We report on the bromatological profile,the preliminary phytochemical composition,the antioxidant capacity,and the in vitro neuroprotective effects of Blackberry Jam *** were the major macronutrients(20 g/100 g)in both pulp and seeds(36.5 g/100g),that also possess a low lipid content(0.1 g/100 g and 0.7 g/100,and 86 Kcal/100 g,respectively).Eleven compounds including a diterpenoid dimmer,a lactone,coumarins,sphingosines,and flavonoids have been identified for the first time in the pulp and seeds of *** by mass *** electrochemical index of the hydroalcoholic extract of the pulp(BJFp respectively)and an appreciable energy value(89 Kcal/100 g)was around 6.8μA/V and two reversible cathode peaks were observed up to 0.5 V,thus shedding light to its antioxidant capacity,which was also evidenced by the DPPH•and ABTS+radical scavenging assays(IC50 of 3.30±0.23μg/mL and 18.17±1.21μg/mL,respectively).The BJFp protected against oxidative stress in vitro by significantly decreasing both the lipid peroxidation and contents of carbonyl proteins in a dose-dependent manner in murine brain cells treated with H_(2)O_(2).Conversely,the BJFp increased the superoxide dismutase(EC50 of 11.99±0.35μg/mL)and catalase(EC_(50) of 69.53±0.43μg/mL)*** BJFp markedly decreased both the in vitro acetylcholinesterase(IC50 of 227.9±0.34μg/mL)and butyrylcholinesterase(IC_(50) of 8.77±0.40μg/mL)***,besides being a great source of energy,this Amazon superfruit may be promising for enhancing the treatment outcomes of ailments related to oxidative stress,which require further in vivo investigation.

In this paper, data analysis and modeling of gamma ray tomography taken into account spatial resolution and source of errors and the attenuation coefficient measurement in row data from tomography process are presented. The results showed that this method is simple, effective and should be prior to any data treatment for opaque vessel reactor and by reconstruction algorithm in process imaging.

Plant growth and nutrient use efficiency of two native Fabaceae species for mineland revegetation in the eastern Amazon

The primary challenge of mineland revegetation is the establishment of species able to cope with low availability of nutrients,especially in steep slopes such as of mine *** evaluated plant growth response and nutrient use efficiency(NUE)of two promising native Fabaceae species(Dioclea apurensis—liana from metalliferous savannas;Bauhinia longipedicellata—tree from Amazon rainforest)from the Caraja´s Mineral Province,eastern *** were grown separately in 2-kg pots filled with mining *** were fertilized with nitrogen,phosphorus,potassium(NPK),lime,and *** results showed increments on growth of both species when nutrients were applied to the mining *** showed increases in leaf area,plant height,stem diameter,and shoot dry mass production when NPK or NPK?micronutrients were applied,while *** was responsive to application of NPK?lime or NPK?lime?***,*** showed higher NUE than ***,especially at the lowest doses of N,P and *** findings may indicate a substantial advantage of *** for mineland revegetation,as this species may require lower nutrient inputs,being,therefore,a more sustainable way to revegetate degraded areas.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the performance of oral functions and oral conditions in children and adolescents with overweight or obesity, investigating possible associations with treatment for weight reduction. developing a cross-sectional research and quantitative approach with inductive and descriptive and critical analysis of data, such as from a range of 95%, the universe was represented by children and adolescents who were overweight or obese, in both sexes, treated at reference centers for the treatment of obesity by the National Health System, in Campina Grande, Paraíba, 2010-2012. As the control group considered subjects of the same age, in the process of screening for attention in the places listed, but without the condition of overweight or obese, the research was started after the approval by the Ethics Resarch Committee of the UEPB under the protocol number 0513.***.133.000-09. As instruments for data collection were used in the questionnaire and clinical examination, of the 70 surveyed, most were female, ranging in age from 3 to 17 years, overweight, without comorbidities and carriers of deleterious oral habits;especially the nail biting, significantly associated with female sex p dex, the presence of visible biofilm and the frequency of halitosis, for groups with overweight or obesity, with association between time of treatment and medications.

BACKGROUND Hepatitis C virus(HCV)infection is responsible for a chronic liver inflammation,which may cause end-stage liver disease and hepatocellular *** E(protein:ApoE,gene:APOE),a key player in cholesterol metabolism,is mainly synthesized in the liver and APOE polymorphisms may influence HCV-induced liver *** To determine whether APOE alleles affect outcomes in HCV-infected patients with liver cirrhosis following orthotopic liver transplantation(OLT).METHODS This was a cohort study in which 179 patients,both genders and aged 34-70 years,were included before or after(up to 10 years follow-up)*** injury severity was assessed using different criteria,including METAVIR and models for endstage liver *** polymorphisms were analyzed by quantitative real-time polymerase chain *** The APOE3 allele was the most common(67.3%).In inflammation severity of biopsies from 89 OLT explants and 2 patients in pre-transplant,the degree of severe inflammation(A3F4,0.0%)was significantly less frequent than in patients with minimal and moderate degree of inflammation(≤A2F4,16.2%)P=0.048,in patients carrying the APOE4 allele when compared to *** addition,a significant difference was also found(≤A2F4,64.4%vs A3F4,0.0%;P=0.043)and(A1F4,57.4%vs A3F4,0.0%;P=0.024)in APOE4 patients when compared to APOE3 *** fibrosis degree of the liver graft in 8 of 91 patients and the lack of the E4 allele was associated with more moderate fibrosis(F2)(P=0.006).CONCLUSION Our results suggest that the E4 allele protects against progression of liver fibrosis and degree of inflammation in HCV-infected patients.

A determinant factor in the pathology of canine angiostrongylosis seems to be related to the location of the parasite in the definitive host. Their presence inside the arteries and its branches, promoting mechanical and metabolic action on the wall of the vessels, may alter its homeostasis. Bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) is a procedure that retrieves cells and other elements from de lungs for evaluation, and helps in the diagnosis of many pulmonary diseases. The aim of this study was to evaluate CD4+/CD8+ lymphocyte profile during the infection by Angiostrongylus vasorum, using cells retrieved using BAL. The identification of subpopulations of T lymphocytes by evaluating the co-expression of CD4 and CD8 receptor proteins has shown that despite the increase in both populations, there was a predominance of CD4+ T-cells, instead of CD8+ T-cells. These increases of CD4+ T-cells associated with the increase of the ratio between CD4+/CD8+ suggest polarization of a Th2 response. However, the immune cells, signaling factors, and cytokines that mediate such immunity and how and where they act within the body remain largely undefined during angiostrongylosis.
