Asphaltene precipitation modeling through ACE reaping of scaling equations

Precipitation and deposition of asphaltene have undesirable effects on the petroleum industry by increasing operational costs due to reduction of well productivity as well as catalyst *** we propose a reliable model for quantitative estimation of asphaltene *** equation is the most powerful and popular model for accurate prediction of asphaltene precipitated out of solution in crudes without regard to complex nature of *** employed a new mathematical-based approach known as alternating conditional expectation(ACE)technique for combining results of different scaling models in order to increase the accuracy of final *** of three well-known scaling equations,including Rassamdana(RE),Hu(HU),and Ashoori(AS),are input to ACE and the final output is produced through a nonlinear combination of scaling *** proposed methodology is capable of significantly increasing the precision of final estimation via a divide-andconquer principle in which ACE functions as the *** indicate the superiority of the proposed method compared with other individual scaling equation models.

Estimation of rock mechanic parameters is an important issue in reservoir *** compressive strength(UCS)and elastic modulus are the most important factors in determining the rock mechanic parameters in petroleum engineering *** to the parameters in fields such as designing fracture,analyzing of wellbore stability and drilling programming are very *** most accurate method to assign the aforementioned parameters is measuring these parameters in a *** determination of these parameters is problematic work due to technology issues,lack of laboratory equipment and coring problems in oil and gas wells,so indirect estimation of these parameters is *** well log data is the cheapest and most available approach in order to indirectly estimate these *** this investigation,different models including multiple linear regression(MLR)and artificial neural network(ANN)(i.e.,multi linear perceptron(MLP)and radial basis function(RBF))were utilized for prediction of UCS via the three parameters of porosity,density and water *** data were obtained from analysis of sonic,neutron,gamma ray and electric *** best results were obtained from a 3-15-1 MLP network which included one hidden layer and 15 neurons from the hidden layer using the trial and error method,and a 3-17-1 RBF which included 17 hidden neurons and a spread ò of *** core data from one of the carbonate Iranian oil fields(Asmari reservoir)were utilized for training,validation and testing of the networks,and correlation coefficients of 0.68,0.90 and 0.83 were obtained for MLR,MLP and RBF,respectively.

The conventional approach for an EOR process is to compare the reservoir properties with those of successful worldwide ***,some proper cases may be neglected due to the lack of reliable data.A combination of experimental design and reservoir simulation is an alternative *** this work,the fractional factorial design suggests some numerical experiments which their results are analyzed by statistical *** determination of the main effects and interactions,the most important parameters of polymer flooding are studied by ANOVA method and Pareto and Tornado *** of main effects shows that the oil viscosity,connate water saturation and the horizontal permeability are the 3 deciding factors in oil *** proposed methodology can help to select the good candidate reservoirs for polymer flooding.
