Blastocyst-like embryo surrogates from stem cells in implantation models

Successful embryo implantation requires highly coordinated maternal-embryo interactions.Implantation failure is a major factor contributing to infertility.However,the mechanism underlying implantation failure remains unclear.An improved understanding of the early implantation process not only improves the success rate of assisted reproductive treatments but also helps in studying the pathophysiology of reproductive disorders.Owing to ethical concerns,in vivo studies of human embryo implantation are not feasible.However,the results obtained from animal models cannot be directly applied to humans.Over the years,in vitro implantation models have been developed to investigate implantation mechanisms.In this review,we discuss the use of different models for generating embryo-like surrogates to study early embryo development and implantation in vitro,with a specific focus on stem cell-derived blastocyst-like embryo surrogates.There is no definitive evidence that the recently established embryo-like models re-capitulate all developmental events of human embryos during the peri-implantation stage.Regardless,stem cell-derived embryo surrogates are the most valuable tools for studying the mechanisms of early cell lineage differentiation and developmental failures during implantation.

随着数字技术的发展,越来越多的人工智能(AI)技术应用于公共卫生领域,有效提高了卫生系统的运作效率。然而,该技术的发展也带来一系列的伦理风险。本文通过对国内外9个数据库进行文献检索,对AI在公共卫生领域内的伦理问题进行了系统整理,最终纳入158篇文献。对纳入的文献进行分析,将伦理问题从数据、算法、权责和社会影响这4个方面进行归纳梳理,形成15个主要问题点,其中隐私保密、知情同意、数据安全、公平正义与包容问题最为突出。AI在公共卫生领域所面临的伦理问题不容忽视,应制定该领域内AI的伦理准则实践指南,建立健全监管和审查机制,从而确保AI在公共卫生领域的良性发展。

Construction of Ru/WO3 with hetero-interface structure for efficient hydrogen evolution reaction

Water electrolysis is considered as one most promising technique for hydrogen production.The high efficiency electrocatalyst is the key to accelerating the sluggish kinetics of the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER) in alkaline media.In this work,an efficient HER electrocatalyst with hetero-interfacial metal-metal oxide structure was constructed through a redox solid phase reaction(SPR) strategy.During the annealing process under Ar atmosphere,RuO_(2) and WS_(2)in RuO_(2)/WS_(2)precursor were converted to Ru nanoparticles(NPs) and WO3in situ,where tiny Ru NPs and oxygen vacancies were uniformly distributed onto the newly formed WO3nanosheets.Different characterization techniques were adopted to confirm the successful formation of Ru/WO_(3)electrocatalyst(RWOC).The optimized RWOC sample annealed at 400℃ exhibited the low overpotential value of 13 mV at a current density of 10 mA cm^(-2)and strong durability under the alkaline condition.Density functional theoretical calculations further revealed that the promoted adsorption/desorption rate of reaction intermediates and the accelerated kinetics of HER process were deduced to the synergistic effect between Ru and WO_(3)in electrocatalyst.This work provides a feasible method to fabricate highly efficient HER electrocatalysts.

Spatiotemporal Changes in NDVI and Its Driving Factors in the Kherlen River Basin

Vegetation is an important factor linking the atmosphere,water,soil,and biological functions,and it plays a specific role in the climate change response and sustainable development of regional economies.However,little information is available on vegetation vulnerability and its driving mechanism.Therefore,studying temporal and spatial change characteristics of vegetation and their corresponding mechanisms is important for assessing ecosystem stability and formulating ecological policies in the Kherlen River Basin.We used Moderate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer(MODIS)normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI)remote sensing images from 2000 to 2020 to analyse temporal changes in NDVI with the autoregressive moving average model(ARMA)and the breaks for additive season trend(BFAST)in the basin and to assess natural,anthropogenic and topographic factors with the Geodetector model.The results show that:1)the long NDVI time series remained stable in the Kherlen River Basin from 2000 to 2020,with a certain significant mutation period from 2013 to 2017;2)the coefficient of variation(CV)in the analysis of the spatial NDVI was generally constant,mainly at the level of 0.01–0.07,and the spatial NDVI change was minimally impacted by external interference;and 3)temperature and precipitation are the key factors affecting the NDVI in the basin,and changes in local hydrothermal conditions directly affect the local NDVI.The results of this study could provide a scientific basis for the effective protection of the ecological environment and will aid in understanding the influence of vegetation change mechanisms and the corresponding factors.

为了研究碳交易背景下养殖企业和零售商对“种养结合”模式决策的影响因素,研究基于演化博弈理论,采用Matlab软件对演化过程进行数值仿真,对养殖企业和零售商“种养结合”模式决策的演化博弈进行分析。结果表明:系统演化博弈过程中博弈双方的策略选择受消费者碳减排量敏感系数(ρ)、消费者营销努力敏感系数(λ)、零售商营销成本系数(k)、种养结合模式中单位养殖产品碳排放量(e_(i)^(b))的影响;在其他参数不变的条件下,ρ和λ越高,博弈双方越倾向于选择“种养结合养殖,种养结合低碳营销”策略组合;ρ和λ越低,博弈双方越倾向于选择“传统养殖,传统营销”策略组合;k和e_(i)^(b)越高,博弈双方越倾向于选择“传统养殖,传统营销”策略组合;k和e_(i)^(b)越低,博弈双方越倾向于选择“种养结合养殖,种养结合低碳营销”策略组合。因此,为了进一步推广种养结合农业模式,笔者提出以下建议:加大种养结合低碳农业宣传,提高消费者环保意识;设计新型营销方式,提高种养结合产品零售企业营销效率;优化低碳农业技术,减少种养结合农业碳排放。

Ali CPT-1 is the first Chinese cosmic microwave background(CMB) experiment aiming for the high-precision measurement of CMB B-mode polarization. The telescope, currently under deployment in Tibet, will observe in two frequency bands centered at 90 and 150 GHz. We forecast the CMB lensing reconstruction, lensing-galaxy, and lensing-cosmic infrared background(CIB) cross-correlation signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) for Ali CPT-1. We consider two stages with different integrated observation times, namely “4 module*yr”(first stage) and “48 module*yr”(final stage). For lensing reconstruction, we use three different quadratic estimators, namely temperature-only, polarization-only and minimum-variance(MV) estimators, using curved sky geometry. We take into account the impacts of inhomogeneous hit counts and mean-field bias due to incomplete sky coverage.In the first stage, our results show that the 150 GHz channel can measure the lensing signals at 15σ significance with the MV estimator. In the final stage, the measurement significance will increase to 31σ. We also combine the two frequency data in the harmonic domain to optimize the SNR. Our results show that the coadding procedure can significantly reduce the reconstruction bias in the high multiple range. Owning to the high quality of the polarization data in the final stage of Ali CPT-1, the EB estimator will dominate the lensing reconstruction in this stage. We also estimate the SNR of cross-correlations between Ali CPT-1 CMB lensing and other tracers of the large scale structure of the universe. For its cross-correlation with Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument(DESI) galaxies/quasars, we report the cross-correlation SNR = 10-20 for the four redshift bins at 0.05 < z < 2.1. In the first stage, the total SNR is approximately 32. In the final stage, the lensing-galaxy cross-correlation can reach SNR = 52. For lensing-CIB cross-correlation, in the first stage, the cross-correlations between Ali CPT-1 lensing and Planck CIB 353, 545 and857 GHz channels are approximately SNR

Investigation and Hazard Assessment of Invasive Alien Plants on the Campus of Tongren University

[Objectives]The paper was to investigate and assess the species,distribution and hazard status of invasive alien plants on the campus of Tongren University.[Methods]A survey was conducted using line survey method,and the risk assessment index system of invasive alien plants was established by analytic hierarchy process(AHP).[Results]There were 11 species of invasive alien plants on the campus of Tongren University,belonging to 8 genera and 5 families.There were 6 species of invasive alien plants belonging to Asteraceae,accounting for 54.55%of the total.In terms of the origin of invasive plants,most of them were native to North America and Europe,accounting for 27.27%of the total.In terms of harmful level,there were no high-risk invasive plants on the campus of Tongren University,but Alternanthera philoxeroides had the highest score and was the most harmful.[Conclusions]The present situation of alien plant invasion on the campus of Tongren University is closely related to the ecological environment of the campus.It is suggested to strengthen the management of campus plants,focus on the prevention and control of A.philoxeroides,and carry out regular investigation of invasive alien plants on campus to ensure the ecological safety of the campus.

Telomere shortening in patients on long-term hemodialysis

Background:Leukocyte telomere length shortening is a characteristic of premature senescence,a process that can be accelerated by oxidative stress.In general,patients with end-stage renal disease undergoing regular hemodialysis(HD)are repeatedly exposed to oxidative stress.Patients undergoing HD tend to have cardiovascular diseases associated with oxidative stress and inflammation.Therefore,we assumed that telomere length is associated with HD vintage and the degree of vascular calcification.Methods:A total of 144 patients undergoing regular HD before kidney transplantation and 62 patients on hemodialysis,but not undergoing kidney transplantation,were enrolled.We measured common laboratory values,such as calcium,phosphate,and hemoglobin levels,and assessed the degree of vascular calcification in the patients.The leukocyte telomere length was measured using reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction,and Spearman correlation was used for correlation analysis.Results:The leukocyte telomere length was negatively associated with age(rho=-0.306,P<0.01);it was shorter in middle-aged patients than in young patients(13.48±4.80 vs.15.86±4.51,P<0.01).The telomere length was significantly different among patients aged 52-74 years in groups with different HD vintages.Additionally,the telomere length was positively associated with serum hemoglobin(Hb)levels in all patients(rho=0.290,P<0.01).There was a significant difference among patients divided into three groups according to the degree of anemia(17.09±5.64 vs.14.40±4.07 vs.13.99±3.95,P<0.01).Further,a significant difference was observed in the telomere length among patients with different degrees of vascular calcification(16.79±4.91 vs.13.61±2.82 vs.14.62±3.63 vs.10.71±3.74,P<0.01).The telomere length was shorter in the patients on hemodialysis who did not receive a kidney transplant than in the surgical patients(8.12±1.83 vs.14.33±4.63,P<0.01).Conclusion:This study demonstrated that the telomere length was significantly correlated with HD vintage in patients of a certa

A viral propagation model with a nonlinear infection rate and free boundaries

In this paper we put forward a viral propagation model with a nonlinear infection rate and free boundaries and investigate the dynamical properties.This model is composed of two ordinary differential equations and one partial differential equation,in which the spatial range of the first equation is the whole space R,and the last two equations have free boundaries.As a new mathematical model,we prove the existence,uniqueness and uniform estimates of the global solution,and provide the criteria for spreading and vanishing,and the long time behavior of the solution components u,v and w.Comparing this model with the corresponding ordinary differential systems,the basic reproduction number R_(0) plays a different role.We find that when R_(0)≤1,the virus cannot spread successfully;when R_(0)>1,the successful spread of the virus depends on the initial value and varying parameters.
