When an equiatomic multi-component alloy is quenched from its molten state down to room temperature,either a solid solution crystalline alloy or a metallic glass is *** former is called a high-entropy alloy,whereas the latter is referred as a high-entropy metallic glass(HE-MG).In such multicomponent alloys,thermodynamic parame-ters,e.g.,the mixing entropy,the mixing enthalpy and other parameters such as atomic size mismatch,determine the resulting phases.

The effects of casting currents on the thermophysical behaviors, atomic and nanoscale structure, and mechanical properties of two Zr-based-bulk metallic glasses, i.e., Zr59Cu33A18 and Zr59（Cuo.55Feo.45）33A18, were studied by using differential scanning calorimetry, wide-angle X-ray diffraction, and small-angle X-ray scattering, as well as compression tests. The casting currents can be tuned to change the casting initiative temperature. Results revealed that there is no anomalous structural change for the Zr59Cu33A18 molten liquid before crystallization during cooling with different casting currents. In contrast, liquid-state phase separation was suggested to occur in the Zr59（Cuo.55Feo.45）33A18 molten liquid prepared using lower casting current before crystallization during cooling. The position shift of the first sharp diffraction peak for the diffraction pattern of Zr59（Cuo.55Feo.45）33A18 shows that the density of the molten liquid may decrease upon cooling at different casting currents. The small-angle X-ray scattering results indicate that the heterogeneity of the Zr59（Cuo.55- ***）33A18 metallic glasses increases with decreasing the casting temperature. As a result, the metallic glasses with a liquid-state phase separation possess better mechanical properties, including higher-yielding stress and more significant compressive ductility. The increase in degree of heterogeneity formed by nanoscale liquid-state phase separation and their interactions with the shear bands for the Zr-Cu-Fe-Al bulk metallic glasses were suggested to be responsible for the enhanced mechanical properties.

AIM: To investigate the effects of single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) in glutathione S-transferase(GST) genes on survival of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) ***: Twelve tagging SNPs in GST genes(including GSTA1, GSTA4, GSTM2, GSTM3, GSTO1, GSTO2 and GSTP1) were genotyped using Sequenom Mass ARRAY i PLEX genotyping method in a cohort of 214 Chinese patients with resected *** Cox proportional hazards model and log-rank test were performed to determine the SNPs related to ***, stratified analysis was performed at each level of the demographic and clinical *** SNP-gene expression association model was further established to investigate the correlation between SNP and gene ***: Two SNPs(GSTO2 : rs7085725 and GSTP1 : rs4147581) were significantly associated with overall survival in HCC patients(P = 0.035 and 0.042, respectively).In stratified analysis, they were more significantly associated with overall survival in patients with younger age, male gender and *** further investigated cumulative effects of these two SNPs on overall survival in HCC *** with the patients carrying no unfavorable genotypes, those carrying 2 unfavorable genotypes had a 1.70-fold increased risk of death(P significant in those patients with younger age, male gender and cirrhosis(HR = 2.00, 1.94 and 1.97, respectively; all P significantly worse overall survival in those patients carrying variantalleles of rs7085725(HR = 2.07, 95%CI: 1.13-3.76, P = 0.018).The distributions of GSTO2 : rs7085725 and GSTP1 : rs4147581 genotypes were associated with altered gene expression and contributed to influences on overall ***: Our study provides the first evidence that GSTO2 and GSTP1 gene polymorphisms may serve as independent prognostic markers for HCC patients.

To the Editor: Pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer mortality in the United States [ 1, 2 ]. Risk factors of pancreatic cancer include smoking, family history of chronic pancreatitis, advanced age, male, diabetes mellitus, and obesity [1]. Most of patients have no obvious symptoms in the early stage, and are often diagnosed in the late stage and accompanied by invasion of surrounding tissues and distant metastasis, such as local lymph nodes, liver, lung and peritoneum [ 1, 3 ]. Therefore, the prognosis is poor.

Currently,simultaneous buffer and service rate allocation is a topic of interest in the optimization of manufacturing *** allocation problems have been solved previously to satisfy economic requirements;however,owing to the progress of green manufacturing,energy conservation and environmental protection have become increasingly ***,an energy-efficient approach is developed to maximize the throughput and minimize the energy consumption of manufacturing systems,subject to the total buffer capacity,total service rate,and predefined energy *** energy-efficient approach integrates the simulated annealing-non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm-II with the honey badger algorithm-histogram-based gradient boosting regression *** former algorithm searches for Pareto-optimal solutions of sufficient *** latter algorithm builds prediction models to rapidly calculate the throughput,energy consumption,and energy *** examples show that the proposed hybrid approach can achieve a better solution quality compared with previously reported ***,the prediction models can rapidly evaluate manufacturing systems with sufficient *** study benefits the multi-objective optimization of green manufacturing systems.
