Erlotinib combination with a mitochondria-targeted ubiquinone effectively suppresses pancreatic cancer cell survival

Charge density wave(CDW) in kagome materials with the geometric frustration is able to carry unconventional ***, a CDW has been observed below the antiferromagnetic order in kagome FeGe, in which magnetism and CDW are intertwined to form an emergent quantum ground state. However, the CDW is only short-ranged and the structural modulation originating from it has yet to be determined experimentally. Here we realize a long-range CDW order by post-annealing process,and resolve the structure model through single crystal X-ray diffraction. Occupational disorder of Ge resulting from short-range CDW correlations above T_(CDW) is identified from structure refinements. The partial dimerization of Ge along the c axis is unveiled to be the dominant distortion for the CDW. Occupational disorder of Ge is also proved to exist in the CDW phase due to the random selection of partially dimerized Ge sites. Our work provides useful insights for understanding the unconventional nature of the CDW in FeGe.

Prediction of hydrogen uptake of metal organic frameworks using explainable machine learning

Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) are considered as potential materials for hydrogen storage. The hydrogen uptake is influenced by several parameters (e.g., temperature, pressure, isosteric heat of adsorption, BET surface area). Of late, machine learning (ML) technique is used to assess the role of input features on the prediction. In the present study, a few ML models are selected, trained, and evaluated. The best and least performing models are tuned for hyperparameters. The results show that hyperparameter tuning (HPT) significantly increases the coefficient of determination (R2) of the least-performing model, the support vector regression (SVR). In contrast, the improvement in R2 with HPT is marginal for the best-performing model, the extra tree (ET), with a mean absolute error (MAE) of 0.088 wt% and R2 of 0.9945. The predictions made by the hyperparameter tuned extra tree model are explained using the Shapley additive explanations (SHAP) and contours together. The order of importance of input features in predicting the hydrogen uptake is identified as follows: temperature, pressure, isosteric heat of adsorption, and BET surface area. The SHAP dependence plots suggest that pressure is the common interactive feature among the input features in predicting hydrogen uptake. The present study helped understand the role of input features collectively in predicting the hydrogen uptake of MOFs.

Investigations on Low Speed Axial Compressor with Forward and Backward Sweep

In the recent past, experimental studies have shown some advantages of blade lean and sweep in axial compressors. As most of the experimental results are combined with other features, it is difficult to determine the effect of individual parameters on the performance of the compressor. The present numerical studies are aimed at understanding the performance and three-dimensional flow pattern at the exit of swept and unswept rotors. Three rotors, namely; unswept, 200 forward swept and 200 backward swept rotors are analysed with a specific intention of understanding the pattern of the blade boundary layer flow. The analysis was done using a fully three-dimensional viscous CFD code CFX-5. Results indicated reduction in pressure rise with sweep. Backward sweep is detrimental as far as the performance near endwalls is considered. On the other hand total pressure loss in the wake in mid span region is less with backward sweep, which favours its application here. However, backward sweep adversely affects the stall margin. The ability of the forward sweep to deflect the streamlines towards hub gets diminished at low flow rates. Forward sweep changes the streamline pattern in such a way that the suction surface streamlines are deflected towards the hub and the pressure surface streamlines are deflected towards the easing. An opposite behaviour is observed in backward swept rotors.

BACKGROUND Critically ill neonates and pediatric patients commonly require multiple low flow *** limitations are imposed by small body habitus and comorbidities like cardiopulmonary disease,renal failure,or fluid *** access is limited by diminutive *** fluids or parenteral nutrition in conjunction with actively titrated infusions such as insulin,fentanyl,prostaglandins,inotropes and vasopressors may necessitate simultaneous infusions using a single lumen to maintain vascular catheter *** requirement for multiple titratable infusions requires concentrated medications at low flows,rather than more dilute drugs at higher flows that in combination may volume overload small *** To determine whether carrier fluid reduces variability that variability of low flow drug infusions is proportional to syringe size in pediatric critical *** We assessed concentrations of orange“drug”in a 0.2 mL/h low flow clinical model with blue dyed carrier fluid at 5 mL/h,using 3-,10-,or 60-mL syringes.A graduated volumetric pipette was used to measure total *** time to target concentration was 30,21,and 46 min in 3-,10-,and 60-mL syringes,respectively(P=0.42).After achieving target concentration,more dilute drug was delivered by 60-mL(P<0.001)and 10-mL syringes(P=0.04)compared to 3-mL *** overdoses were observed during the initial 45 min of infusion in 10-and 60-mL *** volumes infused after target concentration were less in the 60-mL condition compared to 3-mL(P<0.01)and 10-mL(P<0.001)*** Linear mixed effects models demonstrated lesser delivered drug concentrations in the initial 30 min by 3-mL compared to 10-and 60-mL syringes(P=0.005 and P<0.001,respectively)but greater drug concentrations and total infused drug in the subsequent 30-60 and 60-90 min intervals with the 3-and 10-mL compared to 60-mL *** With carrier fluid,larger syringes were associated with significantly

朊病毒（Ｐｒｉｏｎ）蛋白是人和动物慢性中枢神经系统退化病的传染源，该蛋白的１１３－１２０序列被认为在其致病和传染机理中起着重要作用。以反相高效液相色谱为分析手段，研究了Ｐｒｉｏｎ蛋白１１３－１２０序列多肽的色谱保留行为。通过比较不同温度、不同流动相条件下该多肽色谱保留行为的变化，发现在以乙腈溶液为流动相时，ＩｎＫｗ随温度的变化关系和Ｖａｎ’ｔＨｏｆｆ曲线均比较简单，说明该多肽在乙腈溶液中所采取的构象均较稳定，不易受温度的影响。以甲醇溶液为流动相时，具有游离末端的多肽的ＩｎＫｗ随温度变化关系和Ｖａｎ’ｔＨｏｆｆ曲线比末端羧基和氨基分别被酰胺封闭的多肽要复杂，说明具有游离末端的多肽在甲醇溶液中所采取的构象相对较不稳定，易受环境的影响。这些结果进一步证明，１１３－１２０序列在Ｐｒｉｏｎ蛋白构象变化中可能起着重要作用。

Synthesis and Characterization of Advanced Red Mud and MWCNTs Based EMI Shielding Material via Ceramic Processing

For the first time in the world advanced multi layered Red Mud and MWCNTs (ARMC) based EMI shielding material has been developed at CSIR-AMPRI, Bhopal. Red mud provides oxides of titanium and iron as precursor and the MWCNTs provides electrical conductivity characteristics necessary for making desired EMI shielding materials. The novel process involves unique designing of chemical compositions and mineralogical phases of red mud, MWCNTs together with appropriate additive and solvent which results in the simultaneous and synergistic chemical reactions among various constituents thereby forming tailored precursor powder. Further, the ceramic processing of tailored precursor powder in appropriate environment enables formation of advanced ARMC shielding material having a variety of ceramic phases with multi elemental compositions and multi layered crystal structures. The synthesized material was characterized by various techniques namely XRD, PL, FESEM, EDXA. The reflection loss (R. L.) of the sample was calculated based on the measured complex permittivity and permeability. The advanced ARMC material with thickness t = 1.5 mm showed a minimum R. L. of -35.5 Db at 14.0 GHz with a response band width of 1.8 GHz. Thus, the developed advanced ARMC material acts as a good EMI wave absorber.

Study of Secondary Flow Modifications at Impeller Exit of a Centrifugal Compressor

A computational study has been conducted to analyze the performance of a centrifugal compressor under various levels of impeller-diffuser interactions. The study has been conducted using a low solidity vaned diffuser (LSVD), a conventional vaned diffuser (VD) and a vaneless diffuser (VLD). The study is carried out using Reynolds-Averaged Navier- Stokes simulations. A commercial software ANSYS CFX is used for this purpose. The extent of diffuser influence on impeller flow is studied by keeping the diffuser vane leading edge at three different radial locations. Detailed flow analysis inside the impeller passage shows that the strength and location of the wake region at the exit of impeller blade is heavily depended upon the tip leakage flow and the pressure equalization flow. Above design flow rate, the diffuser vane affects only the last twenty percent of the impeller flow. However, below design flow rate, keeping vane closer to the impeller can cause an early stall within the impeller. Small negative incidence angle at the diffuser vane is helpful in order to reduce the losses at the impeller exit.
