Separation of alumina and silica from metakaolinite by reduction roasting-alkaline leaching process: Effect of CaSO_(4) and CaO

Limestone(CaCO3),which could promote sulfur fixation,was added to coal gangue during roasting in a circulating fluidized bed(CFB)*** and CaSO_(4) were the main Ca-bearing minerals while metakaolinite was the major Al-bearing mineral in CFB *** effect of CaSO_(4) and CaO on the separation of alumina and silica from metakaolinite by reduction roasting−alkaline leaching process was *** showed that metakaolinite was completely converted into hercynite and silica solid solutions(i.e.,quartz and cristobalite solid solutions)by reduction roasting with *** than 95%of silica in the reduced specimen was removed by alkaline *** addition of CaSO_(4) and CaO remarkably decreased the separation efficiency of alumina and silica in metakaolinite,which could be attributed to the formation of si-bearing minerals:(1)Fayalite and anorthite were formed during the reduction roasting process;(2)Fayalite was stable while anorthite was converted into sodalite and wollastonite during the alkaline leaching *** study demonstrates that sulfur in coal gangue should be fixed by treating the exhaust gas instead of controlling the combustion process of CFB to achieve the comprehensive recovery of silica and alumina from the CFB slag.

Effectiveness of probiotics in irritable bowel syndrome: methodological quality of meta-analyses and systematic reviews

Objective: This study assessed the methodological quality of systematic reviews/meta-analysis of the effectiveness of probiotics against irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) using the accepted methodological quality assessment scale AMSTAR and explored the factors that influenced the quality of methodology. It was designed to provide a reference for future research and systematic reviews/metaanalysis. Methods: The methodological quality of existing systematic reviews/meta-analysis was evaluated using the AMSTAR scale. Influencing factors of methodological quality were statistically analyzed using RevMan 5.3 software. The included systematic reviews/metaanalysis must include the following characteristics:(1) methods using systematic evaluation/meta-analysis,(2) probiotic intervention, and (3) language limitation to Chinese and English. Results: The AMSTAR score was 5-9 (7.42 ± 1.22), and the quality is above average. The factors affecting the methodological quality are the number of authors and whether they cooperate with the institution. Conclusions: Studies have shown that current systematic reviews/meta-analysis of the effectiveness of probiotics on IBS does not fully comply with methodological quality standards, and therefore the methodological quality of research in this area needs to be strengthened. To better clarify how probiotics affect IBS, future systematic reviews and meta-analyses should not only follow methodological quality standards but also include more effective outcome measures, and they should focus more on the discussion of research results. We look forward to the development of higher-quality randomized controlled trials in the future.

The study of extreme weather and space events has gained paramount importance in modern society owing to rapid advances in high *** and describing exceptional occurrences plays a crucial role in making decisive assessments of their potential impact on technical,economic,and social aspects in various *** research focuses on analyzing the hourly values of the auroral electrojet(AE)geomagnetic index from 1957 to 2019 by using the peak over threshold method in extreme value *** fitting the generalized Pareto distribution to extreme AE values,shape parameter indices were derived,revealing negative values that establish an upper bound for this time ***,it became evident that the AE values had reached a plateau,suggesting that extreme events exceeding the established upper limit are *** a result,although the need for diligent precautions to mitigate the consequences of such extreme events persists,surpassing the upper limit of AE values becomes increasingly *** is also possible to observe an aurora in the middle-and low-latitude regions during the maximum period of the AE index.

This study explores the effects of dynamic and static loading on rock bolt performance a key factor in maintaining the structural safety of coal mine roadways susceptible to coal *** a housemade load frame to simulate various failure scenarios,pretension-impact-pull tests on rock bolts were conducted to scrutinize their dynamic responses under varied static load conditions and their failure traits under combined *** experimental results denote that with increased impact energy,maximum and average impact loads on rock bolts escalate significantly under pretension,initiating plastic deformation beyond a certain *** minor reductions in the yield load due to impactinduced damage,pretension aids in constraining post-impact deformation rate and fluctuation degree of rock ***,impact-induced plastic deformation causes internal microstructure dislocation,fortifying the stiffness of the rock bolt support *** magnitude of this fortification is directly related to the plastic deformation induced by the *** findings provide crucial guidance for designing rock bolt support in coal mine roadway excavation,emphasizing the necessity to consider both static and dynamic loads for improved safety and efficiency.

A styryl phosphonate ester(SPE) collector was used to improve the flotation performance of ilmenite, and the adsorption mechanism and model were revealed and established, respectively. Microflotation tests showed that SPE exhibited a stronger collecting ability for ilmenite than the traditional collector styrene phosphonic acid(SPA). Zeta potential measurements revealed that both SPE and SPA could negatively shift the zeta potential of ilmenite, while SPE had more effects than SPA, suggesting the stronger adsorption of SPE. The analysis of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy confirmed the chemisorption of SPA and SPE onto the Fe/Ti sites of ilmenite. According to frontier orbital theory, the chemical activities of SPE are greater than those of SPA. The partial densities of states analysis indicated that the PO—H groups of the collectors could interact with the Ti/Fe atoms of the ilmenite surface to generate a stable four-membered ring. The bonding model of the collector and(104) ilmenite surface showed that the adsorption energy of SPE was higher than that of SPA. Overall, SPE presented a better collecting ability and interaction effect for ilmenite flotation than SPA, and had the potential to replace SPA in the industry.

Aqueous zinc-ion batteries （ZIBs） have shown great potential in the fields of wearable devices,consumer electronics,and electric vehicles due to their high level of safety,low cost,and multiple electron transfer. The layered cathode materials of ZIBs hold a stable structure during charge and discharge reactions owing to the ultrafast and straightforward （de）intercalation-type storage mechanism of Zn2+ions in their tunable interlayer spacing and their abilities to accommodate other guest ions or ***,the challenges of inadequate energy density,dissolution of active materials,uncontrollable byproducts,increased internal pressure,and a large de-solvation penalty have been deemed an obstacle to the development of ZIBs. In this review,recent strategies on the structure regulation of layered materials for aqueous zinc-ion energy storage devices are systematically summarized. Finally,critical science challenges and future outlooks are proposed to guide and promote the development of advanced cathode materials for ZIBs.

To investigate the energy partition in laser-induced cavitation bubbles near the rigid wall with a gas-containing hole,we utilized a nanosecond resolution photography system based on a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser and conventional industrial camera to carefully observe the transient process of bubble collapse near the rigid wall with a gas-containing *** analyzed the generation of collapse microjets and the emission of collapse shock *** found that the cavitation bubble near the rigid wall with a gas-containing hole collapsed at different times and space,and produced various types of shock *** on the far field pressure information of the shock waves measured by hydrophone,the energy of the shock waves generated by the bubble collapse near the rigid wall with a gas-containing hole is calculated for the first *** results show that the ratio of collapse shock wave energy to bubble energy is approximately between 0.7 and 0.8.
