Follicular helper T cells （Tfh） have been referred as a lineage that provides a help for B cells to proliferate and undergo antibody affinity maturation in the germinal center. Evidence has supported that Tfh subset development, like other lineages, is dependent on microenvironment where a particular transcriptional program is initiated. It has been shown that Bcl-6 and IL-21 act as master regulators for the development and function of Tfh cells. Tfh dysregulation is involved in the development of autoimmune pathologies, such as systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases. The present review highlights the recent advances in the field of Tfh cells and focus on their development and function.

Primary Sjogren＇s syndrome （pSS） is a systemic autoimmune disease with exocrine gland dysfunction and multi-organ involvement. Recent progress in understanding the pathogenesis of pSS offers an opportunity to find new biomarkers for the diagnosis and assessment of disease activity. Screening noninvasive biomarkers from the saliva and tears has significant potential. The need for specific and sensitive biomarker candidates in pSS is significant. This review aims to summarize recent advances in the identification of biomarkers of Sjogren syndrome, trying to identify reliable, sensitive, and specific biomarkers that can be used to guide treatment decisions.

Background:Gingiva-derived mesenchymal stem cells(GMSCs)suppress immune and inflammatory responses in experimental arthritis ***,we determined whether GMSCs suppress the proliferation and invasion of rheumatoid arthritis fibroblast-like synoviocytes(RA FLSs).Methods:Surface markers of GMSCs were analyzed by flow *** expression of matrix metalloproteinases and pro-inflammatory cytokine in RA FLSs was measured by quantitative polymerase chain reaction(PCR).RA FLS proliferation was analyzed by a 5-ethynyl-2′-deoxyuridine *** explore the molecular mechanisms,we assessed the effect of GMSCs on RA FLS proliferation by adding indoleamine-2,3-dioxygenase(IDO),CD39,or CD73 *** invasion was analyzed by a transwell *** anti-inflammatory effects of GMSCs were assessed in a typeⅡcollagen-induced arthritis(CIA)mouse ***:Compared with human dermal fibroblast,GMSCs displayed a higher expression of ***(IL)-8,IL-6,MMP-1,MMP-3,MMP-13,and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 mRNA were all decreased in RA FLSs after incubation with *** significantly reduced RA FLS proliferation in a dose-dependent manner in vitro,which was partly dependent on CD39/CD73 *** significantly impeded the invasive capacity of RA FLSs in a dose-dependent manner in *** infusion delayed arthritis onset and reduced arthritis scores in the CIA ***:GMSCs are effective to inhibit the aggressive behavior of RA FLSs and treat experimental arthritis,implying their therapeutic potential in RA patients.

Turbulence statistics of natural airflow within a large Open Top Chamber

The turbulence statistics parameters （variables） of natural airflow within a large Open Top Chamber （OTC）, 4 m in high height and 3 m in diameter, were measured with a three-dimensional ultrasonic anemometer/thermometer at Research Station of Changbai Mountain Forest Ecosystems Jilin Province, China in May 2004, for improving the field application of OTP. Results showed that because of the physical limitation, turbulence within OTC exhibited unique map compared with that of natural environments. There were clear daily pat- terns for most parameters. Turbulence here seemed to be isotropic and closely linked at all directions. Shape of eddies looked like a ＇cylinder＇ which was very similar to the shape of OTC. Continuous airflow was always interpreted by large scale eddies from top of OTC and showed high interactive intermittence at all directions.

Mesenchymal stem ceils （MSCs） have been demonstrated to have promising therapeutic benefits for a variety of neurological dis- eases; however, the underlying mechanisms are poorly understood. Here, we showed that intravitreal infusion of MSCs promoted retinal ganglion cell （RGC） survival in a mouse model of acute glaucoma, with significant inhibition of microglial activation, production of TNF-α, IL-1β, and reactive oxygen species, as well as caspase-8 and caspase-3 activation. In vitro, MSCs inhibited both caspase-8-mediated RGC apoptosis and microgUal activation, partly via the action of stanniocalcin 1 （STCl）. Furthermore, we found that microRNA-21a-Sp （miR-21） and its target, PDCD4, were essential for STC1 production and the neuroprotective property of MSCs in vitro and in vivo. Importantly, miR-21 overexpression or PDCD4 knockdown augmented MSC-mediated neuroprotective effects on acute glaucoma. These data highlight a previously unrecognized neuroprotective mechanism by which the miR-21/ PDCD4 axis induces MSCs to secrete STC1 and other factors that exert neuroprotective effects. Therefore, modulating the miR- 21/PDCD4 axis might be a promising strategy for clinical treatment of acute glaucoma and other neurological diseases.
