Assessment of phytochemicals, antioxidant, anti-hemolytic, anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer potential of flowers, leaves and stem extracts of Rosa arvensis

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate phytochemicals and in vitro biological potential of flowers,leaves and stem extracts of Rosa ***:Presence of twenty secondary metabolites was confirmed and then phenolic and flavonoid contents were quantified *** Transform Infrared spectroscopy was conducted to ascertain functional groups and antioxidant potential was examined using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl scavenging activity,total antioxidant capacity and total reducing power *** erythrocytes were used to assess anti-hemolytic activity and five bacterial strains were examined to determine antibacterial potential of plant *** seeds were used to perform phytotoxic activity and cytotoxic potential was evaluated via brine shrimps and PC3 cell ***:Highest phenolic contents were detected in the methanolic extract of Rosa arvensis flower(RAFM)[(151.635±0.005)gallic acid equivalent mg/g]and highest flavonoid contents in the chloroform leaf extract(RALC)[(108.228±0.004)quercetin equivalent mg/g].Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy analysis showed the presence of wide range of functional *** antioxidant assays indicated highest DPPH scavenging activity[IC50(23.5±0.6)μg/mL]in the methanolic stem extract(RASM),highest total antioxidant capacity[(265.1±0.9)μg/mL]in RAFM and highest reducing potential[(209.9±0.6)μg/mL]in leaf extract(RALM).Highest antihemolytic activity[(90.0±0.5)μg/mL]was recorded in RAFM and brine shrimp cytotoxicity potential[(52.3±0.3)μg/mL]in *** antimicrobial activity was detected highest[(21.1±0.5)mm inhibition zones]in RALM against Streptococcus *** the end,antiinflammatory and anti-cancer activity results depicted less than 50%inhibition in the methanolic ***:Our findings will be helpful in designing pharmaceutical regimens and therefore,more studies can be recommended to isolate and characterize compounds associated with the biological activities of Rosa arvensis.

Plant diseases must be identified as soon as possible since they have an impact on the growth of the corresponding ***,the identification of leaf diseases is essential in this field of *** brought on by bacteria,viruses,and fungi are a significant factor in reduced crop *** machine learning models have been applied in the identification of plant diseases,however,with the recent developments in deep learning,this field of study seems to hold huge potential for improved *** study presents an effective method that uses image processing and deep learning approaches to distinguish between healthy and infected *** effectively identify leaf diseases,we employed pre-trained models based on Convolutional Neural Networks(CNNs).There are four deepneural networks approaches used in this study:ConvolutionalNeuralNetwork(CNN),Inception-V3,Dense Net-121,and *** focus was on optimizing the hyper-parameters of these deep learningmodels with prior *** the evaluation of these deep neural networks,standard evaluation measures are used,such as F1-score,recall,precision,accuracy,and AreaUnderCurve(AUC).The overall outcomes showthe better performance of Inception-V3 with an achieved accuracy of 95.5%,as well as the performance of DenseNet-121 with an accuracy of 94.4%.VGG-16 performed well as well,with an accuracy of 93.3%,and CNN achieved an accuracy of 91.9%.

The electrochemical nitrate reduction reaction(NO_(3)RR)to ammonia under ambient conditions is a promising approach for addressing elevated nitrate levels in water bodies,but the progress of this reaction is impeded by the complex series of chemical reactions involving electron and proton transfer and competing hydrogen evolution ***,it becomes imperative to develop an electro-catalyst that exhibits exceptional efficiency and remarkable selectivity for ammonia synthesis while maintaining long-term *** the magnetic biochar(Fe-C)has been synthesized by a two-step mechanochemical route after a pyrolysis treatment(450,700,and 1000℃),which not only significantly decreases the particle size,but also exposes more oxygen-rich functional groups on the surface,promoting the adsorption of nitrate and water and accelerating electron transfer to convert it into *** showed that the catalyst(Fe-C-700)has an impressive NH_(3)production rate of 3.5 mol·h^(−1)·gcat^(−1),high Faradaic efficiency of 88%,and current density of 0.37 A·cm^(−2)at 0.8 V *** hydrogen electrode(RHE).In-situ Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)is used to investigate the reaction intermediate and to monitor the *** oxygen functionalities on the catalyst surface activate nitrate ions to form various intermediates(NO_(2),NO,NH_(2)OH,and NH_(2))and reduce the rate determining step energy barrier(*NO_(3)→*NO_(2)).This study presents a novel approach for the use of magnetic biochar as an electro-catalyst in NO_(3)RR and opens the road for solving environmental and energy challenges.

Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a global health concern which is responsible for most of the liver diseases. Currently, there is no vaccine available for prevention of HCV infection due to the high degree of strain variation. The current standard of care is a combination of pegylated interferon α with ribavirin and boceprevir/telaprevir. This treatment was partially effective and had significant side effects. Hence, there is a need to develop new antiviral agents that interfere with different stages of the HCV life cycle. Recent advances in the understanding of both the cellular and molecular mechanisms of HCV replication have provided the basis for novel therapeutic strategies. Several hundred plant species and their phyto-constituents have been isolated for screening against HCV, and some have been shown to have great medicinal value in preventing and/or ameliorating viral diseases in pre-clinical and clinical trials. This review summarizes medicinal plants and their phytochemicals which inhibit different stages of HCV life cycle and discuss their potential use in HCV therapy.

OBJECTIVE:To report the phytochemical composition(flavonoids,phenolics,saponins,tannins,and terpenoids)and biological activities(antioxidant,phytotoxic,cytotoxic,antifungal activities)of medicinally important plants of Pothohar ***:In the current study various qualitative and quantitative phytochemical tests were conducted to investigate the phytochemical composition of plant extracts prepared in benzene,chloroform and *** same extracts were further utilized in different biological activities i.e.,antioxidant[total antioxidant capacity,total reducing power,and 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH)scavenging assay],phytotoxicity(Radish seed bioassay),brine shrimp cytotoxicity and antifungal activities(against four pathogenic fungal strains).RESULTS:Phytochemical analysis indicate flavonoids,phenolics,saponins,tannins and terpenoids were present in almost all plants however,maximum amount of total phenolic and flavonoid contents was reported in of Malva parviflora and Lepidium *** of Malva parviflora and Lepidium pinnatifidum also depicted the superlative antioxidant activity(total antioxidant capacity,total reducing power,and DPPH scavenging activity).Maximum fungal growth inhibition was demonstrated by extracts of Centaurea calcitropa,Vicia sativa and Malva *** maximum cytotoxicity was shown by the extracts of Centaurea ***,for phytotoxicity assay the highest allelopathic potential was exhibited by extracts of Lepidium *** prejudiced results;the best results were obtained by Methanol followed by Chloroform and ***:Centaurea calcitropa,Vicia sativa,Malva parviflora and Lepidium pinnatifidum are most promising medicinal plants of Pothohar region for future studies.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate biological potential of methanol and n-hexane extracts of aerial parts in seven species of family ***: Qualitative phytochemical tests were done by using standard protocols. In vitro antioxidant activity was performed via different assays and antimicrobial potential was observed via disc diffusion method. Cytotoxic activity was carried out using brine shrimps’ ***: Phytochemical studies revealed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, glycosides, phenols,steroids, saponins, tannins, anthocyanins and coumarins in most of the plant extracts. Maximum antioxidant and antimicrobial potential were observed in Cymbopogon citratus methanol extract and Cymbopogon citratus n-hexane extract along with significant number of total flavonoids and phenols contents. However, Polypogon monspeliensis methanol extract and Polypogon monspeliensis n-hexane extract showed minimum antioxidant as well as antimicrobial potential. Moreover, methanol extracts showed a cytotoxic effect with their effectiveness ranked Polypogon monspeliensis methanol extract > Cymbopogon citratus methanol extract > Phalaris minor n-hexane extract > Aristida funiculata methanol extract > Stipagrostis plumosa methanol extract > Cenchrus ciliaris methanol extract > Panicum antidotale methanol extract. Similarly, n-hexane plant extracts revealed cytotoxic activity in decreasing order Cenchrus ciliaris n-hexane extract > Stipagrostis plumosa n-hexane extract > Phalaris minor n-hexane extract > Aristida funiculata n-hexane extract > Polypogon monspeliensis n-hexane extract > Panicum antidotale n-hexane extract > Cymbopogon citratus n-hexane extract ***: Methanol extracts exhibit significant antioxidant and antimicrobial potential which can be correlated to their medicinal values. The observed brine shrimp’s lethality of the plant extracts revealed the presence of potent cytotoxic components in these plants.

Objective:To find potential peptide inhibitors against the NS2B/NS3 protease of DENV which in turn,can inhibit the viral replication inside host ***:Cyclic peptides were designed having combination of positively charged amino acids using ChemSketch software and were converted to 3D *** NS3 protein structure was retrieved from Protein Data Bank(PDB)using PDB Id:*** NS3 and cylic peptides were docked using MOE software after structural ***:Through molecular docking it was revealed that most of the peptides bound deeply in the binding pocket of DENV NS2B/NS3 protease an had interactions with catalytic *** 2 successfully blocked the catalytic triad of NS2B/NS3 *** 1,,4 and 6 also had potential interactions with active residues of the NS2B/NS3 protease while all other peptides were in close contact with the active sites of NS2B/NS3 protease thus,these peptides can serve as a potential drug candidate to stop viral ***:*** can be concluded from the study that these peptides could serve as important inhibitors to inhibit the viral replication and need further in-vitro investigations to confirm their efficacy.

Evaluation of Pakistan wheat germplasms for stripe rust resistance using molecular markers
