Since the outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)in December 2019 in China,various measures have been adopted in order to attenuate the impact of the virus on the *** regard to spine surgery,French physicians are devoted to take place in the national plan against COVID-19,the French Spine Surgery Society therefore decided to elaborate specific guidelines for management of spinal disorders during COVID-19 pandemic in order to prioritize management of patients.A three levels stratification was elaborated with Level I:Urgent surgical indications,Level II:Surgical indications associated to a potential loss of chance for the patient and Level III:Non-urgent surgical *** also report French experience in a COVID-19 cluster region illustrated by two clinical *** hope that the guidelines formulated by the French Spine Surgery Society and the experience of spine surgeons from a cluster region will be helpful in order optimizing the management of patients with urgent spinal conditions during the pandemic.

Influence and Enhancement of Damping Properties of Wire Rope Isolators for Naval Applications

Wire Rope Isolators (WRI) are well known and used for theprotection of sensitive equipment against non-contact underwaterexplosions (UNDEX) on board Naval Ships, amongst others, whichare extremely destructive and can comple`tely impair the ship’scombat *** WRI exhibit a number of definite advantages, such aslarge deflection capability, modularity and insensitivity to aggressiveenvironment when proper materials are used. However, theirinherent nonlinearity does not always provide the best solution interms of shock attenuation. (Stiffening tension characteristics)Fortunately, there are ways to overcome this problem, namelyincreasing their damping and/ or changing their aspect ratio. It is thepurpose of this presentation to show how to overcome this problemand through analysis, by use of validated models of the shock testingmachines. The existing technology will be briefly presented andHDWRI (high damping wire rope isolators) vs. conventional WRIresponses will be compared on the US Navy shock testing machinesof MIL-S-901D.

Tribologists often rely on triboexperiments to investigate factors that affect a *** inherent dynamic behavior of the respective tribometer setups and its effect on data interpretation remain often *** this study,a comprehensive analysis of sensor data obtained from lubricated and dry triboexperiments is *** are generated on a pin-on-disc test rig with a silicon nitride ball on a steel disc contact with a rotation frequency of~3 ***-speed acquisition of sensor data up to 5 kHz is performed to resolve changes in the data within individual *** characteristic frequencies of the system and their temporal evolution are determined via time--frequency analysis,which reveals periodic patterns in the sensor ***-based data evaluation allows the detection of localized events and changes during an operation and considerably reduces the apparent measurement uncertainty,as compared with an unreduced *** data analysis and visualization routines presented herein may serve as a prototype for further application to tribometer setups.

Investigation of charge carrier depletion in freestanding nanowires by a multi-probe scanning tunneling microscope

Profiling of the electrical properties of nanowires (NWs) and NW heterocontacts with high spatial resolution is a challenge for any application and advanced NW device development. For appropriate NW analysis, we have established a four-point prober, which is combined in vacuo with a state-of-the-art vapor-liquid-solid preparation, enabling contamination-free NW characterization with high spatial resolution. With this ultrahigh-vacuum-based multi-tip scanning tunneling microscopy (MT-STM), we obtained the resistance and doping profiles of freestanding NWs, along with surface-sensitive information. Our in-system 4-probe STM approach decreased the detection limit for low dopant concentrations to the depleted case in upright standing NWs, while increasing the spatial resolution and considering radial depletion regions, which may originate from surface changes. Accordingly, the surface potential of oxide-free GaAs NW {112} facets has been estimated to be lower than 20 mV, indicating a NW surface with very low surface state density.

The Alleged Hard Problem： A Pseudo Problem

One of the most intriguing problems of philosophy is the question whether the human mind and human consciousness can be completely reduced to matter, namely to the brain. A special problem in this context is what has been called the ＂hard problem.＂ The hard problem denies that it is possible to reduce phenomenal experiences to brain states. The hard problem claims that it is impossible for materialists to explain what it is like to feel something. Here, we will prove that the hard problem is a pseudo problem that is based on errors in logic and language. One of the key arguments for the hard problem, the conceivability of zombies, is logically wrong within naturalism, which most philosophers acknowledge. nevertheless, generally all questions of the type ＂What is it like to feel something？＂ are either trivial or linguistically impermissible. The core of the ＂hard problem＂ is the mix-up between non-reducibility and non-describability.

Why Free Will Is Logically Not Possible within Naturalism

One of the most intriguing problems of philosophy and of mankind is the question whether humans have a free will. This question is heavily disputed between natural scientists and especially neuroscientists, who deny free will, and philosophers and other groups, who insist on free will. It is perplexing that both sides base their premise on the same precondition, namely naturalism. We will prove that naturalism automatically leads to physicalism, to materialism, and to reductionism. We will also prove here that it is logically not possible to have a free will if naturalism is true. Free will definitely requires an additional substance, a non-material soul, which cannot be part of our universe. This must not be in contradiction to our current knowledge of natural sciences.

Spatially Resolved Photoelectric Performance of Axial GaAs Nanowire pn-Diodes

The spatially resolved photoelectric response of a single axial GaAs nanowire pn-diode has been investigated with scanning photocurrent and Kelvin probe force microscopy. Optical generation of carriers at the pn-junction has been shown to dominate the photoresponse. A photocurrent of 88 pA, an open circuit voltage of 0.56 V and a fill factor of 69% were obtained under AM 1.5 G conditions. The photocurrent followed the increasing photoexcitation with 0.24 A/W up to an illumination density of at least 90 W/cm2, which is important for potential applications in concentrator solar cells.
