fibers and broaden the applicability of UHPSSC, this study investigates the mechanical properties and free chloride ion content as well as microstructures of UHPSSC reinforced with superfine stainless wires（SSWs） under natural curing. The results indicate that 1.5% SSWs can remarkably improve the flexural strength and toughness of UHPSSC by 127% and 1724%, respectively, and mitigate the long-term strength degradation of UHPSSC. The strong interfacial bond between SSW and UHPSSC improves the compactness of UHPSSC, thus reducing the growth space for Ca（OH）2crystals and swelling hydration products generated by sulfate and magnesium ions. This can be supported by the observed reduction in the Ca/Si ratio of C–S–H gels, CH crystal orientation index, and ***, through mechanisms such as pull-out, rupture, overlapping network, and internal anchor interface, SSWs effectively prevent microcrack growth and propagation, transforming single long-connected microcracks into multiple-emission microcracks centered on SSW. Additionally, the free chloride ion content of the composites at 28 and 180 d meets the ACI 318-19 standard requirements for concrete exposed to seawater. This compliance is attributed to the chloride immobilization facilitated by Friedel's salt and C–S–H gels within the interfaces around SSWs and sea-sand. Consequently, SSWs-reinforced UHPSSC exhibits considerable potential for applications in sustainable marine infrastructures, demanding long-term mechanical properties and high durability.

Capturing and visualizing the phase transition mediated thermal stress of thermal barrier coating materials via a cross-scale integrated computational approach

The generation and evaluation of severely high thermal stress(σ)is known to be responsible for failure of thermal barrier coatings(TBCs)during thermal *** is crucial and challenging to capture fluctuations inσcaused by the phase transition,which has motivated us to develop a high-throughput multiscale evaluation method forσin TBCs that considers the phase transition of the top ceramic materials by coupling first-principles calculations with finite element *** method quantitatively evaluates and visualizesσof the real TBC structure under thermal cycling by multifield ***,the thermophysical properties calculated by the first-principles calculations consider the effects of temperature and phase transition,which not only reduces the cost of obtaining data but also has a more physical *** this work,rare earth tantalites(RETaO_(4))are introduced as ceramic layers,and the results demonstrate thatσundergoes a rapid escalation near the phase transition temperature(T_(t)),particularly in the TBCs_GdTaO_(4) system,where it rises from 224 to 435 *** discontinuity inσmay originate from the significant alterations in Young’s modulus(increase by 27%–78%)and thermal conductivity(increase by 53%–146%)near T_(t).The TBCs_NdTaO_(4) and TBCs_SmTaO_(4) systems exhibit noteworthy temperature drop gradients and minimalσfluctuations,which are beneficial for extending service lifetime of *** approach facilitates the prediction of failure mechanisms and provides theoretical guidance for the reverse design of TBC materials to obtain low thermal stress systems.

Compared with organic electrolytes,aqueous electrolytes exhibit significantly higher ionic conductivity and possess inherent safety features,showcasing unique advantages in ***,challenges remain for low-salt aqueous electrolytes operating at high voltage and low ***,we report a low-salt(0.87 m,m means mol kg^(-1))'salt in dimethyl sulfoxide/water'hybrid electrolyte with non-flammability via hybridizing aqueous electrolyte with an organic co-solvent of dimethyl sulfoxide(hydrogen bond acceptor).As a result,the 0.87 m hybrid electrolyte exhibits enhanced electrochemical stability,a freezing temperature below-50℃,and an outstanding ionic conductivity of 0.52mS cm~(-1)at-50℃.Dimethyl sulfoxide can anchor water molecules through intermolecular hydrogen bond interaction,effectively reinforcing the stability of water in the hybrid ***,the interaction between dimethyl sulfoxide and water molecules diminishes the involvement of water in the generation of ordered ice crystals,finally facilitating the low-temperature performance of the hybrid *** paired with the 0.87 m'salt in dimethyl sulfoxide/water'hybrid electrolyte,the symmetric supercapacitor presents a 2.0 V high operating voltage at 25℃,and can operate stably at-50℃.Importantly,the suppressed electrochemical reaction of water at-50℃further leads to the symmetric supercapacitor operated at a higher voltage of 2.6 *** modification strategy opens an effective avenue to develop low-salt electrolytes for high-voltage and low-temperature aqueous supercapacitors.

Sensitivity to structure and composition is very challenging to establish in nanocatalysis due to inadequate definition of structures that are very close in *** synthesized a pair of atomically precise copper clusters that are very close in composition,[Cu_(20)H_(9)(Tf-dpf)_(10)]·BF4(Cu_(20)H_(9))and[Cu_(20)H_(8)(Tf-dpf)_(10)]·(BF_(4))_(2)(Cu_(20)H_(8)),by using a pyridyl-functionalized flexible amidinate ligand,N,N′-di(5-trifluoromethyl-2-pyridyl)*** one-hydride difference in their composition leads to significant variation in geometric and electronic structures and,consequently,distinctly different optical and catalytic ***_(20)H_(8)exhibits 25 times higher catalytic activity than Cu_(20)H_(9)(96.7%vs 3.7%in yield)in the selective hydrogenation of anα,β-unsaturated aldehyde(cinnamaldehyde)to saturated aldehyde(3-phenylpropanal).Electrospray ionization mass spectrometry combined with density functional theory calculations reveal that the greater ease of dissociation of one Tf-dpf ligand compared to Cu_(20)H_(8)is the key to its higher *** work demonstrates a clear case of structure and composition sensitivity in nanocatalysis and that one hydride,out of∼330 atoms in the nanoclusters,can make a huge difference in the catalytic *** insights will be useful in the design and synthesis of atomically precise nanocatalysts.

Influence of the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation and Interdecadal Pacific Oscillation on Antarctic surface air temperature during 1900 to 2015

The importance of the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation(AMO)and Interdecadal Pacific Oscillation(IPO)in influencing zonally asymmetric changes in Antarctic surface air temperature(SAT)has been ***,previous studies have primarily concentrated on examining the combined impact of the contrasting phases of the AMO and IPO,which have been dominant since the advent of satellite observations in *** study utilizes long-term reanalysis data to investigate the impact of four combinations of+AMO+IPO,–AMO–IPO,+AMO–IPO,and–AMO+IPO on Antarctic SAT over the past 115 ***+AMO phase is characterized by a spatial mean temperature amplitude of up to 0.5℃over the North Atlantic Ocean,accompanied by positive sea surface temperature(SST)anomalies in the tropical eastern Pacific and negative SST anomalies in the extratropical-mid-latitude western Pacific,which are indicative of the+IPO *** Antarctic SAT exhibits contrasting spatial patterns during the+AMO+IPO and+AMO–IPO ***,during the–AMO+IPO period,apart from the Antarctic Peninsula and the vicinity of the Weddell Sea,the entire Antarctic region experiences a warming *** most pronounced signal in the SAT anomalies is observed during the austral autumn,whereas the combination of–AMO and–IPO exhibits the smallest magnitude across all the *** wavetrain excited by the SST anomalies associated with the AMO and IPO induces upper-level and surface atmospheric circulation anomalies,which alter the SAT ***,downward longwave radiation anomalies related to anomalous cloud cover play a crucial *** the future,if the phases of AMO and IPO were to reverse(AMO transitioning to a negative phase and IPO transitioning to a positive phase),Antarctica could potentially face more pronounced warming and accelerated melting compared to the current observations.

Multi-objective optimization and evaluation of supercritical CO_(2) Brayton cycle for nuclear power generation

The supercritical CO_(2) Brayton cycle is considered a promising energy conversion system for Generation IV reactors for its simple layout,compact structure,and high cycle *** models of four Brayton cycle layouts are developed in this study for different reactors to reduce the cost and increase the thermohydraulic performance of nuclear power generation to promote the commercialization of nuclear *** analysis,multi-objective optimizations,and four decision-making methods are applied to obtain each Brayton scheme’s optimal thermohydraulic and economic *** show that for the same design thermal power scale of reactors,the higher the core’s exit temperature,the better the Brayton cycle’s thermo-economic *** the four-cycle layouts,the recompression cycle(RC)has the best overall performance,followed by the simple recuperation cycle(SR)and the intercooling cycle(IC),and the worst is the reheating cycle(RH).However,RH has the lowest total cost of investment(C_(tot))of$1619.85 million,and IC has the lowest levelized cost of energy(LCOE)of 0.012$/(kWh).The nuclear Brayton cycle system’s overall performance has been improved due to *** performance of the molten salt reactor combined with the intercooling cycle(MSR-IC)scheme has the greatest improvement,with the net output power(W_(net)),thermal efficiencyη_(t),and exergy efficiency(η_(e))improved by 8.58%,8.58%,and 11.21%,*** performance of the lead-cooled fast reactor combined with the simple recuperation cycle scheme was optimized to increase C_(tot) by 27.78%.In comparison,the internal rate of return(IRR)increased by only 7.8%,which is not friendly to investors with limited *** the nuclear Brayton cycle,the molten salt reactor combined with the recompression cycle scheme should receive priority,and the gas-cooled fast reactor combined with the reheating cycle scheme should be considered carefully.

Overcoming adaptive resistance in AML by synergistically targeting FOXO3A-GNG7-mTOR axis with FOXO3A inhibitor Gardenoside and rapamycin

Therapeutic targeting FOxO3A(a forkhead transcription factor)represents a prom-ising strategy to suppress acute myeloid leukemia(AML).However,the effective inhibitors that target FOXO3A are lacking and the adaptive response signaling weakens the cytotoxic effect of FOxO3A depletion on AML ***,we show that FOxO3A deficiency induces a compensa-tory response involved in the reactive activation of mTOR that leads to signaling rebound and adaptive *** metabolism acts downstream of mTOR to provoke activa-tion of JNK/c-JUN via reactive oxygen species(ROS).At the molecular level,FOXO3A directly binds to the promoter of G protein gamma subunit 7(GNG7)and preserves its expression,while GNG7 interacts with mTOR and restricts phosphorylated activation of ***,combinatorial inhibition of FOXO3A and mTOR show a synergistic cytotoxic effect on AML cells and prolongs survival in a mouse model of *** a structure-based virtual screening,we report one potent small-molecule FOxO3A inhibitor(Gardenoside)that exhibits a strong effect of anti-FOXO3A DNA *** synergizes with rapamycin to substantially reduce tumor burden and extend survival in AML patient-derived xenograft *** results demonstrate that mTOR can mediate adaptive resistance to FOxO3A inhibition and validate a combinatorial approach for treating AML.
