Boosting thermal stability and crystallization of closed-loop-recyclable biodegradable poly(p-dioxanone) by end-group regulation

A chemically closed-loop-recyclable biodegradable polymer,poly(p-dioxanone)(PPDO),is one of the ideal candidates for single-use plastic products due to its suitability for different application ***,when PPDO wastes can be collected,its monomer p-dioxanone(PDO) will be obtained through chemical recycling of these wastes;when cannot be collected,the wastes are able to be biodegraded into harmless ***,unsatisfied thermal stability and low crystallization rate of PPDO restrict its wider ***,based on end-group regulation,we simultaneously realized the significant enhancement of thermal stability and crystallization of PPDO through the simple melt processing with tributyl phosphite(TBP) or triphenyl phosphite(TPP).The model reactions were conducted to investigate the reaction mechanism and theoretical products during the preparation of PPDO/phosphite *** kinds of phosphites were proved to act as the end-capped reagent and chain extender in the melt processing,while TBP presented better *** a result,the activation energy of thermal decomposition was largely elevated,and the unprecedented T_(5%)(the temperature at a weight loss of 5%) and Tmax(the temperature at a maximum rate of weight loss) of PPDO were obtained,i.e.,T_(5%)of ~330 ℃ and Tmaxof ~385 ℃ in N_(2) atmosphere,T_(5%)of ~240 ℃ and Tmaxof ~317 ℃ in air atmosphere,***,the increased crystallization rate,crystallinity,crystalline orderliness,and realizable monomer recovery(yield >90%,purity >99.9%) of PPDO/phosphite compounds were confirmed.

Ferroptosis contributes to JEV-induced neuronal damage and neuroinflammation

Ferroptosis is a newly discovered prototype of programmed cell death (PCD) driven by iron-dependent phospholipid peroxidation accumulation, and it has been linked to numerous organ injuries and degenerative pathologies. Although studies have shown that a variety of cell death processes contribute to JEV-induced neuroinflammation and neuronal injury, there is currently limited research on the specific involvement of ferroptosis. In this study, we explored the neuronal ferroptosis induced by JEV infection in vitro and in vivo. Our results indicated that JEV infection induces neuronal ferroptosis through inhibiting the function of the antioxidant system mediated by glutathione (GSH)/glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4), as well as by promoting lipid peroxidation mediated by yes-associated protein 1 (YAP1)/long-chain acyl-CoA synthetase 4 (ACSL4). Further analyses revealed that JEV E and prM proteins function as agonists, inducing ferroptosis. Moreover, we found that treatment with a ferroptosis inhibitor in JEV-infected mice reduces the viral titers and inflammation in the mouse brains, ultimately improving the survival rate of infected mice. In conclusion, our study unveils a critical role of ferroptosis in the pathogenesis of JEV, providing new ideas for the prevention and treatment of viral encephalitis.

Retinal angiogenesis is a critical process for normal retinal ***,uncontrolled angiogenesis can lead to pathological neovascularization(NV),which is closely related to most irreversible blindness-causing retinal *** the molecular basis behind pathological NV is important for the treatment of related ***-related protein 1(TWIST1)is a well-known transcription factor and principal inducer of epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT)in many human *** previous study showed that Twist1 expression is elevated in pathological retinal *** date,however,the role of TWIST1 in retinal pathological angiogenesis remains to be *** study the role of TWIST1 in pathological retinal NV and identify specific molecular targets for antagonizing pathological NV,we generated an inducible vascular endothelial cell(EC)-specific Twist1 transgenic mouse model(Tg-Twist1iEC+).Whole-mount retinas from Tg-Twist1iEC+mice showed retarded vascular progression and increased vascular density in the front end of the growing retinal vasculature,as well as aneurysm-like pathological retinal ***,overexpression of Twist1 in the ECs promoted cell proliferation but disturbed cell polarity,thus leading to uncontrolled retinal ***1 promoted pathological NV by activating the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway and inducing the expression of NV formation-related genes,thereby acting as a‘valve’in the regulation of pathological *** study identified the critical role of TWIST1 in retinal pathological NV,thus providing a potential therapeutic target for pathological NV.

Based on the long wave limit method,the general form of the second-order and third-order rogue wave solutions to the focusing nonlinear Schr?dinger equation are given by introducing some arbitrary *** interaction solutions between the first-order rogue wave and one-breather wave are constructed by taking a long wave limit on the two-breather *** applying the same method to the three-breather solutions,two types of interaction solutions are obtained,namely the first-order rogue wave and two breather waves,the second-order rogue wave and one-breather wave,*** influence of the parameters related to the phase on the interaction phenomena is graphically *** occur among the rogue waves and breather *** the collisions,the shape of them remains *** abundant interaction phenomena in this paper will contribute to a better understanding of the propagation and control of nonlinear waves.

Efficient Removal of Phosphate from Aqueous Solutions Using Corundum-hollow-spheres Supported Caclined Hydrotalcite Porous Thin Films

Phosphate was removed from aqueous environment by corundum-hollow-spheres supported caclined hydrotalcite (cHT) thin films. Mg-Al-CO3 hydrotalcite (HT) thin films were deposited on corundumhollow-sphere substrates by hydrothermal homogeneous precipitation at 120℃for 30-240 min and cHT thin films were obtained by annealing of the HT thin films at 500℃for 180 min. Their crystal phase, morphology and microstructure were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).The results show that homogeneous, well-crystallized and hierarchical flower-like thin films were deposited firmly on the surface of the corundum. The mechanism of nucleation and growth of the HT thin films was fitted well with the anion coordination polyhedron growth unit model. To determine the absorption of phosphate by this adsorbent, different bed depth (10-30 cm) and flow rate (1.0-3.0 m L/min) were examined by column experiments. The highest removal efficiency of phosphate amounted to 98.5%under optimum condition (pH=7.2). The adsorption capacity increased as the bed depth increased and decreased as the flow rate increased.

The Internet of Things(IoT)can realize the interconnection of people,machines,and things anytime,*** of the existing research mainly focuses on the practical applications of IoT,and there is a lack of research on modeling and reasoning about IoT systems from the perspective of formal ***,the Calculus of the Internet of Things(CaIT)has been proposed to specify and analyze IoT systems before the actual implementation,which can effectively improve development efficiency,and enhance system quality and *** verify the correctness of IoT systems described by CaIT,this paper presents a proof system for CaIT,in which specifications and verifications are based on the extended Hoare Logic with ***,we explore the cooperation between isolated proofs to validate the postconditions of the communication actions occurring in these proofs,with a particular focus on broadcast *** also demonstrate the soundness of our proof system.A simple“smart home”is given to illustrate the availability of our proof system.

Inhibition of EGFR attenuates EGF-induced activation of retinal pigment epithelium cell via EGFR/AKT signaling pathway

AIM:To explore the effect of epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR)inhibition by erlotinib and EGFR siRNA on epidermal growth factor(EGF)-induced activation of retinal pigment epithelium(RPE)***:Human RPE cell line(ARPE-19 cells)was activated by 100 ng/mL *** and EGFR siRNA were used to intervene EGF *** viability,proliferation,and migration were detected by methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium(MTT)assay,bromodeoxyuridine(BrdU)staining assay and wound healing assay,***/protein kinase B(AKT)pathway proteins and N-cadherin,α-smooth muscle actin(α-SMA),and vimentin were tested by Western blot *** was also determined by immunofluorescence ***:EGF treatment for 24h induced a significant increase of ARPE-19 cells’viability,proliferation and migration,phosphorylation of EGFR/AKT proteins,and decreased total EGFR *** suppressed ARPE-19 cells’viability,proliferation and migration through down regulating total EGFR and AKT protein *** also inhibited EGF-induced an increase of proliferative and migrative ability in ARPE-19 cells and clearly suppressed EGF-induced EGFR/AKT proteins phosphorylation and decreased expression of N-cadherin,α-SMA,and vimentin ***,EGFR inhibition by EGFR siRNA significantly affected EGF-induced an increase of cell proliferation,viability,and migration,phosphorylation of EGFR/AKT proteins,and up-regulation of N-cadherin,α-SMA,and vimentin ***:Erlotinib and EGFR-knockdown suppress EGF-induced cell viability,proliferation,and migration via EGFR/AKT pathway in RPE *** inhibition may be a possible therapeutic approach for proliferative vitreoretinopathy(PVR).

Application of a microscopic optical potential of chiral effective field theory in (p, d) transfer reactions

The microscopic global nucleon–nucleus optical model potential(OMP)proposed by Whitehead,Lim,and Holt,the WLH potential(Whitehead et al.,Phys Rev Lett 127:182502,2021),which was constructed in the framework of many-body per-turbation theory with state-of-the-art nuclear interactions from chiral effective field theory(EFT),was tested with(p,d)transfer reactions calculated using adiabatic wave *** target nuclei included both stable and unstable nuclei,and the incident energies reached 200 *** results were compared with experimental data and predictions using the phenomenological global optical potential of Koning and Delaroche,the KD02 ***,we found that the micro-scopic WLH potential described the(p,d)reaction angular distributions similarly to the phenomenological KD02 potential;however,the former was slightly better than the latter for radioactive *** average,the obtained spectroscopic factors(SFs)using both microscopic and phenomenological potentials were similar when the incident energies were below approxi-mately 120 ***,their difference tended to increase at higher incident energies,which was particularly apparent for the doubly magic target nucleus 40Ca.

Grapevine-like high entropy oxide composites boost high-performance lithium sulfur batteries as bifunctional interlayers

Lithium-sulfur batteries(LSBs)with high energy densities have been demonstrated the potential for energy-intensive demand ***,their commercial applicability is hampered by hysteretic electrode reaction kinetics and the shuttle effect of lithium polysulfides(LiPSs).In this work,an interlayer consisting of high-entropy metal oxide(Cu_(0.7)Fe_(0.6)Mn_(0.4)Ni_(0.6)Sn_(0.5))O_(4) grown on carbon nanofibers(HEO/CNFs)is designed for *** CNFs with highly porous networks provide transport pathways for Li^(+) and e^(-),as well as a physical sieve effect to limit LiPSs *** particular,the grapevine-like HEO nanoparticles generate metal-sulfur bonds with LiPSs,efficiently anchoring active *** unique structure and function of the interlayer enable the LSBs with superior electrochemical performance,i.e.,the high specific capacity of 1381 mAh g^(-1) at 0.1 C and 561 mAh g^(-1) at 6 *** work presents a facile strategy for exploiting high-performance LSBs.

Photodegradation of xylene isomers:Kinetics,mechanism,secondary pollutant formation potential and health risk evaluation

Photodegradation technology has been widely applied in the purification of industrial aromatic ***,whether this technology efficiently removes the pollutants to prevent secondary pollution and health risk is still ***,the photodegradation processes of three xylenes were compared under designed reaction atmospheres and light *** lamp showed poor photodegradation ability toward xylenes,no matter in N_(2) or N_(2)+O_(2)system,while much higher photodegradation performance of xylenes were obtained under ultraviolet(UV)and vacuum ultraviolet(VUV)irradiation,especially in N_(2)+O_(2)+VUV system,where 97.9%of m-xylene,99.0%of o-xylene or 87.5%of p-xylene with the initial concentration of 860 mg/m^(3) was removed within 240 *** xylenes underwent three processes of photo-isomerization,photodecomposition and photo-oxidation to produce intermediates of aromatics,alkanes and *** them,the photo-isomerization products showed the highest concentration percentage(e.g.,≥50%in o-xylene system),confirming that photo-isomerization reaction was the dominated photodegradation process of ***,these isomerized products not only contributed about 97%and91%to the formation potential of O3(OFP)and secondary organic aerosols(SOAFP),but also displayed obvious non-carcinogenic risk,although one of photodecomposition product—benzene showed the highest occupational exposure ***,the secondary pollution and health risks of photodegradation products of xylenes were non-ignorable,although the OFP,SOAFP and health risks of the generated products reduced at least 4.5 times in comparison with that of the degraded *** findings are helpful for the appropriate application of this technology in the purification of industrial organic waste gas.
