Forecasting risk using auto regressive integrated moving average approach: an evidence from S&P BSE Sensex

The primary objective of the paper is to forecast the beta values of companies listed on Sensex,Bombay Stock Exchange(BSE).The BSE Sensex constitutes 30 top most companies listed which are popularly known as blue-chip *** reach out the predefined objectives of the research,Auto Regressive Integrated Moving Average method is used to forecast the future risk and returns for 10 years of historical data from April 2007 to March *** accomplished by comparison of forecasted and actual beta values for the hold back period of 2 ***-Mean-Square-Error and Mean-Absolute-Error both are used for accuracy *** results revealed that out of 30 listed companies in the BSE Sensex,10 companies’exhibits high beta values,12 companies are with moderate and 8 companies are with low beta ***,it is to note that Housing Development Finance Corporation(HDFC)exhibits more inconsistency in terms of beta values though the average beta value is lowest among the companies under the study.A mixed trend is found in forecasted beta values of the BSE *** this analysis,all the p-values are less than the F-stat values except the case of Tata Steel and ***,the null hypotheses were rejected leaving Tata Steel and *** values of actual and forecasted values are showing the almost same results with low error ***,it is concluded from the study that the estimation ARIMA could be acceptable,and forecasted beta values are *** far,there are many studies on ARIMA model to forecast the returns of the stocks based on their historical ***,hardly there are very few studies which attempt to forecast the returns on the basis of their beta ***,the attempt so made is a novel approach which has linked risk directly with *** the basis of the present study,authors try to through light on investment decisions by linking it with beta values of respective ***,the outcomes of the present study und

The paper focuses on developing mathematical models to predict grain size and ul- timate tensile strength of pulsed current micro plasma arc welded Inconel 625 nickel alloy. Four factors, five levels, central composite rotatable design matrix is used to op- timize the number of experiments. The mathematical models have been developed by response surface method. The adequacy of the models is checked by analysis of vari- ance technique. By using the developed mathematical models, grain size and ultimate tensile strength of the joints can be predicted with 99% confidence level. Contour plots are drawn to study the interaction effect of pulsed current micro plasma arc welding parameters on fusion zone grain size and ultimate tensile strength of Inconel 625 weld joints.

A series of 12-molybdophosphoric acid (MPA) supported on V2O5 dispersed γ-Al2O3 catalysts with different vanadia loadings were prepared by impregnation and characterized by N2 adsorption-desorption, X-ray diffraction, temperature-programmed reduction, in situ laser Raman spectroscopy, UV-Vis diffused reflectance spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and temperature-programmed desorption of NH3 techniques. Their catalytic activities were evaluated for the vapor phase aerobic oxidation of benzyl alcohol. The catalysts exhibited high catalytic activity and the conversion of benzyl alcohol depended on the vanadia content while the catalyst with 15 wt% V2O5 content showed optimum activity. The characterization results suggest the presence of well-dispersed V2O5 and partially disintegrated Keggin ions of MPA on the support. In situ Raman studies showed a reduced Mo(IV) species when the catalysts were calcined at high temperatures. The high oxidation activity of the catalysts is related to the synergistic effect between MPA and V2O5.

Pulsed current Micro Plasma Arc Welding is used to joint thin sheets of AISI 304L sheets, which are used in manufacturing of metallic bellows and diaphragms. In this article the effects of pulsing current parameters on weld pool geometry namely front width, back width, front height and back height of pulsed current micro plasma arc welded AISI 304L stainless steel sheets was analyzed. Four factors, five levels, central composite design was used to develop mathematical models, incorporating pulsed current parameters and weld pool geometry. The mathematical models have been developed by Response Surface Method. The adequacy of the models was checked by ANOVA technique. Variation of output responses with input process variables are discussed. By using the developed mathematical models, weld pool geometry parameters can be predicted.

Nickel alloys had gathered wide acceptance in the fabrication of components which require high temperature resistance and corrosion resistance, such as metallic bellows used in expansion joints used in aircraft, aerospace and petroleum industry. Micro Plasma Arc Welding (MPAW) is one of the important arc welding processes commonly using in fabric- cation of Nickel alloys. In the present paper welding of Inconel 625 sheets using pulsed current micro plasma arc weld- ing was discussed. The paper mainly focuses on studying the weld quality characteristics like weld pool geometry pa- rameters, microstructure, grain size, hardness and tensile properties of Pulsed Current Micro Plasma Arc Welded In- conel 625 sheets at different welding speeds. Results reveals that at a welding speed of 260 mm/minute better weld quality characteristics can be obtained.

AISI 304L is an austenitic Chromium-Nickel stainless steel offering the optimum combination of corrosion resistance, strength and ductility. These attributes make it a favorite for many mechanical components. The paper focuses on developing mathematical models to predict grain size and hardness of pulsed current micro plasma arc welded AISI 304L joints. Four factors, five level, central composite rotatable design matrix is used to optimize the number of experiments. The mathematical models have been developed by Response Surface Method (RSM) and its adequacy is checked by Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) technique. By using the developed mathematical models, grain size and hardness of the weld joints can be predicted with 99% confidence level. The developed mathematical models have been optimized using Hooke and Jeeves algorithm to minimize grain size and maximize the hardness.

In the present paper an attempt is made to study various weld quality characteristics like weld bead geometry dimensions, micro hardness, microstructure, grain size and tensile properties of Pulsed Current Micro Plasma Welding of Inconel625sheets. Weld joint was prepared by fusing the two parent metals of Inconel625 sheets. Square butt joint is used and welding was carried out using Pulsed DCEN, without filler wire. Peak current, back current, pulse and pulse width are considered as the main influential input variables during the welding.

Prediction of Weld Bead Geometry in Plasma Arc Welding using Factorial Design Approach

The effect of various process parameters like welding current, torch height, welding speed and plasma gas flow rate on front melting width, back melting width and weld reinforcement of plasma arc welding on aluminum alloy is investigated by using factorial design approach. Variable polarity plasma arc welding is used for welding aluminum alloy. Trail experiments are conducted and the limits of the input process parameters are decided. Two levels and four input process parameters are chosen and experiments are conducted as per typical design matrix considering full factorial design. Total sixteen experiments are conducted and output responses are measured. The coefficients are calculated by using regression analysis and the mathematical models are constructed. By using the mathematical models the main and interaction effect of various process parameters on weld quality is studied.
