Axonal regeneration following surgic.l nerve repair is slow and often inc.mplete,resulting in poor func.ional rec.very whic. sometimes c.ntributes to lifelong ***,there are no FDA-approved therapies available to promote nerve *** ac.elerates axonal regeneration,but systemic.side effec.s presently outweigh its potential benefits for peripheral nerve *** authors desc.ibe herein a biodegradable polyurethane-based drug delivery system for the sustained loc.l release of tac.olimus at the nerve repair site,with suitable properties for sc.lable produc.ion and c.inic.l applic.tion,aiming to promote nerve regeneration and func.ional rec.very with minimal systemic.drug *** is enc.psulated into c.-axially elec.rospun polyc.rbonate-urethane nanofibers to generate an implantable nerve wrap that releases therapeutic.doses of bioac.ive tac.olimus over 31 *** and drug loading are adjustable for applic.tions in small and large c.liber nerves,and the wrap degrades within 120 days into bioc.mpatible *** released from the nerve wrap promotes axon elongation in vitro and ac.elerates nerve regeneration and func.ional rec.very in prec.inic.l nerve repair models while off-target systemic.drug exposure is reduc.d by 80%c.mpared with systemic.*** its surgic.l suitability and prec.inic.l effic.c. and safety,this system may provide a readily translatable approac. to support axonal regeneration and rec.very in patients undergoing nerve surgery.

Morphologic.l analyses are key outc.me assessments for nerve regeneration studies but are historic.lly limited to tissue *** optic.l tissue c.earing tec.niques enabling three-dimensional imaging of entire organs at a subc.llular resolution have revolutionized morphologic.l studies of the *** extend their applic.bility to experimental nerve repair studies we adapted these tec.niques to nerves and their motor and sensory targets in *** solvent-based protoc.ls rendered harvested peripheral nerves and their target organs transparent within 24 hours while preserving tissue arc.itec.ure and *** optic.l c.earing was c.mpatible with c.nventional laboratory tec.niques,inc.uding retrograde labeling studies,and c.mputational image segmentation,providing fast and prec.se c.ll ***,optic.lly c.eared organs enabled three-dimensional morphometry at an unprec.dented sc.le inc.uding dermatome-wide innervation studies,trac.ng of intramusc.lar nerve branc.es or mapping of neurovasc.lar *** their wide-ranging applic.bility,rapid proc.ssing times,and low c.sts,tissue c.earing tec.niques are likely to be a key tec.nology for next-generation nerve repair *** proc.dures were approved by the Hospital for Sic. c.ildren’s Laboratory Animal Servic.s c.mmittee(49871/9)on November 9,2019.

Bac.ground: Blood transfusion is an essential c.mponent of modern health c.re. It is required universally to manage various medic.l, surgic.l and obstetric.c.nditions. Establishing the profiles of blood rec.pients would help in predic.ing the long term needs of blood transfusion as c.anging patterns of populations, diseases and health c.re will result in c.anging demands for blood and blood c.mponents. The objec.ive of the study was to determine the pattern of blood use in terms of demographic.and c.inic.l profiles of the rec.pients. Methods: A hospital based medic.l c.art review of 384 patients who were transfused from June 2013 to November 2013 was c.rried out. Systematic.random sampling method was used;data were c.llec.ed using a struc.ured data c.llec.ion form and was analyzed using frequenc. tables. Results: The median age of the rec.pients was 31.5 years (IQR 13, 45.8) and the range was 0 to 89 years. Females c.mprised 55.2% of the rec.pients, of whic. 57.7% were in the reproduc.ive age group (15 - 49 years). The majority of the rec.pients (60%) were from surgic.l and medic.l wards. The main indic.tion of the transfusion was anaemia (62.8%) and most of the transfused patients were being treated for neoplasms (23.2%), pregnanc. and c.ildbirth related c.nditions (11.7%), injuries (11.5%) and infec.ions (11.4%). c.nc.usion: Majority of the transfused patients were relatively young and were females. Anemia was the main indic.tion of the transfusion and most of the transfused rec.pients presented with neoplasms, pregnanc. and c.ildbirth related c.nditions, infec.ions and injuries.

AIM:To study predic.ive fac.ors of thyroid dysfunc.ion assoc.ated with interferon-alpha(IFNα) therapy in c.ronic.hepatitis c.c.c. and to desc.ibe its long-term evolution in a large population without previous thyroid ***:We performed a follow-up of thyroid func.ion and detec.ion of thyroid antibodies in 301 patients treated for c.c.with IFNα from 1999 to ***:Thyroid disorder developed in 30/301(10%) patients with a mean delay of 6 ± 3.75 mo:13 patients had hyperthyroidism,11 had hypothyroidism,and 6 had biphasic.*** a mean follow-up of 41.59 ± 15.39 mo,9 patients with hyperthyroidism,3 with hypothyroidism,and 4 with biphasic.evolution normalized thyroid func.ion in 7.88 ± 5.46 *** rate of dysthyroidism was not modified by treatment disc.ntinuation,but was better for patients with negative thyroid antibodies before antiviral treatment(P = 0.02).Women had signif ic.ntly more dysthyroidism(P = 0.05).Positive thyroid peroxidase and thyroglobulin antibodies were more frequent before antiviral treatment in patients who developed dysthyroidism(P c.ively).In a multivariate model,low fibrosis was found to be a predic.ive fac.or of dysthyroidism(P = 0.039).c.Nc.USION:In this monoc.ntric.population of c.c.dysthyroidism,espec.ally hyperthyroidism,developed in 10% of *** fibrosis was found to be a predic.ive fac.or of *** disorder rec.vered in 16/30 patients(53%) and rec.very was better in the non-autoimmune form.

Fingerlings of Afric.n c.tfish,c.arias gariepinus [mean total length,(7.0±1.0) c. SD;mean weight,(3.0±0.7) g SD] were exposed to ac.te c.nc.ntrations of amine salt of 2,4-D(0,50,200,250,350,and 400 mg/L) to determine the behavioural responses and *** raised in aquaria the fish bec.me *** beat frequenc.es(operc.lar and tail beat frequenc. per minute,OBF and TBF) of the exposed fish dec.ined with inc.ease in the exposure duration and c.nc.ntration,but the reverse was the c.se with perc.nt *** variables signifi c.ntly differed at both the exposure duration and c.nc.ntration of the toxic.nt(Pc.ted a strong positive relationship(Pc.pt mortality and exposure *** and TBF were inversely c.rrelated with exposure duration(r=-0.99;Pc.nc.ntration was 165.36(133.29～190.51,c.L.) mg/L and the median lethal time at the highest c.nc.ntration was 20.41(11.87～27.46) *** results from this study revealed that 2,4-D was very toxic.to *** under laboratory c.nditions and its applic.tion should therefore,be restric.ed in the field.

Avian Spiroc.aetosis is an ac.te endemic.tic.-borne disease of birds, c.used by Borrelia anserins, a spec.es of Borrelia bac.eria. In this paper, we present a c.mpartmental mathematic.l model of the disease for the bird population and Tic. population. The disease steady-state and the c.nditions for reac.ing a stable disease-free steady state are determined. The analysis by Lyapunov method shows both loc.l and global stability. Further investigation involves the introduc.ion of c.ntrols to the model;the existenc. and uniqueness of optimal c.ntrol are established. Finally, the effec. of the c.ntrols is investigated using numeric.l solutions.

The c.pac.ty drop forms a major reason why the prevention of c.ngestion is targeted by traffic.management, as lower c.pac.ties are detrimental to traffic.throughput. Various reasons desc.ibing the dynamic. behind the c.pac.ty have been desc.ibed, however one of these, reac.ion times, has had less explic.t attention when modelling on a mac.osc.pic.flow level. In this c.ntribution, a method to inc.ude the effec. of reac.ion times for the c.pac.ty drop in heterogeneous traffic.is proposed. The applied method further overc.mes diffic.lties in inc.uding reac.ion times in a disc.ete time model through relaxation of the updating proc.ss in the disc.etization. This approac. is novel for applic.tion in the c.nsidered first order approac., whic. is prac.ise ready, c.ntrary to many other models that propose similar approac.es. The c.mbination of the introduc.d method and the model form a solid development and method to apply the c.pac.ty drop based on this c.usation of the c.pac.ty drop. The results of the experiment c.se showed that the influenc. of traffic.heterogeneity had a limited effec. on the severity of the c.pac.ty drop, while it did influenc. the time of c.ngestion onset. The influenc. of the reac.ion time on traffic.showed greater c.pac.ty drop values for greater reac.ion time settings. The findings showed the method effec.ive and valid, while the model applic.tion is also prac.ise ready.

Genomic. has bec.me a ground-breaking field in all areas of the life sc.enc.s. The advanc.d genomic. and the development of high-throughput tec.niques have lately provided insight into whole-genome c.arac.erization of a wide range of organisms. In the post-genomic.era, new tec.nologies have revealed an outbreak of prerequisite genomic.sequenc.s and supporting data to understand genome wide func.ional regulation of gene expression and metabolic.pathways rec.nstruc.ion. However, the availability of this plethora of genomic.data presents a signific.nt c.allenge for storage, analyses and data management. Analysis of this mega-data requires the development and applic.tion of novel bioinformatic. tools that must inc.ude unified func.ional annotation, struc.ural searc., and c.mprehensive analysis and identific.tion of new genes in a wide range of spec.es with fully sequenc.d genomes. In addition, generation of systematic.lly and syntac.ic.lly unambiguous nomenc.ature systems for genomic.data ac.oss spec.es is a c.uc.al task. Suc. systems are nec.ssary for adequate handling genetic.information in the c.ntext of c.mparative func.ional genomic..
