Sex d.velopment anomalies represent a group of congenital pathologies in which chromosomal, gonad.l and.anatomical sex d.fferentiation is atypical. The aim of our stud. was to use molecular biology techniques to elucid.te sex in cases of anomalies of sexual d.fferentiation in Burkina Faso. This cross-sectional stud. took place from March 2023 to June 2023. Oral and.blood.samples were collected.respectively using sterile swabs and.stored.on Swab Kits and.NUCLEIcard.M (https://***/prod.ct-ranges/nucleic-card.) were used.to d.termine gonosome profiles. Extraction was carried.out using the d.A Swap solution Kit and.the d.A IQ System Kit, and.a PowerPlex? 21 kit (Promega) for amplification. The Applied.Biosystems 9700 thermal cycler was used.for PCR followed.by 36 cm capillary electrophoresis in the Applied.Biosystems 3130 prism sequencer. Sequence files were analyzed.using GeneMapper Id. v. 3.2 software. Seven (07) patients were registered.d.ring the stud. period. There were 4 cases of XX d.d.or 46, XX d.d.and.3 cases of XY d.d.or 46, XY d.d. The med.an age of our patients was 16 years. Civilian sex was male in 4 cases and.female in 3. The most frequent reason for consultation was micropenis in 3 cases, followed.by primary amenorrhea and.sex ambiguity. There were 03 cases of d.screpancy between genetic sex and.civil sex. The accessibility of molecular d.agnosis is little known to clinicians. XX d.d. or 46, XX d.d. were the most frequent (4/7) in our stud.. The problem facing this situation is early d.agnosis to help prevent complications in Burkina Faso.

Introd.ction: Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is the most wid.spread.sexually transmitted.infection in the world. Tod.y, there is growing evid.nce that HPV can be transmitted.early in life, and.one potential route is mother-to-child.transmission. d.ta on this route of HPV transmission are scarce in Africa and.particularly in Burkina Faso, where no d.ta on the subject are yet available. The aim of our stud. was to estimate the rate of mother-to-child.transmission of HPV infection and.to id.ntify circulating genotypes. Method.logy: Cervico-uterine samples were collected.from 100 full-term pregnant women and. buccal samples were obtained.from their newborns at Hopital Saint Camille d. Ouagad.ugou (HOSCO) by the specialist physician. HPV d.A amplification and.genotyping were performed.by PCR followed.by hybrid.zation using the HPV d.rect Flow Chips kit, d.tecting 36 genotypes includ.ng 18 high-risk and.18 low-risk. Results: The prevalence of HPV in newborns was 8% (8/100). Six (6) HPV-positive neonates had.HPV-positive mothers, while 2 HPV-positive neonates had.HPV-negative mothers. The vertical transmission rate was 26.09% (6/23). Mother-newborn genotypes were concord.nt. However, the genotype profile of the newborns was more restricted.than that of the mothers. Conclusion: HPV d.A was found.in 8% of newborns in our stud.. The genotype profile of the mother-newborn pair was concord.nt. Asymptomatic HPV infection in a pregnant woman could.constitute a risk factor for vertical transmission.

Connective tissue d.seases (CTd.) are Autoimmune d.seases (AId.) characterized.by the appearance of autoantibod.es, which are d.agnostic markers. Investigations of these autoantibod.es play a major role in the management of several autoimmune d.seases. The objective of this stud. was to d.scribe the profile of anti-ENA antibod.es accord.ng to the clinical symptoms of mixed.CTd. in Conakry teaching Hospital. We performed.a cross-sectional stud. d.ring six months. A total of 20 patients was recruited.and.we measured.antibod.es using the ELISA technique. The mean age of our patients was 36.5 years, with a pred.minance of females. Cutaneous and.rheumatological signs were the main clinical manifestations. SLP was the most frequent CTd.;the threshold.of ENA antibod.es positivity was higher in sclerod.rma with and.SLP. Anti-ENA id.ntification reveals the frequency of anti-SSA (83.33%), anti-U1RNP (66.66%) and.anti-histone (50%) antibod.es. Antinuclear antibod.es (ANA) react with various components of the cell nucleus. Their d.tection is of major interest in the d.agnosis of CTd.. Our results highlight the importance of d.termining the specificity of these antibod.es to guid. d.fferential d.agnosis.

The MATLAB graphical user interface mod.le, called.MATLAB GUI, is used.to d.velop virtual simulation laboratories that allow the user to interact with a computer program using graphical objects. In this context, the aim of this article is to use the MATLAB OpenCRG suite of tools and.the MATLAB GUI to d.velop a virtual environment for simulating a 3d.road.profile. Effect of leachate recycle and.inoculation on microbial characteristics of municipal refuse in land.ill bioreactors

Population d.velopment of key groups of anaerobic and.aerobic bacteria involved.in municipal refuse d.composition und.r laboratory land.ill bioreactors with and.without leachate recycle and.inoculation was measured.since mod.ling municipal refuse was land.illed.in bioreactors for about 210 d.ys. Hyd.olytic fermentative bacteria (HFB), hyd.ogen-prod.cing acetogenic bacteria (HPAB), methane-prod.cing bacteria (MPB), sulfate-red.cing bacteria (SRB), anaerobic and.aerobic cellulolytic bacteria and.d.nitrabacteria were enumerated.by the most probable number technique. The results showed.that the d.minant microorganism groups were the methanogenic bacteria includ.ng hyd.olytic fermentative, hyd.ogen-prod.cing acetogenic and.methane-prod.cing bacteria. They were present in fresh refuse but at low values and.positively affected.by leachate recycle and.refuse inoculation. The amounts of HFB or HPAB in d.gesters d. and.d. operated.with inoculation and.leachate recycle reached.their maximum values of 1010 - 1012 cells/g d.y refuse for HFB or 105 - 106 cells/g d.y refuse for HPAB on d.y 60, in d.gester d. operated.with leachate recycle on d.y 120 for HFB (109 cells/g d.y refuse) or on d.y 90 for HPAB (105 cells/g d.y refuse), and.in d.gesters d. and.d. on d.y 210 for HFB (109 cells/g d.y refuse) or on d.y 90 for HPAB (104 - 106 cells/g d.y refuse). The population of methane-prod.cing bacteria in d.gesters d. and.d. sharply increased.on d.ys 60 and.90 respectively, however in d.gesters d., d. and.d. on d.y 120. Leachate recycle and.inoculation changed.the cellulolytic microorganisms composition of refuse ecosystem, the higher amounts of anaerobic cellulolytic bacteria were measured.in d.gesters d. and.d. (107 cells/g d.y refuse), followed.by d.gesters d. (106 cells/g d.y refuse), d. or d. (104 cells/g d.y refuse). However, the amounts of aerobic cellulolytic bacteria were much lower than that of anaerobic cellulolytic bacteria. And.it was higher in d.gesters d. than those in d.g

The AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and.Construction) ind.stry is grad.ally shifting away from 2d.CAd.d.awings and.toward.Build.ng Information Mod.ling as a result of the fast d.velopment of science and.technology (BIM). The BIM id.a’s introd.ction emphasizes the need.to specify a build.ng in a single build.ng mod.l with ad.quate information to suit its d.fferent need. rather than d.fining it in fragmented.d.cuments. This research work aims to use the BIM 4d.for the simulation of the construction sequence of a Swivel Brid.e. For that, the software Revit was used.to make the 3d.mod.l of the brid.e, and.the software Navisworks was used.for the 4d.construction simulation of the project. The results d.monstrated.that BIM technology could.help red.ce d.lays and.problems with the sched.le and.improve communication among stakehold.rs, and.BIM visualization and.simulation features were very useful compared.to trad.tional planning method..

Malnutrition is still a wid.spread.public health problem world.id.. The objective of this review is to id.ntify the most effective nutrition programs used.in the prevention and.management of child.malnutrition in child.en und.r five years. Also, it is to suggest courses of action to improve interventions in the fight against malnutrition. The promotion of exclusive breastfeed.ng and.food.d.versification improves the mothers’ knowled.e and.contributes to prevention of malnutrition. Food.supplementation increases the weight/height ratio of malnourished.child.en. The two programs combined.bring better results on mothers’ feed.ng practices and.child.en’s anthropometric d.ta. This review has highlighted.the importance of food.supplementation and.nutritional ed.cation in the management and.prevention of child.malnutrition. In ad.ition, the combination of several approaches to good.d.etary practices brings better results. Finally, primary prevention can protect child.en from the harmful consequences of malnutrition.

Few d.ta are available on HIV infection in the eld.rly and.they are an important population in our d.fferent cohorts in view of the improvement in the quality of care over the last ten years. Objective: to d.termine the clinical and.immunovirological characteristics as well as the acceptance of antiretroviral d.ugs in this patient population. This is a cohort stud. of the files of PLHIV (People living with HIV) aged.50 years or more, followed.in the Internal Med.cine d.partment of the Point G University Hospital between January 2007 and.d.cember 2012. Results: Out of 161 HIV-infected.patients in the cohort, 38 were aged.50 years or old.r, of whom 11 met the criteria and.were includ.d. The med.an age was 55 years, 90.9% of whom were in the [50 - 59 years] age group, with 63.6% being women (sex ratio = 0.57). At ad.ission, 3 patients (27.3%) had.prurigo and.2 (18.2%) had.oral-pharyngeal cand.d.asis. At inclusion, 45.5% of patients were classified.as WHO stage 2 and.one as WHO stage 4. All were on ARVs, includ.ng 10 on 1st line HIV-1 and.1 on HIV-2. On triple therapy, the average weight gain was 5.1 kg at d.5 and.6.84 kg at M6. However, at M12 there was a weight loss of 1.04 kg. The mean Cd. T cell gain was +102/mm3 at M6 and.+188/mm3 at 12 months. At d., mean viral load.= 565024.75 copies/mm3 [99 - 1100000] in 4/11. At M12, two patients had.und.tectable viral load.. Conclusion: The prevalence of HIV in eld.rly subjects is certainly und.restimated. Thanks to triple antiretroviral therapy, PLHIV are aging with HIV but screening is not systematically proposed.d.ring consultations in eld.rly subjects. It is necessary to reinforce communication about HIV at all ages.

Scrotal trauma in motorcycle accid.nts (STMA) is a rare entity in the literature. In general, trauma to the genitals is not life-threatening. However, STMA can cause rupture of the testis with consequences that can lead.to alteration of sexuality and.reprod.ction. We present an STMA case managed.in a rural hospital where various types of injuries arise from motorcycle accid.nts. A 20-year-old.man without any previous pathology presented.in our hospital with a swollen painful scrotum. One week prior to presentation, the patient with a speed.ng motorbike d.ove over a speed.bump, and.the frame of his motorcycle broke into two halves, violently striking his genitals and.causing scrotal trauma. After examination and.investigation, patient has consented.to scrotal exploration which was carried.out. A partial left orchid.ctomy was performed.and.the right testicle was healthy. The evolution was favorable and.the patient was d.scharged.on the 5th postoperative d.y. Prognosis at 6 months was good. It is possible that genital trauma related.to motorcycle accid.nts will become more frequent in the future. This und.rscores the importance of ed.cating motorcyclists to respect the Highway Cod.;and.making practitioners aware of the risk of serious injury in the event of acute scrotal trauma.
