Hospital admissions from alcohol-related acute pancreatitis during the COVID-19 pandemic:A single-centre study

BACKGROUND The United Kingdom government introduced lockdown restrictions for the first time on 23 March 2020 due to coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)*** were partially lifted on 15 June and further eased on 4 *** in social behaviour,including increased alcohol consumption were described at the ***,there were no data available to consider the impact of these changes on the number of alcohol-related disease admissions,specifically alcoholrelated acute pancreatitis(AP).This study evaluated the trend of alcohol-related AP admissions at a single centre during the initial COVID-19 *** To evaluate the trend in alcohol-related AP admissions at a single centre during the initial COVID-19 lockdown in the United *** All patients admitted with alcohol-related AP from March to September 2016 to 2020 were considered in this *** demographics,their initial presentation with AP,any recurrent admissions,disease severity and length of stay,were evaluated using ANOVA andχ^(2)and Kruskal–Wallis *** One hundred and thirty-six patients were included in the *** highest total number of AP admissions was seen in March–September 2019 and the highest single-month period was in March–May *** for first-time presentations of AP were highest in 2020 compared to other year groups and were significantly higher compared to previous years,for example,2016(P<0.05).Furthermore,the rate of admissions decreased by 38.89%between March–May 2020 and June–September 2020(P<0.05),coinciding with the easing of lockdown *** significant decrease was not observed in the previous year groups during those same time *** for recurrent AP were highest in *** median length of hospital stay did not differ between patients from each of the year *** An increased number of admissions for alcohol-related AP were observed during months when lockdown restrictions were enforced;a fall in figur

Green fuel from coal via Fischer-Tropsch process： scenario of optimal condition of process and modelling

Extracting, transportation and the using from fossil fuels can damage to the hydrosphere, the biosphere and the Earth＇s atmosphere. But humans always need to this valuable substance. The production of oil derivatives by means of forest waste and coal through the Fischer-Tropsch process is an appropriate solution for the cleanliness of all parts of the environment. For the production of favorite products by the synthesis of Fischer-Tropsch, the performance of the catalyst under different operating conditions should be predictable. For this reason, in this paper, eight mathematical models were determined for the selectivity of five products of methane, light hydrocarbons, gasoline, diesel and wax based on three factors of reduction temperature, time on stream, and He/CO ratio inlet gas on iron-based catalyst. The results showed that the reduction temperature factor had the most effective on the selectivity of hydrocarbon products, exception diesel, so that the increase of the reduction temperature led to increase of the selectivity of methane, light hydrocarbons, gasoline and reduce of the degree of selectivity of the wax and vice versa. For the diesel selectivity, factor of the He/CO ratio inlet gas was the most effective than other factors.

Tunable graphene-based mid-infrared band-pass planar filter and its application

We have designed and proposed the edge modes supported by graphene ribbons and the planar band-pass filter consist- ing of graphene ribbons coupled to a graphene ring resonator by using the finite-difference time-domain numerical method. Simulation results show that the edge modes improve the electromagnetic coupling between devices. This structure works as a novel, tunable mid-infrared band-pass filter. Our studies will benefit the fabrication of planar, ultra-compact nano-scale devices in the mid-infrared region. A power splitter consisting of two output ribbons that is useful in photonic integrated devices and circuits is also designed and simulated. These devices are useful for designing ultra-compact planar devices in photonic integrated circuits.

Relationship Between a Teacher Educator's Questions and the Development of Prospective Teachers' Critical Thinking

Purpose:This study explores the relationships between the cognitive demands of the questions asked by a teacher educator(TE)and prospective teachers'(PT)capacity for critical thinking(CT).Design/Approach/Methods:Participants comprised a TE and 32 *** cognitive demands of the TE's questions and PTs'CT were analyzed using a systematic observation ***:Results indicate that there are tangible connections between the increasing mental demand of TE questions and PTs'higher-order cognitive *** PTs achieved higherorder CT when the TE asked more cognitively demanding *** instance,when the TE's questions were pitched at the cognitive demand levels-namely,the analyze,evaluate,and/or create levels—the PTanswers were longer and reflected higher CT,such as inductive reasoning,suggesting new ways of thinking,or legitimating the arguments of ***,results suggest that intentionally subjecting PTs to sustained higher cognitive demands via questions may help them reach their optimal CT ***/Value:Although proposed teaching strategies have been invaluable in proposing content-specific interventions for fostering the CT of university students,how lecturers should use their questions to conduct such interventions has been *** study addresses this gap.

The one-pot synthesis of a series of 1,2,4-triazines from the reactions of semicarbazide or thiosemi-carbazide with various α,β-dicarbonyl compounds under reflux conditions in a EtO H-H2O (9:1) mixture as solvent and catalyzed by nano-sized silica supported FeCl3(FeCl3@SiO 2) was investigat-ed. The FeCl3 content of the catalyst was measured by atomic absorption to get the adsorption ca-pacity. The reactions gave high yields of the product and the catalyst was easily separated and re-used for successive reaction runs without significant loss of activity.

By applying continuity and boundary conditions, the reflection and transmission coefficients of one- dimensional time-independent Schr6dinger equation with a symmetric barrier-type shifted Deng-Fan potential are ob- tained and discussed. The numerical and graphical results are very sufficient, accurate and consistent with the conser- vation of probability.

Density functional theory studies on the structure, vibrational spectra of three new tetrahalogenoferrate (III) complexes

Three new tetrahalogenoferrate (III) complexes with the general formula (R)4N[FeCl3X]– in that (X=F-,Cl-,Br-) synthesized by the reaction of FeCl3 with (C2H5)4NF, (CH3)4NCl and (C4H9)4NBr salts in anhydrous CH3CN. These were characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV/Visible and 81Br-NMR spectroscopy. The optimized geometries and frequencies of the stationary point are calculated at the B3LYP/LANL2DZ level of theory. Harmonic vibrational frequencies and infrared intensities for FeCl3F-, FeCl4- and FeCl3Br- are studied by means of theoretical and experimental methods. The calculated frequencies are in reasonable agreement with the experiment values.

The Design and Construction of an Intelligent Taxi Electronic Payment System Solution

Today the usage of electronic services in different taxies seems to be necessary. Organizing a system to pay the taxi electronically with the card by the passenger can decrease the need to carry cash. Designing and building of such a system by using a special taximeter with new features and also one or more card reader can be fixed into the taxi. Payment is with the smart credit card and from the client's account. The information of presented services is stored in the system and will be recorded as offered services. The driver can have access to taxi organization or some special terminals electronically to see his account and also he can receive a receipt.
