Mechanical, tribological and anti-corrosive properties of polyaniline/graphene coated Mg-9Li-7Al-1Sn and Mg-9Li-5Al-3Sn-1Zn alloys

The mechanical,tribological and corrosion protection offered to Mg-9Li-7Al-1Sn and Mg-9Li-5Al-3Sn-1Zn alloys by the epoxy coating containing polyaniline/graphene(PANI/Gr)pigments is undertaken in the current ***/Gr containing coatings were observed to be strongly adherent with a higher scratch hardness(hs)and plowing hardness(hp),*** 0.43 GPa,and hpof 0.61 GPa,respectively when compared to that of neat epoxy coating(hsof 0.17 GPa,and hpof 0.40 GPa,respectively).Due to their higher hsand hpvalues,PANI/Gr based coatings displayed an enhanced wear resistance(Wear volume,Wv=4.53×10^-3 m^3)than that of neat epoxy coating(Wv=5.15×10^-3 m^3).The corrosion protection efficiency in corrosive environment of 3.5 wt%NaCl solution was obtained to be>99% for PANI/Gr containing coatings when compared to that of neat epoxy *** charge-transfer resistance(R(ct))of the PANI/Gr containing coatings were estimated to be>10^6 cm^2,which indicates their highly protective nature when compared to that of neat epoxy coating(R(ct)10^5 Ω cm^2).hence,PANI/Gr containing coatings can be potentially used for wear resistance and corrosion protection applications in marine environments.

BACKGROUND: Motor vehicle crash(MVC) related injury has been identified as a major public health concern. Child restrain(CR) seat belts can minimize the mortality and morbidity from MVC. The use for seat belts is substantially low in developing countries like Pakistan even though its use has been shown to decrease morbidity and mortality by a significant ***: This was a case control study with cases from the general population(GP) and controls from the Aga Khan University(AKU) employees in a 3:1 ratio. The study questionnaire was based on parameters like gender, education level, awareness and presence of CR and also assessed the frequency of usage, reasons for not using CR and the source of knowledge regarding CR ***: Out of 848 respondents, 212 were from AKU and 636 were from the GP. 96.7% from AKU had at least a bachelor's degree while less than half(42.6%) of those from the GP were graduate or above(Phe two groups with drivers from AKU being generally more aware about CR and its use. 81.1% of the group from AKU compared to 59.7% from the general population were found to be aware of child restraint use(Phe most common source of information amongst the AKU ***: Most motor vehicle related injuries in children can be prevented or their severity may be reduced by the use of appropriate child restraint seat belts.

Environmental Exposure to Lead as a Risk for Prostate Cancer

Objective To evaluate the possible role of environmental exposure to lead as a risk factor for prostate pathology in patients suffering from prostate cancer (PCA) and benign prostate hyperplasia (BPh). Methods Blood lead (BPb) level was determined in PCA and BPh cases using a graphite furnace Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer and compared with those in a control group living in the similar socioeconomic environment. Results BPb was significantly higher in PCA and BPh cases than in normals (Ph cases when compared with controls (Phe three groups, a statistically significant positive correlation between lead and thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TEARS) measured as malondialdehyde, and negative correlation between blood lead and antioxidant GSh level, indicative of possible generation of reactive oxygen species, were also observed after adjusting for age as a possible confounders. however, positive association between blood lead and TEARS was relatively higher in PCA patients (r=0.77, Phan in BPh (r=0.32, Phese results with limited power seem to suggest for the first time that environmental exposure of aging males to lead may be a risk factor for prostate cancer and/or benign prostate hyperplasia possibly through generation of reactive oxygen species and/or reducing the level of zinc which acts as a cellular growth protector.

One of the most pressing concerns for the consumer market is the detection of adulteration in meat products due to their *** rapid and accurate identification mechanism for lard adulteration in meat products is highly necessary,for developing a mechanism trusted by consumers and that can be used to make a definitive *** Transform Infrared Spectroscopy(FTIR)is used in this work to identify lard adulteration in cow,lamb,and chicken samples.A simplified extraction method was implied to obtain the lipids from pure and adulterated *** samples were obtained by mixing lard with chicken,lamb,and beef with different concentrations(10%–50%v/v).Principal component analysis(PCA)and partial least square(PLS)were used to develop a calibration model at 800–3500 cm^(−1).Three-dimension PCA was successfully used by dividing the spectrum in three regions to classify lard meat adulteration in chicken,lamb,and beef *** corresponding FTIR peaks for the lard have been observed at 1159.6,1743.4,2853.1,and 2922.5 cm−1,which differentiate chicken,lamb,and beef *** wavenumbers offer the highest determination coefficient R2 value of 0.846 and lowest root mean square error of calibration(RMSEC)and root mean square error prediction(RMSEP)with an accuracy of 84.6%.Even the tiniest fat adulteration up to 10%can be reliably discovered using this methodology.

This study describes the consequences of the ciliary motion on the transport of seminal liquid through the ductus efferentes of the male reproductive tract. By assuming the seminal liquid as a couple stress fluid, we have formulated a mathematical model for a two-dimensional flow through an axially symmetric tube whose inner surface is ciliated in the form of a metachronal wave. The governing system consists of nonlinear coupled partial differential equations which is reduced to a system of ordinary differential equa- tions by utilizing the long wavelength approximation in an environment of the inertia free flow. Exact solutions for the velocity distribution, the pressure gradient and the stream function are obtained in terms of the couple stress parameters and the ciliary metachronism. Special attention is given to the pumping and the trapping characteristics due to the cilia motility. The study reveals that the ciliary pumping has to be more efficient to transport a couple stress fluid as compared to a Newtonian fluid. Moreover, the theoretical results for the couple stress fluid are found to be in good agreement with those reported by IT. J. Laxdner and W. J. Shack, Cilia transport, Bull. Math, Biophys, 34 （1972） 325-335]. The analytical results are also displayed in graphical form.

There has been lots of interest in exploring the thermodynamic properties at the horizon of a black hole *** has been shown earlier that for different spacetimes,the Einstein field equations at the horizon can be expressed as the first law of black hole *** the idea of foliation,we develop a simpler procedure toobtain such *** considerγ=constant slices,for the Schwarzschild and Reissner-Nordstrom black hole *** Einstein field equations for the induced 3-dimensional metrics of the hypersurfaces are expressed in thermodynamic quantities under the virtual displacements of the *** expected,it is found that the field equations of the induced metric corresponding to the horizon can be written as afirst law of black hole *** is to be mentioned here that our procedure is much easier,to obtain such results,as here one has to essentially deal with(n-1)-dimensional induced metric for an n-dimensional spacetime.

Effect of Cu/Zn Substitution in MgO Nanostructures for Tuning the Optical Bandgap and Structural Properties

Low cost co-precipitation method was used to synthesize Cu(0-0.05)doped MgO samples with fixed concertation of Zn=0.01.X-ray diffraction(XRD)spectra confirmed the phase purity of the samples for 0≤Cu≤0.03 doping *** secondary phase for 0.04≤Cu≤0.05 exhibited the formation of mixed metal *** crystallite size was found to increase from 17.5 to 23.5 nm for 0≤Cu≤0.03 and then decreased from 22 to 18.5 nm for 0.04≤Cu≤*** estimated bandgap first reduced from 5.48 to 4.88 eV and then increased from 5.21 to 5.36 *** morphology of the samples transformed from spheroidal shape to star-like *** obtained results reveal that the structural and optical property are in good agreement with the morphological *** peak shifting towards the lower values of vibrational frequency from 694 to 579 cm^(-1) confirms the incorporation of Cu/Zn in Mg-O *** tuning of optical bandgap and structural properties with varying dopant concentration in MgO nanomaterials can be used for multifunctional modern energy storage and optoelectronic devices.

Objective:To analyze the effect of selected plant product against several bacterial which commonly causes oral *** was hope that in future,this product will become the remedy for treatment of oral infection and with the hope that it can substitute ***:A total of 5 species of oral bacteria from American Type Culture Collection(ATCC) were employed in this study(***,***,***,*** and *** ).Three types of natural plants crude extracts were used(garlic,curry leaves and cloves).Bactericidal and bacteriostatic effects of these herbs were ***:It was shown garlic had antibacterial effects on all *** Minimal Inhibitory Concentration(MIC in g/mL) of garlic towards S. aureus,***,***,*** and *** were 0.3,1.8,1.2,0.5 and 1.8,respectively. There was significant difference among the MIC of garlic on tested *** was more potent toward ***. The curry leaf solution on the other hand,did not show any zone of inhibition in all bacteria plates but adversely showed enhanced growth of those *** had shown its antibacterial effects on *** and *** clove was more potent toward *** with the MIC of 0.45 g/*** was more sensitive to clove compared to *** ***,it was more sensitive to garlic compared to clove. Conclusion:The antibacterial activity of garlic and clove crude extracts shown in our study further confirm these natural plants’potential usage in therapeutic use for oral diseases or *** could be the platform for the interested party to do research and development on it and to produce oral health products which are more affordable for lower economic income groups and with fewer side effects as seen in synthetic drug.
