Presently, there are mainly two problems that prevent Electric Vehicles (EVs) from becoming popular against the Internal Combustion Engine Vehicles (ICEVs), namely: short range and too long to recharge the battery pack of the EV. Due to this, battery development is a crucial aspect to improve the performance of EVs. This progress requires dependable computer aided designs to model the characteristics of a battery accurately and reliably. This paper uses Power Systems Computer Aided Design (PSCAD) to create an equivalent runtime circuit model to observe the qualities of the Lithium Iron Phosphate battery cell under discharge at different temperatures. The model is a 3-r-C branch runtime equivalent circuit model. In order to find the fixed parameters of the circuit, MATLAB was used to implement basic current voltage characteristics. 3-D tables have been used in PSCAD to implement the State of Charge (SOC) and temperature dependent circuit parameters of the model. Once the simulations for all temperatures were completed, the average marginal error between measured and simulated terminal voltage came to be 2.1%, therefore making PSCAD an accurate simulation tool for modeling equivalent circuits of different batteries.

Purpose: Curative radiation therapy is an established treatment option for non-surgical patients with early-stage endometrial carcinoma. Dosimetric analyses were performed using a single tandem, double tandem, Heyman capsules, and an inflatable intrauterine balloon to assess the dose homogeneity and conformality in the definitive treatment of inoperable endometrial cancer. Methods and Materials: Patients’ informed-consent was obtained. Dosimetric analyses were performed using four different after-loading applicators to assess the dose homogeneity and conformality of isodose to the three-dimensional (3-D) shape of the target volume (uterus) based on CT data in four patients (n = 4). The single tandem and double tandems were standard Fletcher-type (Nucletron Corporation, Columbia, MD). Heyman capsules were the disposable after-loading type (radiation Products Design, Inc., Albertville, MN). The inflatable balloon with a central bi-lumen catheter was the Mammo Site radiation Therapy System (Proxima Therapeutics, Alpharetta, GA) that is currently used for local breast brachytherapy. Treatment planning and dosimetric analyses for all four techniques were done with HDr PLATO Brachytherapy (v14.2.3) Software (Nucletron Corporation). results: The average dose gradient within the target (uterine wall) is highest with the tandem methods, followed by Heyman capsules. The intrauterine balloon method showed the least dose gradient across the uterine wall. The corresponding average homogeneity indices were 3.81, 3.83, 2.97, 2.50 for single tandem, double tandem, Heyman capsules, and intrauterine balloon respectively. Conclusions: The intra-uterine inflatable balloon appears to have the best overall dosimetric advantages for the treatment of the uterine wall. Furthermore, the potential ease of use, shorter time of applicator placement, and better patient comfort warrant further investigation and subsequent clinical implementation.

Dear editor,The national incidence of penile fracture in the United States is estimated as 1.02 per 100000 males[1].Nine to twenty percent of these injuries result in a concomitant urethral injury[2,3].Barros et al.[4]reported that 85 out of 888 penile fractures men with penile fractures had concomitant urethral injuries[4].Among those with both a penile fracture and urethral injury,only two cases of urethral stricture were ***,only three percent of urethral strictures resulted from penile fractures[5].These data highlight the relatively low incidence of urethral stricture in patients with penile fracture and concomitant urethral injury.

Purpose： Posttraumatic arthritis （PTA） may develop years after acetabular fracture, hindering joint function and causing significant chronic musculoskeletal pain. Given the delayed onset of PTA, few studies have assessed outcomes of delayed total hip arthroplasty （THA） in acetabular fracture patients. This study systematically reviewed the literature for outcomes of THA in patients with PTA and prior acetabular fracture. Methods： Pubmed, EMBASE, SCOPUS, and Cochrane library were searched for articles containing the keywords ＂acetabular＂, ＂fracture＂, ＂arthroplasty＂, and ＂post traumatic arthritis＂ published between 1995 and August 2017. Studies with less than 10 patients, less than 2 years of follow-up, conference abstracts, and non-English language articles were excluded. Data on patient demographics, surgical characteristics, and outcomes of delayed THA, including implant survival, complications, need for revision, and functional scores, was collected from eligible studies. results： With 1830 studies were screened and data from 10 studies with 448 patients were included in this review, The median patient age on date of THA was 51.5 years, ranging from 19 to 90 years. The median time from fracture to THA was 37 months, with a range of 27-74 months. Mean follow-up times ranged from 4 to 20 years, The mean Harris hip scores （HHS） improved from 41.5 pre-operatively, to 87.6 post-operatively, The most prevalent postoperative complications were heterotopic ossification （28% -63%）, implant loosening （1%-24%）, and infection （0%-16%）. The minimum 5-year survival of implants ranged from 70% to 100%. revision rates ranged from 2% to 32%. Background: Acute lower respiratory tract illness is a major cause of hospitalization, respiratory failure, and death in children worldwide. However, infectious agents are not identified in >50% of these clinical illnesses using traditional methods such as rapid antigen detection assays or viral culture. Objective: To conduct a pilot study using rT-PCr to determine the frequency of respiratory viruses in critically ill children with respiratory compromise. Methods: Critically ill children admitted to the Pediatric Critical Care Unit during 2 winter seasons with respiratory compromise or failure were prospectively enrolled. respiratory tract specimens (tracheal lavage or nasal wash) were tested for 11 different viruses using realtime rT-PCr, including respiratory syncytial virus (rSV), human metapneumovirus (HMPV), influenza A (IAV) and B (IBV), parainfluenza viruses (PIV) 1-3, coronaviruses OC43, 229E, and Netherlands, and human rhinovirus (HrV). results: Thirty-two children were enrolled, 28 (88%) of which required mechanical ventilation. Clinical diagnoses included bronchiolitis, croup, asthma, apnea, and pneumonia. Of these patients, 28/32 (88%) tested positive for one of eleven viruses by rT-PCr. Compared to antigen testing for rSV, IAV, and IBV, rT-PCr detected an additional nine infections for an increased yield of 53%. rT-PCr also detected coronavirus infections in five patients, including three patients with Netherlands coronavirus. Co-infection with more than one virus was detected in 8/32 (25%). None of the 32 patients tested positive for HMPV, PIV 1, or PIV 3. Conclusions: We detected a respiratory virus in 88% of children with respiratory failure. rT-PCr significantly increased the identification of viruses compared to antigen testing. rSV, influenza A, and coronaviruses were the most common viruses detected. The oxidative burst is a critical early event in plant-pathogen interactions that leads to a localized, programmed cell death (PCD) called the hypersensitive response (Hr). The Hr and associated PCD retard infection by biotrophic pathogens, but can, in fact, enhance infection by necrotrophic pathogens like Botrytis cinerea. In addition to signaling the induction of the Hr, reactive oxygen species (rOS) produced during the oxidative burst are?antimicrobial. We hypothesize that pathogens such as B. cinerea survive the antimicrobial effects of rOS, at least partially by secreting the antioxidant mannitol during infection. This is supported by the previous observation that overexpression of the catabolic enzyme mannitol dehydrogenase (MTD) can decrease a plants susceptibility to mannitol-secreting pathogens like B. cinerea. To extend the above hypothesis, and test the general utility of this approach in an important horticultural crop, we overexpressed celery MTD in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum cv. “Moneymaker”). In these studies, we observed a significant increase (up to 90%) in resistance to B. cinerea in transgenic tomatoes expressing high amounts of MTD.
