Bones are organs of the skeletal system, providing shape, mechanical support, and protection to the body and facilitating the movement. In addition, bones contribute to the mineral homeostasis of the body and have recently been found to participate in endocrine regulation of energy metabolism. The well-known limitations associated with clinical use of autografts and allografts continue to drive efforts to develop bone graft substitutes, using the principles of biomaterials and tissue engineering. Cancer cell resistance to widely used chemotherapeutic agents is gradually developed. Natural products, mainly isolated from medicinal plants, have been considered as valuable sources for herbal anticancer drugs. The present study aimed to evaluate in vitro antiproliferative and apoptosis-inducing activities of crude ethyle alcohole extract and four fractions of Q. brantii acorn. Crude ethyle alcohole extract of Q. brantii acorn was prepared and subjected to fractionation with different polarity. Subsequently, the extract and the fractions wereevaluated for their in vitro antiproliferative activity in two cancerous(Hela and AGS) and one normal(HDFs) cell lines using MTT [3-(4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2ol) 2, 5 diphenyltetrazoliumbromide] assay. To determine whether the cytotoxicity of these compounds involved the induction of apoptosis, Hela cells were treated with IC_(50) concentrations of test compounds, stained with both propidium iodide(PI) and Annexin V-fluorescein isothiocyanate(FITC), and analyzed by flow cytometry. In vitro cytotoxicity assay showed that the cell viability was significantly reduced in a dose-dependent manner following treatment with crude ethyle alcohole extract and Cholophorm and n-Butanol fractions. Based on the probit regression model, antiproliferative activities of crude ethyle alcohole extract, Cholophorm fraction, and n-Butanol fraction on Hela and AGS cells and HDFs cells were significantly different(P < 0.001). The results of flow cytometric analysis showed that crude ethyle alcohole extract and two fractions of Q. brantii acorn induced early apoptotic cell death. These findings suggest that crude ethyle alcohole extract and Cholophorm and n-Butanol fractions of Q. brantii acorn suppress the proliferation of cancer cells through induction of early apoptosis.

Protective effect of co-enzyme Q10 on testicular tissue and sperm parameters in adult male rats treated with Sunset Yellow FCF

Objective:To determine the protective effect of co-enzyme Q10(CoQ10)on testicular tissue and sperm parameters in male rats treated with SunsetYellow ***:Sixty male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into 6 groups of the control,CoQ10(10 mg/kg/day),low dose of Sunset Yellow(2.5 mg/kg),high dose of Sunset Yellow(70 mg/kg),low dose of Sunset Yellow(2.5 mg/kg)plus CoQ10,and high dose of Sunset Yellow(70 mg/kg)plus *** drugs were administered via daily oral gavages for 6 *** the end of the experiment,sperm analysis,stereological and histological assessments of the testis were carried ***:The normal morphology(by 41.1%)and progressive spermatozoa(by 74.8%),testicle volume(by 33.4%),lumen volume(by 38.3%),interstitial tissue volume(by 44.7%),seminiferous tubule volume(by 40.7%),and number of spermatogonia(by 53.9%)and Leydig cells(by 70.7%)reduced in the rats that received high doses of Sunset Yellow in comparison to the control ***,all these alterations were recovered by CoQ10 treatment in the CoQ10 plus high dose of Sunset Yellow ***,low doses of Sunset Yellow did not affect different parameters of the testis and ***:CoQ10 could,to some extent,prevent structural changes of the testis induced by the high dose of SunsetYellow.

This study aimed to evaluate the correlation between nursing informatics(NI)competency and information literacy skills for evidencebased practice(EBP)among intensive care *** cross-sectional study was conducted on 184 nurses working in intensive care units(ICUs).The study data were collected through demographic information,Nursing Informatics Competency Assessment Tool(NICAT),and information literacy skills for EBP *** intensive care nurses received competent and low-moderate levels for the total scores of NI competency and information literacy skills,*** received a moderate score for the use of different information resources but a low score for information searching skills,different search features,and knowledge about search operators,and only 31.5%of the nurses selected the most appropriate *** competency and related subscales had a significant direct bidirectional correlation with information literacy skills for EBP and its subscales(P<0.05).Nurses require a high level of NI competency and information literacy for EBP to obtain up-to-date information and provide better care and *** planners and policymakers should develop interventions to enhance NI competency and information literacy skills among nurses and motivate them to use EBP in clinical settings.

Amino-functionalized SBA-15(SBA-Pr-NH2) has been used as a new basic nanocatalyst in the one-pot synthesis of spirooxindole derivatives via the three-component condensation reaction of isatins,activated methylene reagents,and dimedone in an aqueous ***-Pr-NH2 has been established as an efficient heterogeneous nanoporous solid basic catalyst(pore size of 6 nm) that can be easily handled and removed from the reaction mixture by simple filtration,and also recovered and reused without noticeable loss of reactivity.

Megaloblastic anemias are a group of hematologic disorders in which abnormal DNA synthesis causes blood and bone marrow disorders. This type of anemias occurs as a result of folic acid deficiency or impaired vitamin B12 absorption. The prevalence of this type of anemia is highly variable worldwide and megaloblastic anemia caused by lack of vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) is rare during pregnancy [1]. In this case report, we report follow-ups conducted for a pregnant 33-year-old woman, G2, P1, with a history of previous natural childbirth who attended Kamali Hospital due to labor pain associated with severe thrombocytopenia. Although this woman was injected 10 units of PLT and also vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin), folic acid and corticosteroids in the course of treatment, her platelet level has not yet returned to normal levels after 6 months and she is still being treated.
