本文通过昆虫学家蒲蛰龙及其生物害虫防治研究工作的个案,探讨20世纪50—70年代中国的主流科学观。本文首先指出,(激进的)"革命主义"不能简单地等同于"反科学",或仅注重科学的技术应用方面。革命主义的科学观与其他科学观的不同之处在于,它主张一种"群众性科学",要求技术性的、专业的"专"知识和来自外国的、学院式的"洋"知识与政治的、革命性的"红"知识和"土"知识结合起来,实际上更多的是服从于"红"知识和"土"知识。通过蒲蛰龙的个案,我们可以看到一个科学家如何在自相矛盾的科学观中求得平衡。这一个案清楚地展示了,为取得符合国家政治目标的科学成就,蒲蛰龙是怎样设法在红与专、土与洋之间取得平衡的。此外,这一个案还提供了一种讨论的角度:不同的时代如何衡量科学成就。就蒲蛰龙的工作而言,20世纪50—70年代的叙事所强调的那些方面,与改革开放后的叙事截然不同。本文指出,为了全面地理解20世纪50—70年代中国的科学事业,历史学者必须综合三种叙事:其一是强调专业性和跨国科学的叙事,其二是强调扎根农民和自力更生的叙事,其三是强调个人经历和人际关系的叙事。

背景平滑肌瘤是常见的食管良性肿瘤,术前若能排除恶性的可能,则可通过胸腔镜或腹腔镜进行最小侵入性的手术治疗。方法此处报道2例手术,均借助内镜接近术位,一例通过胸腔镜切除了一个食管中部的肿瘤,另一例通过腹腔镜切除了一个食管末端的肿瘤。通过这种胸腔镜与内镜并用和腹腔镜与内镜并用的方法,切除手术较简单,也避免了在身体上做切口。结论推荐采用最小侵入性手术疗法切除良性的食管黏膜下肿瘤。位于食管中部和下部三分之一段的肿瘤可以很容易地被切除。推荐在手术中并用内镜控制以避免损伤黏膜。

Finnish men have had a reputation for good semen quality. This was based on semen studies comparing Finnish men with other europeans. However, those studies also showed that sperm concentrations of young men from the general population were only two-thirds of those of fertile men. Longitudinal follow-up of semen quality in young Finnish men showed a sig- nificant decline during 1998-2006, suggesting that Finland is following the global trend of impaired male reproductive health.

AIM： To analyze the ability of nine different potentially probiotic bacteria to induce maturation and cytokine production in human monocyte-derived dendritic cells （moDCs）. MeTHODS： Cytokine production and maturation of moDCs in response to bacterial stimulation was analyzed with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay （eLISA） and flow cytometric analysis （FACS）, respectively. The kinetics of mRNA expression of cytokine genes was determined by Northern blotting. The involvement of different signaling pathways in cytokine gene expression was studied using specific pharmacological signaling inhibitors. ReSULTS： All studied bacteria induced the maturation of moDCs in a dose-dependent manner. More detailed analysis with S. thermophilus THS, B. breve Bb99, and L. lactis subsp, cremoris ARH74 indicated that these bacteria induced the expression of moDC maturation markers HLA class Ⅱ and CD86 as efficiently as pathogenic bacteria. However, these bacteria differed in their ability to induce moDC cytokine gene expression. S. thermophilus induced the expression of pro-inflammatory （TNF-α, IL-12, IL-6, and CCL20） and Thl type （IL-12 and IFN-γ） cytokines, while B. breve and L. lactis were also potent inducers of antiinflammatory IL-10. Mitogen-activated protein kinase （MAPK） p38, phosphatidylinositol 3 （PI3） kinase, and nuclear factor-kappa B （NF-κB） signaling pathways were shown to be involved in bacteria-induced cytokine production. CONCLUSION： Our results indicate that potentially probiotic bacteria are able to induce moDC maturation, but their ability to induce cytokine gene expression varies significantly from one bacterial strain to another,

AIM: To study milk consumption and subjective milk- related symptoms in adults genotyped for adult-type hypolactasia. MeTHODS: A total of 1900 Finnish adults were genotyped for the C/T-13910 variant of adult-type hypolactasia and filled in a structured questionnaire concerning milk consumption and gastrointestinal problems. ReSULTS: The C/C-13910 genotype of adult-type hypolactasia was present in 18% of the study population. The prevalence of the C/C-13910 genotype was higher among subjects who were undergoing investigations because of abdominal symptoms (24%, P e with the C/C-13910 genotype drank less milk than subjects with either the C/T-13910 or the T/T-13910 genotype of lactase persistence (18% vs 38%; 18% vs 36%, P ects with the C/C-13910 genotype had experienced more gastrointestinal symptoms (84%) during the preceding three-month period than those with the C/T-13910 (79%, P e T/T-13910 genotype (78 %, P e subjects with the C/C-13910 genotype consumed milk and reported no symptoms from ***: Gastrointestinal symptoms are more common among adults with the C/C-13910 genotype of adult-type hypolactasia than in those with genotypes of lactase persistence.
