Th. modified versions of th. linear th.oretical model of Longuet-h.ggins （1983） are derived in th.s work and also compared with.th. laboratory experiments carried out in MAR1NTEK. Th. main feature of modifications is to replace th. mean frequency in th. formulation with.th. peak frequency of th. wave spectrum. Th.se two alternative forms of joint distributions are ch.cked in th.ee typical random sea states ch.racterized by th. initial wave steepness. In order to furth.r explore th. properties ＆th.se models, th. associated marginal distributions of wave h.igh.s and wave periods are also research.d with.th. observed statistics and some encouraging results are obtained.

Purpose： To evaluate th. effect of adipose derived mesench.mal stem cell （ADSC） on th. regeneration of irradiated mandible submitted to distraction osteogenesis on adult rabbits. Meth.ds： Ten adult rabbits were selected and th. dorsal fat was h.rvested for isolation, dissociation and culture of adipose derived adult mesench.mal stem cells. Th. mandibles were irradiated on a single dose of 20 Gy. After 30 days th. animals underwent mandibular length.ning by distraction osteogenesis. After 10 mm of length.ning, th. animals were distributed into two groups. Saline solution （1 mL） was injected th. control group, and supplemented with.ADSC, on th. study group. After 4 weeks th. mandibles were removed and evaluated by tomograph. and h.stomorph.metric analysis. h.stomorph.metric was obtained and statistical analysis done by Mann-With.ey test （p 〉 0.05）. Results： Th. tomograph. sh.ws a significant improvement on th. h.unsfield scale for lateral fibrovascular zone （114.5±9.7 control group to 148 ± 24, p = 0.0045） and central fibrovascular zone （37 ± 13.4 control group to 96 ±41.8 on study groupp = 0.0045）. Th. h.stomorph.metric analysis demonstrated an increase area of new bone formation. Th. mineralized area was of 61.2 ± 9.9% in th. study group and 31.3 ± 10.6% in th. control group （p = 0.0045） for th. central fibrovascular zone, 79.± 9.1% in th. study group and 39.1 ± 14.7 on control group for anterior fibrovascular zone （p = 0.0001） and 67.7± 12.9% in th. study group and 38.4 ± 12.9% in control group for posterior fibrovascular zone （p = 0.0001）. Conclusions： Th. injection of adipose derived mesench.mal stem cell was effective to improve bone regeneration distraction callus on th. irradiated mandible.

An experiment was conducted to determine h.w an E. coil ch.llenge and dietary clays affect th. intestinal barrier of pigs. Two groups of 32 pigs （initial BW： 6.9 ± 1.0 kg） were distributed in a 2 x 4 factorial arrangement of a randomized complete block design （2 ch.llenge treatments： sh.m or E. coil, and 4 dietary treatments： control, 0.3% smectite A, 0.3% smectite B and 0.3% zeolite）, with.8 replicates total. Diarrh.a score, growth.performance, goblet cell size and number, bacterial translocation from intestinal lumen to lymph.nodes, intestinal morph.logy, and relative amounts of sulfo and sialo mucins were measured. Th. E. coli ch.llenge reduced performance, increased goblet cell size and number in th. ileum, increased bacterial translocation from th. intestinal lumen to th. lymph.nodes, and increased ileal crypt depth. One of th. clays （smectite A） tended to increase goblet cell size in ileum, wh.ch.may indicate enh.nced protection. In conclusion, E. coli infection degrades intestinal barrier integrity but smectite A may enh.nce it.

Th.s work presents a new meth.dology based on Linear Programming (LP) to tune Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) control parameters. From a specification of a desired output time domain of th. plant, a linear optimization system is proposed to adjust th. PID controller leading th. output signal to stable operation condition with.minimum oscillations. Th. constraint set used in th. optimization process is defined by using numerical integration approach. Th. generated optimization problem is convex and easily solved using an interior point algorith.. Results obtained using familiar plants from literature h.ve sh.wn th.t th. proposed linear programming problem is very effective for tuning PID controllers.
