Serum estradiol levels decrease after oophorectomy in transmasculine individuals on testosterone therapy

Transmasculine individuals,considering whether to undergo total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingectomy,have the option to have a concomitant *** studies have evaluated hormone changes following testosterone therapy initiation,most of those patients have not undergone *** are currently limited to support health outcomes regarding the decision to retain or remove the *** performed a retrospective chart review of transmasculine patients maintained on high-dose testosterone therapy at a single endocrine clinic in Vancouver,British Columbia,*** transmasculine individuals who underwent bilateral oophorectomy and had presurgical and postsurgical serum data were *** identified 12 transmasculine subjects as controls,who were on testosterone therapy and did not undergo oophorectomy,but additionally matched to the first group by age,testosterone dosing regimen,and body mass *** was a statistically significant decrease in the estradiol levels of case subjects postoophorectomy,when compared to presurgical estradiol levels(P=0.02).There was no significant difference between baseline estradiol levels between control and case subjects;however,the difference in estradiol levels at follow-up measurements was significant(P=0.03).Total testosterone levels did not differ between control and case subjects at baseline and follow-up(both P>0.05).Our results demonstrate that oophorectomy further attenuates estradiol levels below what is achieved by high-dose exogenous testosterone *** clinical outcomes,such as impacts on bone health,were not *** clinical implications of oophorectomy versus ovarian retention on endocrinological and overall health outcomes are currently limited.

Non-probabilistic solutions of imprecisely defined fractional-order diffusion equations

The fractional diffusion equation is one of the most important partial differential equations（PDEs） to model problems in mathematical physics. These PDEs are more practical when those are combined with uncertainties. Accordingly, this paper investigates the numerical solution of a non-probabilistic viz. fuzzy fractional-order diffusion equation subjected to various external forces. A fuzzy diffusion equation having fractional order 0 〈 α≤ 1 with fuzzy initial condition is taken into consideration. Fuzziness appearing in the initial conditions is modelled through convex normalized triangular and Gaussian fuzzy numbers. A new computational technique is proposed based on double parametric form of fuzzy numbers to handle the fuzzy fractional diffusion equation. Using the single parametric form of fuzzy numbers, the original fuzzy diffusion equation is converted first into an interval-based fuzzy differential equation. Next, this equation is transformed into crisp form by using the proposed double parametric form of fuzzy numbers. Finally, the same is solved by Adomian decomposition method（ADM） symbolically to obtain the uncertain bounds of the solution. Computed results are depicted in terms of plots. Results obtained by the proposed method are compared with the existing results in special cases.

Theoretical Study of Screening Dependence of Aluminium Doped MgB_2

The screening dependence of superconducting state parameters （λ, μ＊, Tc, α and NoV） of six alloys of aluminium doped MgB2 systems are studied in the BCS-Eliashberg-MeMillan framework by employing five forms of dielectric screening function, viz. random phase approximation （RPA）, Harrison, Geldart and Vosko （GV）, Hubbard and Overhauser in conjunction with Ashcroft＇s potential. It is observed that electron-phonon coupling strength and Coulomb pseudopotential μ＊ are quite sensitive to the form of dielectric screening, whereas transition temperature Tc, isotope effect exponent α and effective interaction strength NoV show weak dependence on the form of dielectric screening function. It is found that the RPA form of dielectric screening function yields the best results for transition temperature Tc for all alloys of the Mg-Al-B system. The results obtained using GV screening are much higher than the experimental results. This shows that all the four dielectric screenings used here almost describe superconductivity in all the alloys of the Mg-Al-B system, but the GV screening is not suitable for such an alloy system.

Numerical solution of the imprecisely defined inverse heat conduction problem

This paper investigates the numerical solution of the uncertain inverse heat conduction problem. Uncertainties present in the system parameters are modelled through triangular convex normalized fuzzy sets. In the solution process, double parametric forms of fuzzy numbers are used with the variational iteration method （VIM）. This problem first computes the uncertain temperature distribution in the domain. Next, when the uncertain temperature measurements in the domain are known, the functions describing the uncertain temperature and heat flux on the boundary are reconstructed. Related example problems are solved using the present procedure. We have also compared the present results with those in [Inf. Sci. （2008） 178 1917] along with homotopy perturbation method （HPM） and [Int. Commun. Heat Mass Transfer （2012） 39 30] in the special cases to demonstrate the validity and applicability.

Synthesis and Characterization of Bio-based Epoxy Blends from Renewable Resource Based Epoxidized Soybean Oil as Reactive Diluent

A novel bioresin, epoxidized soybean oil was synthesized by in situ method and was characterized employing FTIR and NMR. The bioresin was blended with epoxy（DGEBA） at different ratios as reactive diluents for improved processibility and toughened nature. The composition with 20 wt% bioresin exhibited improved impact strength to the tune of 60% as compared to virgin epoxy. Fracture toughness parameters critical stress intensity factor（KIC） and critical strain energy release rate（GIC） were evaluated using single edge notch bending test and demonstrated superior enhancement in toughness. Dynamic mechanical, thermal, thermo mechanical and fracture morphological analyses have been studied for bio-based epoxy blends. Curing kinetics has been evaluated through DSC analysis to investigate the effect of bioresin on cross-linking reaction of neat epoxy with triethylenetetramine as curing agent.

Capuli cherry-mediated green synthesis of silver nanoparticles under white solar and blue LED light

In this article, the Capuli （Prunus serotina Ehrh. var. Capuli） cherry extract was used for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles （AgNPs） in the presence of white/visible solar and blue light-emitting diode （LED） light. For the characterization of the extract and the AgNPs, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy were employed, along with hydrodynamic particle size analysis, trans- mission electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. The Ag nanospheres obtained using white light were 40-100 nm in diameter and exhibited an absorption peak at λmax= 445 nm, whereas those obtained using blue LED light were 20-80 nm in diameter with an absorption peak at λmax= 425 nm. Thermal analysis revealed that the content of biomolecules surrounding the AgNPs was about 55-65%, and it was also found that blue LED light AgNPs （56.28%, 0.05 mM） had a higher antioxidant efficacy than the white solar light AgNPs （33.42%, 0.05 mM） against l,l-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl. The results indicate that obtaining AgNPs using a blue LED light may prove to be a simple, cost-effective and easily reproducible method for creating future nanopharmaceuticals.

Effect of Ipomea carnea Jacq. flowers on hematological changes in toluene diisocyanate-induced inflammation in Wistar rats

AIM： To investigate the active chloroform fraction of the ethanol extract oflpomoea carnea flowers on hematological changes in toluene diisocyanate-induced inflammation in Wistar rats. METHOD： Except for the control group, all of the rats were sensitized with intranasal application of 5 μL of 10% toluene diiso- cyanate （TDI） for 7 days. One week after second sensitization, all of the rats were provoked with 5 ~tL of 5% TDI to induce airway hypersensitivity. After the last challenge, blood and bronchoalvelor lavage （BAL） fluid were collected and subjected to total and differential leucocytes count. Flash chromatography was performed on the most active chloroform fraction to isolate an individual component. RESULTS： Treatment with the ethanolic extract and its chloroform fraction at an oral dose of 200 mg·kg^ -1 showed a significant decrease in circulating neutrophil and eosinophil in blood and BAL as compared with standard dexamethasone （DEXA）. The structure of the compound obtained from chloroform fraction oflpomea carnea was elucidated as stigmast-5, 22-dien-3β-ol on the basis of spectral data analysis. CONCLUSION： The chloroform fraction was found to be more effective to suppress airway hyper reactivity symptoms, and de- creased count of both total and differential inflammatory cells.

Shear Strength and Morphological Study of Polyurethane- OMMT Clay Nanocomposite Adhesive Derived from Vegetable Oil-Based Constituents

In the current work,we have synthesized vegetable oil-based polyurethane-OMMT clay nanocomposite(PUNC)adhesive with the incorporation of different wt%of organically modified nanoclay(1 to 5 wt%)into the biobased polyurethane(PU)matrix through in-situ polymerization process via ultrasonication *** the initial stage,PU adhesive was prepared using polyol and partially biobased aliphatic isocyanate,wherein polyol was derived from the transesterified castor oil using ethylene *** formation of PU and PUNC adhesive was confirmed using Fourier transform infrared(FTIR)spectroscopy *** tensile strength of PU with different wt%of nanoclay was determined and the analysis showed that the loading of 3 wt%of nanoclay within the PU matrix showed better performance as compared to the ***,shear strength of PU and PUNC(3 wt%nanoclay)adhesives were determined using lap shear test,in which PUNC adhesive showed higher adhesive strength at 70°***,the dispersibility of OMMT nanoclay within the PU matrix along with exfoliation and amorphous structure was confirmed through wide angle X-ray diffractometer(WAXD)and transmission electron microscopy(TEM)*** phase separation structure was analyzed using dynamic mechanical analysis(DMA).The analysis revealed that with the addition of organically modified nanoclay in the PU matrix,the glass transition temperature(Tg)of the damping curve was shifted towards higher temperature.

Effect of Phyllanthus *** on burn wound in rats

Objective:To evaluate the effect of ethanolic extract of Phyllanthus ***(Euphorbiaceae) on experimentally induced burn wound model in rats and to evaluate whether it reverses the wound healing in steroid suppressed ***:Two models including burn wound model and dexamethasone suppressed bum wound model were used in the *** formulations of ethanolic extract of Phyllanthus niruri were prepared in gum acacia at 8%and in ointment base at 10%and were administered orally(400 mg/kg) and externally *** parameters studied were the wound contraction and the period of ***:In bum wound model,oral and topical administration of Phyllanthus niruri did not show any significant effects in wound contraction and period of epithelialisation when compared to *** dexamethasone suppressed burn wound model,wound contraction rate was increased significantly by topical(P < 0.001) and oral(P < 0.001) administrations of Phyllanthus niruri by about 47.57%and 26.16% *** administration has shown significant(P < 0.05) enhancement of wound contraction than oral dosage *** depressed epithelialisation period was reversed significanUy by topical(P < 0.0001) and oral(P <0.001) administrations of Phyllanthus niruri by about 32.5%and 21.3%***:Both topical and oral administrations of ethanolic extract of Phyllanthus niruri are found to reverse dexamethasone suppressed burn wound healing.
