Quantitative estimation of sediment erosion and accretion processes in a micro-tidal coast

spatio-temporal cross-shore profiles and textural characteristics are the key parameters for understanding dynamics of the inter-tidal sedimentary *** study describes short-term dynamics of the inter-tidal sedimentary environment at beaches along the micro-tidal *** a correlation is estimated in cross-shore morphodynamics and textural characteristics of surface *** sedimentary environment is examined for a complete annual cycle using monthly collected cross-shore profiles and sediment *** Devbag beach(northern side) and Ravindranath Tagore beach(southern side) at the Kali river mouth,Karwar,west coast of India are characterized from extremely gentle to average slope,and broadly composed of unimodal *** sedimentary environment is significantly composed of textures having fine to medium sand,well to moderately sorted,fine to coarse skewed,and platykurtic to leptokurtic in *** the annual cycle a reversal pattern is observed between the two adjacent beaches,where a slower rate of sediment accretion is observed at Devbag beach while Ravindranath Tagore beach exhibited *** beach dynamics along with the propagation of south-west(sW) and south-west-west(sWW) waves towards the coast significantly exhibit a dominance of northward sediment transport with the existence of a northerly alongshore *** addition,the study reveals that an eroded beach may not be significantly identified composed of coarse *** poor correlation in morpho-sedimentary characteristics reveals the prediction of grain characteristics based on beach profile and vice-versa is unrealistic.

Precise control over light-matter interactions is critical for many optical manipulation and material characterization methodologies,further playing a paramount role in a host of nanotechnology ***,the fundamental aspects of interactions between electromagnetic fields and matter have yet to be established unequivocally in terms of an electromagnetic momentum ***,we use tightly focused pulsed laser beams to detect bulk and boundary optical forces in a dielectric *** the optical convoluted signal,we decouple thermal and nonlinear optical effects from the radiation forces using a theoretical interpretation based on the Microscopic Ampère force *** is shown,for the first time,that the time-dependent pressure distribution within the fluid chiefly originates from the electrostriction *** results shed light on the contribution of optical forces to the surface displacements observed at the dielectric air-water interfaces,thus shedding light on the long-standing controversy surrounding the basic definition of electromagnetic momentum density in matter.

Regulation of the sQUAMOsA PROMOTER-BINDINg PROTEIN-LIKE genes/microRNA 156 Module by the Homeodomain Proteins PENNYWIsE and POUND-FOOLIsH in Arabidopsis

The morphology of inflorescences is regulated in part by the temporal and spatial events that regulate flower specification. In Arabidopsis, an endogenous flowering time pathway mediated by a subset of sQUAMOsA PROMOTER- BINDINg PROTEIN-LIKE （sPL） transcription factors, including sPL3, sPL4, and sPL5, function to specify flowers by activating floral meristem identity genes. During shoot development, sPL3, sPL4, and sPL5 are post-transcriptionally regulated by microRNA156 （miR156）. The photoperiod regulated florigenic signal, FLOWERINg LOcUs T （FT）, promotes floral induction, in part by activating sPL3, sPL4, and sPL5. In turn, these sPLs function in parallel with FT to specify flower meristems. Two related BELLl-like homeobox genes PENNYWIsE （PNY） and POUND-FOOLIsH （PNF） expressed in the shoot apical meristem are absolutely required for the specification of floral meristems. genetic studies show that the floral specification function of FT depends upon PNYand PNF; however, the interplay between these homeodomain proteins and sPLs is not known. In this manuscript, we show that the photoperiodic floral induction of sPL3, sPL4, and sPL5 is dependent upon PNY and PNE Further, PNY and PNF also control sPL3, sPL4, and sPL5 expression by negatively regulating miR156. Lastly, ectopic expres- sion of sPL4 partially rescues the pny pnf non-flower-producing phenotype, while overexpression of sPL3 or sPL5 in pny pnf plants was unable to restore flower specification. These results suggest that：（1） sPL3, sPL4, and sPL5 function is dependent upon PNY and PNF, or （2） expression of multiple sPLs is required for floral specification in pny pnf plants.

statistical modeling of radiolytic (6Oco γ) degradation of Ofloxacin, antibiotic: synergetic effect, kinetic studies & assessment of its degraded metabolites

The impact of human activities in the past few decades has paved the way for the release of pollutants due to the improper effluent treatment. Recent studies revealed that, Ofloxacin, an antibiotic as one of the major pollutant affecting surface water and ground water. In this study, the radiolytic potential of Ofloxacin was investigated. The effects of pH, dose and concentration of Ofloxacin were analyzed using One Factor At a Time (OFAT) and the interactive effects between the parameters were studied using Face centered central composite Design. The statistically optimised developed model shows 30% degradation at initial antibiotic concentration of ImM at pH 3.0 and at 2 kgy dose of gamma ray. The process efficiency was evaluated in terms of g value and its correlation with the concentration of antibiotic was also established. The process of degradation was augmented by the addition of H2O2 (1.5 mM). The reaction kinetics for the process was evaluated, the dose rate constant and the rate of degradation for the augmented process was found to be 0.232 kgy^-1 and 0.232 mM/kgy, respectively. The degraded metabolites of the radiolytic degradation of Ofloxacin were analyzed through change in pH, reduction in TOc and gc-Ms spectrum.

Limits on rough-particle sizing with low-defocus interferometric imaging

We present a rigorous theoretical model for the influence of the aperture in interferometric out-of-focus imaging. We investigate the role of this effect on the properties of speckle-like patterns generated by irregular, rough particles. Finally, we determine the conditions under which these patterns are no longer representative of particle size but of the aperture itself and the defocus parameter.

A land-use map at the regional scale is a heavy computation task yet is critical to most landowners,researchers,and decision-makers,enabling them to make informed decisions for varying *** are two major difficulties in generating land classification maps at the regional scale:the necessity of large data-sets of training points and the expensive computation cost in terms of both money and *** geographic Information opens a new era in mapping and visualizing the physical world by providing an open-access database valuable georeferenced information collected by volunteer *** one of the most well-known VgI initiatives,OpenstreetMap(OsM),contributes not only to road network distribution information but also to the potential for using these data to justify and delineate land ***,most large-scale mapping approaches-including regional and national scales–confuse“land cover”and“land-use”,or build up the land-use database based on modeled land cover data-sets,in this study,we clearly distinguished and differentiated land-use from land *** focusing on our prime objective of mapping land-use and management practices,a robust regional land-use mapping approach was developed by integrating OsM data with the earth observation remote sensing *** novel approach incorporates a vital temporal component to large-scale land-use mapping while effectively eliminating the typically burdensome computation and time/money demands of such ***,our novel approach in regional scale land-use mapping produced robust results in our study area:the overall internal accuracy of the classifier was 95.2%and the external accuracy of the classifier was measured at 74.8%.

The exotic deformed nucleus^(31)Ne is studied with an approach that combines self-consistent structure and reaction *** deformed relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov theory in continuum(DRHBc)is utilized to demonstrate that deformation and pairing correlations give rise to a halo structure with a large-amplitude p-wave configuration in^(31)*** the valence nucleon wave functions and angle-averaged density distributions of ^(30)Ne from this theory are used as input for the glauber reaction model to study the observables of neutron-rich neon isotopes to search halo *** NL1 effective interaction,our predictions of the reaction cross sections for these exotic neon isotopes on a carbon target can better reproduce the experimental data than those from the relativistic mean field model for a spherical shape with resonances and pairing correlation contributions,and are roughly 3.3%(∼50 mb)larger than those with gaussian function-fitted densities of the core *** calculated one-neutron removal cross section at 240 MeV/nucleon,and the inclusive longitudinal momentum distribution of the 30Ne residues from the^(31)Ne breakup reaction are largely improved over previous theoretical predictions and agree well with *** reaction evalu-ations indicate a dilute density distribution in coordinate space and are a canonical signature of a halo ***,our predictions with the NL3 and PK1 effective interactions give slightly better descriptions of reaction observables for exotic neon isotopes.

The estimation of covariance matrices is central in array signal processing systems. This note addresses complex covariance estimation for the situation, where the complex data are available only as independent pairwise sets （observations） corresponding to individual elements of the matrix. The formulation for the empirical estimate and the normal maximum likelihood estimate is developed for the general case of different sample sizes for each observation. The approach allows, for example, the estimate of the p by p covariance matrix of a p-port sensor array from a two-port measurement instrument.
