Varying water column stability controls the denitrification process in a subtropical reservoir,Southwest China

Reservoirs are regarded as hotspots of nitrogen transformation and potential sources of nitrous oxide(N_(2)O).However,it remains unclear how the hydrological conditions due to dam construction control the processes of nitrogen transformation in reservoir waters.To address this issue,we examined the spatial-temporal characteristics of nitrate concentrations,δ^(15)N-NO_(3)^(-),δ^(18)O-NO_(3)^(-),δ^(18)O-H_(2)O,relative water column stability(RWCS),and related environmental factors in a subtropical eutrophic reservoir(Hongfeng Reservoir,HFR),Southwest China.We found that denitrification was the most important nitrogen transformation process in the HFR and that higher denitrification intensity was associated with increased RWCS in summer,which suggested hydrological control of the denitrification process.In contrast,low RWCS conditions favored the nitrification process in the HFR in winter.Additionally,dissolved oxygen(DO;pling/decoupling of nitrification-denitrification at the local and global scales.This study would advances our knowledge of the impacts of RWCS and thermal stratification on nitrogen transformation processes in reservoirs.

Given a large number of applications and complex processing procedures,how to efficiently shift and schedule tax officers to provide good services to taxpayers is now receiving more attention from tax authorities.The availability of historical application data makes it possible for tax managers to shift and schedule staff with data support,but it is unclear how to properly leverage the historical data.To investigate the problem,this study adopts a user-centered design approach.We first collect user requirements by conducting interviews with tax managers and characterize their requirements of shifting and scheduling into time series prediction and resource scheduling problems.Then,we propose Tax-Scheduler,an interactive visualization system with a time-series prediction algorithm and genetic algorithm to support staff shifting and scheduling in the tax scenarios.To evaluate the effectiveness of the system and understand how non-technical tax managers react to the system with advanced algorithms and visualizations,we conduct user interviews with tax managers and distill several implications for future system design.

Dear Editor,In this letter,a vision-based fixed-time control is proposed for an unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)with actuator saturation to track an uncooperative target.The fixed-time control is designed in backstepping framework.The relative states between UAV and the target are not directly measured,and are estimated by an onboard monocular camera.

Following China＇s accession to the World Trade Organization （WTO）, it has been impossible to overlook the influence of its economy on the multilateral trading system. Many published studies have examined why China joined the WTO and the comprehensive impacts of WTO membership on China, but few studies have focused on China＇s impact on the WTO. This article attempts to fill this gap by examining China＇s changing role in the multilateral trading system from political and legal perspectives, seeking to shed light on how Chinese characteristics have reshaped the power structure and rule-based system of the WTO. While its accession has made the WTO more relevant in regards to global trade governance, China has been accused of upsetting the WTO＇s rules-based system because of its unique political and economic regime. The WTO and its members should take the Chinese characteristics into consideration and regulate China＇s practices through using the dispute settlement mechanism, promoting China＇s accession to plurilateral agreements and adopting a ＂＇soft law ＂＂ approach.

To help in the prevention of large-scale loss of agricultural production caused by crop pests,a visual analysis was performed on the main research areas,key countries,organizational cooperation,citation sources and current trends in pest research by searching the literature of Web of Science database and using CiteSpace 5.8.R3 and VOSviewer 1.6.18 software.Additionally,the effects and mechanisms of natural products with anti-insect activity were summarized through visual analysis.According to the bibliometric analysis,keywords such as mortality(232 occurrences),natural enemy(232 occurrences)and spinosad(110 occurrences)were common,and insecticides and natural enemies of pests were the main methods for killing pests.However,pesticide use exhibits numerous limitations.Co-occurring terms in visualization analysis mainly included residue(193 occurrences),detection(153 occurrences),degradation(133 occurrences),recovery(103 occurrences),pyrethroid(97 occurrences)and pesticide residues(65 occurrences).Thus,pesticides cannot fundamentally solve food security;pesticides also pollute the environment and endanger human health.Therefore,green and efficient pesticides that can replace synthetic pesticides are urgently needed.Natural products have recently gained attention in Brazil,China,the USA and other countries because they are green and pollution-free,and new natural pesticides have been developed.This visual analysis combined data mining with literature review and summarize the anti-pest activities and mechanisms of action of natural products.This information provides a foundation and ideas for researchers to study the application and development of natural products in pest control.

Gas sensors have received extensive attention because of the gas pollution caused by rapid construction of urbanization and industrialization.Gas sensors based on semiconductor metal oxide(SMO)have the advantages of high response,excellent repeatability,stability,and cost-effectiveness,and have become extremely important components in the gas sensor field.Materials with regular structures and controllable morphology exhibit more consistent and repeatable performance.However,during the process of material synthesis,because of the uncontrollability of the microcosm,nanomaterials often show irregularities,unevenness,and other shortcomings.Thus,the synthesis of gas sensors with well-aligned one-dimensional(1D)structures,two-dimensional(2D)layered structures,and three-dimensional(3D)hierarchical structures has received extensive attention.To obtain regular structured nanomaterials with desired morphologies and dimensions,a template-assisted synthesis method with low cost and controllable process seems a very efficient strategy.In this review,we introduce the morphology and performance of SMO sensors with 1D,2D,and 3D structures,discuss the impact of a variety of morphologies on gas sensor performance(response and stability),and shed new light on the synthesis of gas sensing materials with stable structure and excellent performance.

Printability and hardening performance of three-dimensionally-printed geopolymer based on lunar regolith simulant for automated construction of lunar infrastructure

Using an in situ lunar regolith as a construction material in combination with 3D printing not only reduces the weight of materials carried from the Earth but also improves the automation of lunar infrastructure construction.This study aims to improve the printability of a geopolymer based on a BH-1 lunar regolith simulant,including the extrudability,open time,and buildability,by controlling the temperature and adding admixtures.Rheological parameters were used to represent printability with different water-to-binder ratios,printing temperatures,and contents of additives.The mechanical properties of the hardening geopolymer with different filling paths and loading directions were tested.The results show that heating the printed filaments with a water-to-binder ratio of 0.32 at 80°C can adjust the printability without adding any additive,which can reduce the construction cost of lunar infrastructure.The printability of the BH-1 geopolymer can also be improved by adding 0.3%Attagel-50 and 0.5%polypropylene fiber by mass at a temperature of 20℃to cope with the changeable environmental conditions on the Moon.After curing under a simulated lunar environment,the 72-h flexural and compressive strengths of the geopolymer specimens reach 4.1 and 48.1 MPa,respectively,which are promising considering that the acceleration of gravity on the Moon is 1/6 of that on the Earth.

Bisecting N-acetylglucosamine(GlcNAc),a GlcNAc linked to the coreβ-mannose residue via aβ1,4 linkage,is a special type of N-glycosylation that has been reported to be involved in various biological processes,such as cell adhesion and fetal development.This N-glycan structure is abundant in human trophoblasts,which is postulated to be resistant to natural killer cellmediated cytotoxicity,enabling a mother to nourish a fetus without rejection.In this study,we hypothesized that the human amniotic membrane,which serves as the last barrier for the fetus,may also express bisected-type glycans.To test this hypothesis,glycomic analysis of the human amniotic membrane was performed,and bisected N-glycans were detected.Furthermore,our proteomic data,which have been previously employed to explore human missing proteins,were analyzed and the presence of bisecting GlcNAc-modified peptides was confirmed.A total of 41glycoproteins with 43 glycopeptides were found to possess a bisecting GlcNAc,and 25 of these glycoproteins were reported to exhibit this type of modification for the first time.These results provide insights into the potential roles of bisecting GlcNAc modification in the human amniotic membrane,and can be beneficial to functional studies on glycoproteins with bisecting GlcNAc modifications and functional studies on immune suppression in human placenta.

Transporters comprise the largest family of membrane proteins in human organism, including members of solute carrier transporter and ATP-binding cassette transporter families. They play pivotal roles in the absorption, distribution and excretion of xenobiotic and endogenous molecules. Transporters are widely expressed in various human tissues and are routinely evaluated during the process of drug development and approval. Over the past decade, increasing evidence shows that drug transporters are important in both normal physiology and disease. Currently, transporters are utilized as therapeutic targets to treat numerous diseases such as diabetes, major depression, hypertension and constipation. Despite the steady growth of the field of transporter biology, more than half of the members in transporter superfamily have little information available about their endogenous substrate（s） or physiological functions. This review outlines current research methods in transporter studies, and summarizes the drug-transporter interactions including drug-drug and drug-endogenous substrate interactions. In the end, we also discuss the therapeutic perspective of transporters based on their physiological and pathophysiological roles.
