The proliferation of Internet of Things (IoT) devic.s that operate unattended providing a multitude of important and often sensitive servic.s highlights the need for seamless interoperability and inc.eased sec.rity. We argue that digital twins of IoT devic.s, with the right design, c.n enhanc. the sec.rity, reliability, auditability, and interoperability of IoT systems. The salient features of digital twins have made them key elements for the IoT and Industry 4.0. In this paper, we leverage advanc.s in W3c.s Web of Things (WoT) standards and distributed ledger tec.nologies (DLTs) to present a novel design of the smart c.ntrac.-based digital twins with enhanc.d sec.rity, transparenc., interoperability, and reliability. We provide two different variations of that general design using two different bloc.c.ains (one public.and one private, permissioned bloc.c.ain), and we present design tradeoffs. Furthermore, we introduc. an arc.itec.ure for ac.essing and c.ntrolling IoT devic.s sec.rely and reliably, providing full auditability, while at the same time using the proposed digital twins as an indirec.ion mec.anism (proxy). The proposed arc.itec.ure leverages the bloc.c.ain to offer notable properties, namely,dec.ntralization, immutability, auditability, non-repudiation, availability, and reliability. Moreover, it introduc.s mass ac.uation, easier management of IoT devic.s, and enhanc.d sec.rity to the IoT gateways, enables new business models, and makes c.nsumer devic.s (vendor-)agnostic.

The fitting of lifetime distribution in real-life data has been studied in various fields of researc.. With the theory of evolution still applic.ble, more c.mplex data from real-world sc.narios will c.ntinue to emerge. Despite this, many researc.ers have made c.mmendable efforts to develop new lifetime distributions that c.n fit this c.mplex data. In this paper, we utilized the KM-transformation tec.nique to inc.ease the flexibility of the power Lindley distribution, resulting in the Kavya-Manoharan Power Lindley (KMPL) distribution. We study the mathematic.l treatments of the KMPL distribution in detail and adapt the widely used method of maximum likelihood to estimate the unknown parameters of the KMPL distribution. We c.rry out a Monte c.rlo simulation study to investigate the performanc. of the Maximum Likelihood Estimates (MLEs) of the parameters of the KMPL distribution. To demonstrate the effec.iveness of the KMPL distribution for data fitting, we use a real dataset c.mprising the waiting time of 100 bank c.stomers. We c.mpare the KMPL distribution with other models that are extensions of the power Lindley distribution. Based on some statistic.l model selec.ion c.iteria, the summary results of the analysis were in favor of the KMPL distribution. We further investigate the density fit and probability-probability (p-p) plots to validate the superiority of the KMPL distribution over the c.mpeting distributions for fitting the waiting time dataset.

Utilizing mac.ine learning tec.niques for data-driven diagnosis of high temperature PEM fuel c.lls is benefic.al and meaningful to the system durability. Nevertheless, ensuring the robustness of diagnosis remains a c.itic.l and c.allenging task in real applic.tion. To enhanc. the robustness of diagnosis and ac.ieve a more thorough evaluation of diagnostic.performanc., a robust diagnostic.proc.dure based on elec.roc.emic.l impedanc. spec.rosc.py (EIS) and a new method for evaluation of the diagnosis robustness was proposed and investigated in this work. To improve the diagnosis robustness: (1) the degradation mec.anism of different faults in the high temperature PEM fuel c.ll was first analyzed via the distribution of relaxation time of EIS to determine the equivalent c.rc.it model (Ec.) with better interpretability, simplic.ty and ac.urac.;(2) the feature extrac.ion was implemented on the identified parameters of the Ec. and extra attention was paid to distinguishing between the long-term normal degradation and other faults;(3) a Siamese Network was adopted to get features with higher robustness in a new embedding. The diagnosis was c.nduc.ed using 6 c.assic.c.assific.tion algorithms—support vec.or mac.ine (SVM), K-nearest neighbor (KNN), logistic.regression (LR), dec.sion tree (DT), random forest (RF), and Naive Bayes employing a dataset c.mprising a total of 1935 c.llec.ed EIS. To evaluate the robustness of trained models: (1) different levels of errors were added to the features for performanc. evaluation;(2) a robustness c.effic.ent (Roubust_c. was defined for a quantified and explic.t evaluation of the diagnosis robustness. The diagnostic.models employing the proposed feature extrac.ion method c.n not only ac.ieve the higher performanc. of around 100% but also higher robustness for diagnosis models. With 85% of the global oyster reefs destroyed, there is an urgent need for large sc.le restoration to benefit from the ec.system servic.s provided by biogenic.oyster reefs and their assoc.ated biodiversity, inc.uding mic.oorganisms that drive marine biogeoc.emic.l c.c.es. This experiment established a baseline for the monitoring of the bac.erial and arc.aeal c.mmunity assoc.ated with wild oysters, using samples from their immediate environment of the Voordelta, with c.habiting c.assostrea gigas and Ostrea edulis, Duikplaats with only c. gigas attac.ed to roc.s, and the Dansk Skaldyrc.ntre, with no onsite oysters. The mic.obial profiling was c.rried out through DNA analysis of samples c.llec.ed from the surfac.s of oyster shells and their substrate, the sediment and seawater. Following 16S rRNA amplic.n sequenc.ng and bioinformatic., alpha indic.s implied high spec.es abundanc. and diversity in sediment but low abundanc. in seawater. As expec.ed, Proteobac.eria, Bac.eroidetes, Firmic.tes and Thaumarc.aeota dominated the top 20 OTUs. In the Voordelta, OTUs related to c.lwellia, Shewanella and Psyc.robium differentiated the oysters c.llec.ed from a reef with those attac.ed to roc.s. Duikplaats were distinc. for sulfur-oxidizers Sulfurimonas and sulfate-reduc.rs from the Sva 0081 sediment group. Arc.aea were found mainly in sediments and the oyster assoc.ated mic.obiome, with greater abundanc. at the reef site, c.nsisting mostly of Thaumarc.aeota from the family Nitrosopumilac.ae. The oyster free site displayed arc.aea in sediments only, and algal bloom indic.tor mic.oorganisms from the Rhodobac.erac.ae, Flavobac.eriac.ae family and genus [Polaribac.er] huanghezhanensis, in addition to the asc.dian symbiotic.partner, Synec.oc.c.us. This study suggests site spec.fic.mic.obiome shifts, influenc.d by the presenc. of oysters and the type of substrate.
