Biomarkers of intravenous immunoglobulin resistance and coronary artery lesions in Kawasaki disease

Background Currently,there are no reliable indicators for predicting intravenous immunoglobulin resistance and coronary artery lesions in the early stage of Kawasaki *** A total of 300 patients with Kawasaki disease were studied *** data were compared between the intravenous immunoglobulin resistant (29 patients) and responsive groups,and between the groups with coronary artery lesions (48 patients) and without coronary artery *** The intravenous immunoglobulin resistant group had significantly higher D-dimer,globulin,interleukin-6 and serum ferritin levels in comparison to the intravenous immunoglobulin responder group.D-dimer level had a sensitivity of 87.0% and a specificity of 56.3% for predicting intravenous immunoglobulin resistance at a cutoff point of 1.09 mg/*** had a sensitivity of 62.1% and a specificity of 82.3% for predicting intravenous immunoglobulin resistance at a cutoff point of 34.7 g/*** ferritin level had a sensitivity of 42.9% and a specificity of 88.8% for predicting intravenous immunoglobulin resistance at a cutoff point of 269.7 ng/*** patients with coronary artery lesions had higher D-dimer and tumor necrosis factor-α level.D-dimer level had a sensitivity of 50% and a specificity of 78.6% for predicting coronary artery lesions at a cutoff point of 1.84 mg/*** on analysis by multivariate logistic regression,serum ferritin and globulin were independent risks for intravenous immunoglobulin resistance,D-dimer was independent risk for coronary artery *** Elevated serum ferritin,globulin and D-dimer levels are significantly associated with intravenous immunoglobulin resistance in Kawasaki ***,serum D-dimer is significantly increased in Kawasaki disease with coronary artery lesions.

Ion dynamics associated with substorm dipolarization fronts

We report where and how ions are accelerated in the proximity of earthward propagating dipolarization fronts （DFs） in the magnetotail during a magnetospheric substorm on February 15, 2008. Two DFs were observed by multiple THEMIS space- craft in the near-Earth magnetotail （-10 Re）. We studied the ion dynamics associated with these DFs by comparing observed results with large scale kinetic （LSK） simulation results. The LSK simulation reproduced the sudden ion energy flux enhance- ment concurrent with the arrival of the DF at the satellite locations. We found that ions can be accelerated to more than 100 keV energy at the DF. These ions were initially non-adiabatically accelerated near magnetic reconnection site and then still non-adiabatically accelerated at the DF structure.

An empirical model of the global distribution of plasmaspheric hiss based on Van Allen Probes EMFISIS measurements

Using wave measurements from the EMFISIS instrument onboard Van Allen Probes,we investigate statistically the spatial distributions of the intensity of plasmaspheric hiss *** reproduce these empirical results,we establish a fitting model that is a thirdorder polynomial function of L-shell,magnetic local time(MLT),magnetic latitude(MLAT),and AE*.Quantitative comparisons indicate that the model’s fitting functions can reflect favorably the major empirical features of the global distribution of hiss wave intensity,including substorm dependence and the MLT *** results therefore provide a useful analytic model that can be readily employed in future simulations of global radiation belt electron dynamics under the impact of plasmaspheric hiss waves in geospace.

溶解性有机质(DOM)是水体中最活跃的组分,可与金属离子发生吸附、络合、氧化还原等一系列反应,影响金属离子在水环境中的迁移转化。DOM的主要成分为腐殖质,而富里酸(FA)和胡敏酸(HA)为腐殖质中占比最高的2种成分,占DOM总量的40%~60%。DOM与重金属离子的相互作用一般用稳定常数表示其形成的络合物的稳定性,对重金属离子的吸附量和吸附率会受到pH值、温度、反应时间等多种环境因素的影响。在调研大量国内外文献基础上,综述了DOM与重金属离子相互作用机制及其影响的研究进展。

Complement C1q was proved to be able to regulate the polarization of macrophages to the anti-inflammatory phenotype(M2 polarized),acting as an anti-inflammation molecule independent of the classical complement pathway.A high level of C1q expression has been detected in the tumor microenvironment(TME)of diverse tumors,including non-small cell lung cancer,in which C1q could be considered a predictor of poor prognosis.

Modeling the energetic electron fluxes in the inner radiation belt based on a drift-source model

The Macao Science Satellite-1(MSS-1),designed by the Macao University of Science and Technology and the National Space Science Center(NSSC)of China,is equipped to detect the fine structure of the magnetic field over the South Atlantic Anomaly(SAA)region,monitoring geomagnetic field variations,and obtaining the energetic electron spectrum distributions in the Earth’s inner radiation *** this study,we simulate the distributions of trapped,quasi-trapped,and untrapped electrons along the orbit of MSS-1 based on a drift-source *** simulation results show that the particle detector with 90°looking direction can observe trapped electrons in the SAA region,untrapped electrons in the regions conjugated with the SAA region at the north hemisphere,and quasitrapped electrons in all other *** contrast,the detectors with<60°looking directions can measure only untrapped ***,quasi-trapped electron fluxes accumulate along the drift trajectory and are due primarily to CRAND,until reaching the SAA region where quasi-trapped electrons are all lost into the atmosphere.

Model-based automated testing of JavaScript Web applications via longer test sequences

JavaScript has become one of the most widely used languages for Web *** dynamic and event-driven features make it challenging to ensure the correctness of Web applications written in JavaScript.A variety of dynamic analysis techniques have been proposed which are,however,limited in either coverage or *** this paper,we propose a simple,yet effective,model-based automated testing approach to achieve a high code-coverage within the time budget via testing with longer event *** implement our approach as an open-source tool LJS,and perform extensive experiments on 21 publicly available *** average,LJS is able to achieve 86.5%line coverage in 10 *** with JSDEP,a state-of-the-art breadth-first search based automated testing tool enriched with partial order reduction,the coverage of LJS is 11%-19%higher than that of JSDEP on real-world large Web *** empirical findings support that proper longer test sequences can achieve a higher code coverage in JavaScript Web application testing.

On the loss mechanisms of radiation belt electron dropouts during the 12 September 2014 geomagnetic storm

Radiation belt electron dropouts indicate electron flux decay to the background level during geomagnetic storms,which is commonly attributed to the effects of wave-induced pitch angle scattering and magnetopause *** investigate the loss mechanisms of radiation belt electron dropouts triggered by a solar wind dynamic pressure pulse event on 12 September 2014,we comprehensively analyzed the particle and wave measurements from Van Allen *** dropout event was divided into three periods:before the storm,the initial phase of the storm,and the main phase of the *** electron pitch angle distributions(PADs)and electron flux dropouts during the initial and main phases of this storm were investigated,and the evolution of the radial profile of electron phase space density(PSD)and the(μ,K)dependence of electron PSD dropouts(whereμ,K,and L^*are the three adiabatic invariants)were *** energy-independent decay of electrons at L>4.5 was accompanied by butterfly PADs,suggesting that the magnetopause shadowing process may be the major loss mechanism during the initial phase of the storm at L>*** features of electron dropouts and 90°-peaked PADs were observed only for>1 MeV electrons at Lfusion.

Placing metals within microwave ovens has been generally viewed as a dangerous practice because of occurrence of violent discharge,but in recent years such discharge phenomenon has attracted increasing attention and has enabled a variety of exciting *** this work,we provide a comprehensive review of fundamental understanding of microwave-metal discharge interaction and its state-of-the-art application for nanomaterials *** introduce the microscopic interaction between different categories of materials and the electric and magnetic field of *** microwave-metal interaction,we highlight its size-dependence and point out the influence of the oxide layer on the surface of *** discuss the required conditions for occurrence of discharge,microscopic formation mechanism,and characteristic features of microwave-metal discharge *** analyzing the influence from the microwave input,discharging metals,and surrounding discharging media,we discuss the strategy for systematical regulation of the discharge *** describe the applications of the microwave-metal discharge for facile synthesis of various functional nanomaterials including core-shell carbon/metal,metal oxides,metal chalcogenides,intermetallic compounds,metallic nanoparticles and metallic compounds,and organic ***,the challenges in precise characterization and dynamic regulation of the discharge process as well as exciting application opportunities are discussed.
