In this work, several procedures for the fault detection and isolation （FDI） on general aviation aircraft sensors are presented. In order to provide a comprehensive wide-pectrum treatment, both linear and nonlinear, model-based and data-driven methodologies are considered. The main contributions of the paper are related to the development of both FDI polynomial method （PM） and FDI scheme based on the nonLinear geometric approach （NLGA）. As to the PM, the obtained results highlight a good trade-off between solution complexity and resulting performances. Moreover, the proposed PM is especially useful when robust solutions are required for minimising the effects of modelling errors and noise, while maximising fault sensitivity. As to the NLGA, the proposed work is the first development and robust application of the NLGA to an aircraft model in flight conditions characterised by tight-oupled longitudinal and lateral dynamics. In order to verify the robustness of the residual generators related to the previous FDI techniques, the simulation results adopt a typical aircraft reference trajectory embedding several steady-tate flight conditions, such as straight flight phases and coordinated turns. Moreover, the simulations are performed in the presence of both measurement and modelling errors. Finally, extensive simulations are used for assessing the overall capabilities of the developed FDI schemes and a comparison with neural networks （NN） and unknown input Kalman filter （UIKF） diagnosis methods is performed.

Inorganic phosphate(Pi) is an essential nutrient to living organisms. It is required as a component of the energy metabolism,kinase/phosphatase signaling and in the formation and function of lipids,carbohydrates and nucleic acids and,at systemic level,it plays a key role for normal skeletal and dentin mineralization. Pi represents an abundant dietary element and its intestinal absorption is efficient,minimally regulated and typically extends to approximately 70%. Maintenance of proper Pi homeostasis is a critical event and serum Pi level is maintained within a narrow range through an elaborate network of humoral interactions and feedback loops involving intestine,kidney,parathyroid gland and bone,and depends on the activity of a number of hormones,including parathyroid hormone,1,25-dihydroxy vitamin D,and fibroblast growth factor 23 as major regulators of Pi homeostasis. Notably,Pi intake seemingly continues to increase as a consequence of chronic high-phosphorus(P) diets deriving from the growing consumption of highly processed foods,especially restaurant meals,fast foods,and convenience foods. Several recent reports have generated significant associations between high-P intake or high-serum Pi concentration and morbidity and mortality. Many chronic diseases,including cardiovascular diseases,obesity and even cancer have been proposed to be associated with high-P intakes and high-serum Pi concentrations. On the other hand,there is also evidence that Pi can have antiproliferative effects on some cancer cell types,depending on cell status and genetic background and achieve additive cytotoxic effects when combined with doxorubicin,illustrating its potential for clinical applications and suggesting that up-regulating Pi levels at local sites for brief times,might contribute to the development of novel and cheap modalities for therapeutic intervention in some tumours. Porous Calcium Phosphate Ceramic Scaffolds for Tissue Engineering

This study examined the biological response of two porous calcium phosphate ceramics, hydroxyapntite （ HA ） and hydroxyapaptite/β-tricalcium phosphate （ HA/β- TCP ） scaffolds. Three different cell types , a human osteoblastic cell line （ HOS ） , primary human osteoblasts （HOB） and human mesenehymal stem cells （MSCs）, were used to examine biocompatibility and osteoinductive capacity. The experimental results showed both materials were highly biocompatible and proliferation was significantly greater on pure HA （ P 〈 0.01 ）, with a peak in proliferation at day 7. Protein levels were significantly higher （ P 〈 0.05） than the control Thermanox（ TMX （ tm）） for both test materials. Osteoinduction of MSCs was observed on both test materials, with cells seeded on HA/ β-TCP showing greater alkaline phosphatase activity compared to HA alone, indicating an enhancement in osteoinductive property. Both materials show good potential for use as tissue engineered scaffolds.

Optimizing the dataset size of a topo-bathymetric survey for Hammam Debagh Dam, Algeria

The capacity of water reservoirs may be considerably reduced by sediment transport and *** phenomenon may occur quickly in regions prone to erosion, such as Hammam Debagh Dam region in Algeria. For better management of water resources, it is important to estimate the volume of a reservoir by regular and frequent topo-bathymetric surveys. Topo-bathymetric surveys with a high point measurement density are expensive and time-consuming. To reduce this expense and to increase the frequency of topo-bathymetric surveys, it is required to optimize their size and density. The complete survey of the reservoir created by the Hammam Debagh Dam in Algeria was examined in comparison with 19 reduction subsets using geostatistics. The study showed that the complete dataset of 32,164 points, corresponding to a density of 42 points ha-1could be reduced to 10,000 points, i.e. 13 points ha-1,without affecting the estimation of the water volume in the reservoir. This reduction could considerably simplify the work load, reduce the expenses to do these surveys, and, therefore, allow for an increased frequency of topo-bathymetric surveys.
