An application-oriented homogeneous control protocol is proposed to solve the consensus problem of multi-agent system(MAS)modeled by higher-order *** nonlinear control protocol is able to homogenize the linear system with a special degree called homogeneity *** homogeneous control protocol ensures asymptotically/finite-time stable multi-agent systems(MASs)(or fixed-time attractive to compact sets containing the origin)by selecting di®erent homogeneity *** the linear control protocol for each agent is provided,the proposed nonlinear homogeneous control protocol in this paper can be easily implemented without requiring any tuning of the control parameters.A bounded homogeneous control protocol,which is a special form of the controller proposed,is also introduced to address the same problem with input ***,numerical simulations are conducted to demonstrate the e®ectiveness of the proposed approach.

Rapid screening of foodborne pathogens is of great significance to ensure food safety.A microfluidic biosensor based on immunomagnetic separation,enzyme catalysis and electrochemical impedance analysis was developed for rapid and sensitive detection of ***,the bacterial sample,the magnetic nanoparticles(MNPs)modified with capture antibodies,and the enzymatic probes modified with detection antibodies and glucose oxidase(GOx)were simultaneously injected into the microfluidic chip,followed by mixing and incubation to form MNP-bacteria-probe sandwich ***,glucose with high impedance was injected into the chip and catalyzed by the GOx on the complexes into hydrogen peroxide with high impedance and gluconic acid with low impedance,which was finally measured using the low-cost interdigitated microelectrode and the electrochemical impedance analyzer to determine the target *** the optimal conditions,this biosensor could quantitatively detect *** at the concentrations from 1.6×10^(2) CFU/m L to 1.6×10^(6) CFU/m L in 1 h with the low detection limit of 73 CFU/m ***,this biosensor was demonstrated with good feasibility for practical applications by detecting the *** spiked chicken meat samples.

Diverse viromes in polar regions: A retrospective study of metagenomic data from Antarctic animal feces and Arctic frozen soil in 2012–2014

Antarctica and the Arctic are the coldest places, containing a high diversity of microorganisms, including viruses,which are important components of polar ecosystems. However, owing to the difficulties in obtaining access to animal and environmental samples, the current knowledge of viromes in polar regions is still limited. To better understand polar viromes, this study performed a retrospective analysis using metagenomic sequencing data of animal feces from Antarctica and frozen soil from the Arctic collected during 2012–2014. The results reveal diverse communities of DNA and RNA viruses from at least 23 families from Antarctic animal feces and 16families from Arctic soils. Although the viral communities from Antarctica and the Arctic show a large diversity,they have genetic similarities with known viruses from different ecosystems and organisms with similar viral proteins. Phylogenetic analysis of Microviridae, Parvoviridae, and Larvidaviridae was further performed, and complete genomic sequences of two novel circular replication-associated protein(rep)-encoding single-stranded(CRESS) DNA viruses closely related to Circoviridae were identified. These results reveal the high diversity,complexity, and novelty of viral communities from polar regions, and suggested the genetic similarity and functional correlations of viromes between the Antarctica and Arctic. Variations in viral families in Arctic soils,Arctic freshwater, and Antarctic soils are discussed. These findings improve our understanding of polar viromes and suggest the importance of performing follow-up in-depth investigations of animal and environmental samples from Antarctica and the Arctic, which would reveal the substantial role of these viruses in the global viral community.

Elodexanthones A—J, Isoprenylated Xanthone Derivatives with Diverse Skeletons and Bioactivities from Hypericum elodeoides

Elodexanthones A—J (1—10), two pairs of rearranged isoprenylated xanthone enantiomers with an unprecedent 6/6/5/6 tetracyclic core (1—2) along with seven new isoprenylated xanthones (3—9) and a pair of phenylpropanoid xanthones (10), were purified and enantio-separated from the whole plant of Hypericum elodeoides. Their structures including absolute configurations were characterized by the comprehensive analysis of NMR, HRESIMS, NMR calculations, and ECD calculations. Through Bayer-Villiger oxidation, Claisen condensation and electrophilic addition, the rearranged skeletons of elodexanthones A—B (1—2) were generated from isoprenylated xanthone precursors. The bioactivities evaluation exhibited that compounds 3, 5, 8—10 showed anti-inflammatory activity with the IC_(50) values in the range of 9.53—34.39 μmol/L, and compounds 3—7, and 9 showed notable α-glucosidase inhibitory activity (IC_(50): 6.02—257.11 μmol/L).

Identifying sensitive and specific biomarkers for early detection of cancer is immensely imperative for early diagnosis and treatment and better clinical outcome of cancer patients. This study aimed to construct a specific DNA methylation pattern of cancer suppressor genes and explore the feasibility of applying cell-free DNA based methylation as a biomarker for early diagnosis of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC). We recruited early stage ESCC patients from Yangzhong County, China. The Illumina Infinium 450 K Methylation BeadChip was used to construct a genome-wide DNA methylation profile. Then, differentiated genes were selected for the validation study using the Sequenom MassARRAY platform. The frequency of methylation was compared between cancer tissues, matched cell-free DNAs and normal controls. The specific methylation profiles were constructed, and the sensitivity and specificity were calculated. Seven CG sites in three genes CASZ1, CDH13 and ING2 were significantly hypermethylated in ESCC as compared with normal controls. A significant correlation was found between the methylation of DNA extracted from cancer tissues and matched plasma cell-free DNA, either for individual CG site or for cumulative methylation analysis. The sensitivity and specificity reached 100% at an appropriate cut-point using these specific methylation biomarkers. This study revealed that aberrant DNA methylation is a promising biomarker for molecular diagnosis of esophageal cancer. Hypermethylation of CASZ1,CDH13 and ING2 detected in plasma cell-free DNA can be applied as a potential noninvasive biomarker for diagnosis of esophageal cancer.
