Norma.ized cut-off frequencies, field profile, a.d energies flow of right-ha.ded a.d left-ha.ded circula.ly pola.ized modes a.e derived a.d plotted. We consider both odd a.d even guided modes. Numerica. results of guided low-order modes a.e provided. Some novel fea.ures, such a. a.norma. dispersion curves, a.e found.

In a.recent previous work, we proposed a.rota.ing pola.izer-a.a.yzer ellipsometer (RPa.) in which the two elements a.e rota.ing synchronously in the sa.e direction with a.speed ra.io 1:3. We a.plied this technique to bulk sa.ples. In this work, we present theoretica.ly the cha.a.teriza.ion of 100 nm SiO2 thin film using this spectroscopic RPa.. We a.sume a.structure consisting of a.r (a.bient)/SiO2 (thin film)/c-Si (substra.e). The ellipsometric pa.a.eters ψ a.d Δ a.e ca.cula.ed when a.clea. signa. is received by the detector a.d when a.hypothetica. noise is imposed on this signa.. The film thickness a.d the optica. consta.ts of the film a.e ca.cula.ed for the noisy signa. in the spectrum ra.ge 200 - 800 nm. The results a.e compa.ed with the proposed thickness a.d with the a.cepted va.ues for SiO2 optica. consta.ts.

In this work, we investiga.e the performa.ce of dye-sensitized sola. cells (DSSCs) ba.ed on na.ura. dyes extra.ted from ten different pla.t seeds. The extra.ts were cha.a.terized by UV-VIS a.sorption spectra. The sola. cells were a.sembled using a.TiO2 mesoporous film on FTO-coa.ed gla.s. The photovolta.c properties of the DSSCs were studied under a. incident irra.ia.ion of 100 mW/cm2. The best performa.ce wa. for the DSSC sensitized with Eruca.sa.iva.with a.sola. energy conversion efficiency of 0.725%. Moreover, the va.idity of these extra.ts wa. compa.ed using two types of semiconductor la.ers (TiO2 a.d ZnO), a.d fina.ly the photovolta.c properties of one of these dyes were studied using different types of electrolytes.

In this pa.er, we propose a. ellipsometer using a.pha.e reta.der a.d rota.ing pola.izer a.d a.a.yzer a. a.speed ra.io I：N. Different ellipsometric configura.ions a.e presented by a.suming N = 1, 2, a.d 3. Moreover, two va.ues of the offset a.gle of the reta.der a.e considered for ea.h ellipsometric configura.ion. The Mueller forma.ism is employed to extra.t the Stokes pa.a.eters, from which the intensity received by the detector is obta.ned. The optica. properties of c-Si a.e ca.cula.ed using a.l configura.ions. a.compa.ison between different configura.ions is ca.ried out considering the effect of the noise on the results a.d the uncerta.nties in the ellipsometric pa.a.eters a. functions of the uncerta.nties of the Fourier coefficients. It is found tha. the a.ignment of the pha.e reta.der ha. a.crucia. impa.t on the results a.d the ellipsometric configura.ion with speed ra.io 1：1 is preferred over the other configura.ions.

Engineering of chitosa. by pra.eodymium ha. been investiga.ed to improve the a.sorption properties a. well a. physica. cha.a.teristics of chitosa.. Modifica.ion of chitosa. cha.ges the origina. properties of chitosa. so tha. it ca. be more suita.le for a.sorption of fluoride ions. In this study, chitosa.-pra.eodymium （Chi-Pr） wa. synthesized by impregna.ion method. The Chi-Pr complex wa. cha.a.terized by sca.ning electron microscopic-energy dispersive X-ra. spectroscopy （SEM-EDX）, Fourier tra.sform infra.ed （FTIR） a.d employed a. a. a.sorbent for remova. of fluorides ions from wa.er in the ba.ch system. The va.ia.les such a. conta.t time, concentra.ion of Pr, a.sorbent dose, initia. concentra.ion of fluoride ions, a.d competitor a.ions were studied. The a.sorption efficiency of fluoride ions （n） with increa.ing Pr loa.ing into chitosa. （5 wt.%, 10 wt.%, 15 wt.%, 20 wt.% a.d 25 wt.%） were 35.5%, 56.1%, 72.0%, 68.5% a.d 62.5%, respectively. The Chi-Pr （15 wt.%） complex ha. the highest fluoride remova. efficiency （72.0%）. The experimenta. da.a.fitted well to the La.gmuir isotherm with ma.imum a.sorption ca.a.ity （qma.） of 15.87 mg/g a.d a. equilibrium consta.t （kL） of 0.15 mg. Kinetic study revea.ed tha. the a.sorption of fluoride ions from wa.er followed pseudo-second-order model with a.ma.imum a.sorption ca.a.ity （q2） of 8.20 mg/g a.d a.ra.e consta.t （k2） of 0.01 g/***. a.sorption efficiency of fluoride ions in the simula.ed drinking wa.er wa. diminished with the cha.ges in pH levels. The presence of Pr3＋ in chitosa. increa.ed chitosa.＇s performa.ce a. a. a.sorbent for a.sorption of fluoride ions.
