This study investigated the performance and emissions of flex fuels in a 110-cc BS6-compliant fuel-injected two-wheeler without ethanol adaptation *** tests were carried out under controlled conditions on a chassis dynamometer at 1000,2000 and 3000 *** ethanol blends from 10%ethanol(E10)to 85%ethanol(E85).Parameters examined included brake power(BP)output,brake-specific fuel consumption(BSFC),peak in-cylinder pressure and exhaust ***,including carbon monoxide(CO),hydrocarbons(HC),nitrogen oxide(NOx)and unregulated emissions,were also *** the percentages of the ethanol blend increased from E10 to E85,there was a noticeable improvement in power *** 1000 r.p.m.,the BP ranged from 2.4 to 4.6 kW for different *** BSFC and the peak in-cylinder pressure followed a similar pattern,indicating enhanced performance and fuel efficiency with higher ethanol ***,using E85 at 1000 *** in a significant 41.08%reduction in exhaust temperature compared with E10,although this difference decreased with higher blend ***,replacing E10 with E85 at 1000 *** CO and HC emissions by 9.17%and 38.34%,*** contrast,NOx emissions increased at all *** with higher-ethanol blends,peaking at a 415 parts per million increase at 3000 ***,unregulated emissions decreased significantly with increased *** ethanol *** summary,the use of flex-fuel blends in a two-wheeler resulted in a modest increase in BP output,improved fuel efficiency and lower CO and HC *** findings are vital for optimizing ethanol blend utilization in two-wheeler engines under low-load conditions,considering both performance and environmental aspects.

Analysis of the urethral stricture score and patient-related factors as predictors of outcomes following oral mucosal graft urethroplasty

Objective:The complexity of urethral strictures can predict outcomes following *** previously described urethral stricture score(U score)considered only stricture-related factors to grade the complexity of urethral strictures and to predict recurrence post urethroplasty,but not considered patient-related factors for the *** aimed to study the correlation of both of these factors to the outcomes of oral mucosal graft ***:We retrospectively reviewed data of 101 patients who underwent oral mucosal graft urethroplasty in our institute with a minimum follow-up of 6 *** patient characteristics and stricture-related parameters were *** U score was calculated for all patients which consisted of the length,location,number,and etiology of *** and multivariate Cox proportional hazard regression models were used to determine significant risk factors of ***:The mean follow-up of patients was 15 *** was seen in 28 patients and the mean time for detection of recurrence was 8 months of *** Charlson Comorbidity Index,history of previous intervention,length of strictures,location of strictures,number of strictures,history of smoking,and etiology were independent predictors of recurrence following *** on these parameters,we formulated the modified U score(MU score).The scores ranged from 0 to 6 and a score of>2 was found to be predictive of *** comparing receiver operating characteristic curves for both scores by the DeLong test,the MU score had larger area under the curve than the U ***:The MU scoring system is the first of its kind attempt taking into consideration both patient-and stricture-related factors to predict recurrence following oral mucosal graft urethroplasty.

Internal combustion engines suffer from high cyclic variations that result in higher emissions,lower efficiency,higher fuel consump-tion and poor *** purpose of this study is to investigate how Argemone mexicana biodiesel(AGB)/diesel blended fuels affect the cyclic variability of combustion parameters such as maximum cylinder pressure(Pmax)and indicated mean effective pressure(IMEP)in a four-cylinder turbocharged intercooled common-rail direct injection engine under various engine loading *** chemical and physical properties of AGB produced from *** oil were measured and compared according to the ASTM D6751 *** various volumetric ratios,AGB and diesel fuel were blended as D100,AB10(10%AGB+90%D100),AB20(20%AGB+80%D100)and AB30(30%AGB+70%D100).The IMEP and Pmax time-series data were collected over 200 consecutive cycles at low,partial and high engine loads at a constant engine speed of 2000 *** coefficients of variation(COV)of combustion parameters(Pmax and IMEP)were measured for different AGB/diesel blends and found to be within acceptable *** results show that COV_(Pmax) and COV_(IMEP) decrease as the engine load *** was observed that at low load,AB10 has the lowest COV(Pmax,IMEP),and at partial and high load,AB20 has the lowest COV(Pmax,IMEP)among all the blends.

Hippophae rhamnoides *** a plant of immense ethnopharmacological importance and is a known source for various valuable biochemicals and *** production of folate,a vitamin involved in several vital functions,in this plant is rather poorly ***,we investigate the hypothesis that rhizobial bacteria serve the plant in this essential vitamin’s *** strains of Bacillus,Azorhizobium,Frankia,Paenibacillus,Brevibacillus and Pseudomonas,were isolated from the rhizosphere of the *** and LCMS were used to trace the production of intra and extra-cellular folate by representative rhizospheric bacterial strains in *** the seventeen functionally characterized bacterial strains of the plant’s rhizosphere,thirteen produced significant amounts of *** BR5401 produced the maximum amount of folic acid(424μg/mL),and Bacillus GY779 was the only strain capable of producing both intracellular and extra-cellular folic *** Open Reading Frame coding for dihydroneopterin aldolase,an enzyme involved in folate biosynthesis,was found in one of the representative *** experimental findings help us to suggest that the folate synthesized by rhizobial bacteria is transported to the plant,highlighting a significant benefit of coexistence.

Potential of triptolide in reproductive management of the house rat,Rattus rattus

Mature and healthy male house rats,Rattus rattus(n=160)were fed on bait(cracked wheat:powdered sugar,98:2)containing different concentrations of triptolide(0.1,0.05,0.025 and 0%)for 7 and 14 days in no-choice and bi-choice feeding tests in the *** objective of the study was to record the antifertility affects of triptolide after 30 and 60 days of termination of *** revealed no significant effect of triptolide treatment on weights of testis,epididymis,seminal vesicles and prostate gland of ***,sperm motility,live sperm count,sperm density and sperm morphology in the cauda epididymal fluid were found to differ significantly(P≤0.05)between untreated and treated groups of *** major effect of triptolide on sperm morphology was in the form of sperm head tail separation,which was up to 56.0%in rats treated for 14 days in no-choice and autopsied after 30 days.A significant effect(P≤0.05)of triptolide treatment was observed on the histomorphology of the testis,which included a dose-dependent decrease in diameter of seminiferous tubules,thickness of germinal epithelium and numbers of various spermatogenic *** associations in the seminiferous epithelial cycle were poorly developed in rats ingesting medium(4.7-5.1 mg/100 g bw)and high doses(6.9-7.2 mg/100 g bw)of triptolide than rats ingesting low doses(1.8-2.3 mg/100 g bw)and untreated *** cell stages affected had not recovered fully within the 60 day period following triptolide *** present study suggests the potential of triptolide in reproductive management of Rattus rattus.

Brown planthopper(BPH),Nilaparvata lugens(Stal),is a destructive insect pest of *** damages the plants by sucking the plant sap from the phloem tissues and results in wilting of plants due to reduced chlorophyll and protein *** attacked plants do not bear any grains and cause'hopper bum*condition(Catindig et al,2009).Both nymphae and adults suck sap primarily at the base of the tillers,and therefore their presence goes *** is also responsible for transmitting various viral diseases like grassy stunt,ragged stunt and wilted stunt(Win et al,2011).The blanket use of insecticides to control this pest has resulted in natural enemy death,environmental pollution,insecticide resistance and population ***,there is dare need to develop alternative management strategy for this pest,and host plant resistance can be the effective,economical and chemical-free approach to control BPH.

Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) is the most common type of primary liver cancer, which in turns accounts for the sixth most common cancer *** being the 6 th most common cancer it is the second leading cause of cancer related deaths. HCC typically arises in the background of cirrhosis, however,about 20% of cases can develop in a non-cirrhotic liver. This particular subgroup of HCC generally presents at an advanced stage as surveillance is not performed in a non-cirrhotic liver. HCC in non-cirrhotic patients is clinically silent in its early stages because of lack of symptoms and surveillance imaging; and higher hepatic reserve in this population. Interestingly, F3 fibrosis in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, hepatitis B virus and hepatitis C virus infections are associated with high risk of developing HCC. Even though considerable progress has been made in the management of this entity, there is a dire need for implementation of surveillance strategies in the patient population at risk, to decrease the disease burden at presentation and improve the prognosis of these patients. This comprehensive review details the epidemiology, risk factors, clinical features,diagnosis and management of HCC in non-cirrhotic patients and provides future directions for research.
