Environmental impact of energy imports:Natural resources income and natural gas production profitability in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Countries

Environmental degradation is a pressing global concern,with the energy sector being one of the major contributors to this *** environmental impact of energy imports,particularly regarding natural resources income and natural gas production profitability,cannot be *** must assess the environmental consequences of their energy choices and take steps to minimize their *** transitioning to cleaner and more sustainable energy sources,countries can ensure a better future for the environment and their *** study examines the impact of energy imports and natural resources income on environmental degradation in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation(APEC)countries from 1990 to 2020,using revenue minus the production cost of natural gas and electricity production from renewable sources as moderating ***-run estimates are derived using the Generalized Method of Moments and robust least *** findings elucidate that importing energy from countries specializing in renewable energy can help reduce reliance on fossil *** diversification of energy sources decreases the overall carbon footprint and contributes to a cleaner *** gas production often involves infrastructure construction,such as drilling rigs and pipelines,which can disrupt natural habitats and wildlife *** destruction of ecosystems can have long-term consequences on biodiversity and ecological *** environmental impact of energy imports,particularly related to natural resource income and natural gas production profitability,requires BRICS countries to take proactive *** nations can address the environmental challenges associated with their energy demands by implementing policies prioritizing sustainable resource management,carbon pricing,stringent regulation,and investment in research and *** doing so,they can balance economic growth and environmental sustainability,ensuring a greener future for the BRICS

Laboratory evaluation of high-friction thin overlays for pavement preservation

Traditional asphalt concrete(AC)and stone matrix asphalt(SMA),which are used as thin asphalt overlays,are common maintenance strategies to enhancing ride quality,skid resistance,and ***,several studies have used a novel asphalt mixture known as a high-friction thin overlay(HFTO)to improve surface ***,it remains uncertain whether the laboratory properties of HFTO differ significantly from those of conventional *** study aims to evaluate the laboratory properties of HFTO mixtures and compare them with those of AC and *** mixtures with nominal maximum size of 9.5 mm were produced in the laboratory,and performance tests were conducted,including wheel tracking test,low temperature flexural creep test,moisture susceptibility test,Cantabro Abrasion Test,Marshall Test,sand patch test,British pendulum test,and indoor tire-rollingdown *** results showed that the HFTO exhibited a lower tire/pavement noise than the AC and ***,HFTO had superior high-temperature stability,larger macro texture,and higher skid resistance in comparison to those of AC,but lower than those of ***,HFTO mixtures may be considered a suitable replacement for traditional AC mixtures in regions where skid resistance and noise reduction are concerns.

This paper presents a superhydrophobic melamine(ME)sponge(ME-g-PLMA)prepared via high-energy radiation-induced in situ covalent grafting of long-alkyl-chain dodecyl methacrylate(LMA)onto an ME sponge for efficient oil–water *** obtained ME-g-PLMA sponge had an excellent pore structure with superhydrophobic(water contact angle of 154°)and superoleophilic *** can absorb various types of oils up to 66–168 times its *** ME-g-PLMA sponge can continuously separate oil slicks in water by connecting a pump or separating oil underwater with a gravity-driven *** addition,it maintained its highly hydrophobic properties even after long-term immersion in different corrosive solutions and repeated oil *** modified ME-g-PLMA sponge exhibited excellent separation properties and potential for oil spill cleanup.

Genomic analysis of Nypa fruticans elucidates its intertidal adaptations and early palm evolution

Aldehyde oxidase mediated enantioselective metabolic health risk of dinotefuran

Chiral pollutants often pose significant differential environmental health *** this study,the biotransformation of chiral dinotefuran(DIN)and its enantioselective metabolic toxicity mechanisms have been systemically ***,reversedphase chromatography-high resolution mass spectrometry was developed to quantify the content of DIN R/S chiral enantiomer with pg level sensitivity,revealing a lower elimination rate constant(K_(e))of S-DIN(0.730 h^(-1))than R-DIN(0.746 h^(-1)).Secondly,the interaction mechanism between DIN metabolism and important endogenous bioactive molecules,such as aldehyde oxidase(AOX)and neurotransmitters,was *** DIN nitro-group was converted into a guanidine group by the reducing site of nearby flavin adenine dinucleotide(FAD)in AOX with the preferred higher affinity of ***,the endogenous tryptophan(Trp)aldehyde metabolic intermediate,5-hydroxyindoleacetaldehyde(5-HIAL),provides a persistent electron donor for DIN reduction via the oxidation-catalyzed site in AOX,resulting in remarkable up-regulation of monoamine neurotransmitters such as serotonin and ***,the higher level of neurotransmitters further mediated dysregulation of oxylipin homeostasis via the serotonergic pathway,where S-DIN exhibited more pronounced liver lipid damage and environmental health risk with the accumulated lipid biomarkers,oxidized triglyceride(OxTG)and oxidized sphingomyelin(OxSM).This study elucidates the AOX-mediated enantioselectivity metabolic pathway of DIN,providing a new analytical method for chiral pollutants and paves the way for their health risk assessments.

Bifunctional electrolyte addition for longer life and higher capacity of aqueous zinc-ion hybrid supercapacitors

Owing to uncontrolled and uneven electrodeposition and side reactions,Zn metal anodes inevitably suffer from issues such as dendrite growth,hydrogen evolution reactions,and surface *** paper proposes an efficient strategy to address these critical issues for realizing long-life and high-capacity aqueous zinc-ion hybrid supercapacitors （ZHSCs） by incorporating low-concentration (0.05 mol·L-1) redox RbI electrolyte ***,rubidium cations have the ability to influence the negative Zn electrode surface via an electrostatic shielding mechanism,effectively protecting the electrode and minimizing undesired side *** an aqueous solution,iodide anions actively solvate Zn2+ions by stabilizing and modulating the solvation shell surrounding Zn2+.Moreover,the presence of iodide ions promotes the uniform deposition of Zn2+species by selective adsorption onto the electrode *** synergistic effect of the electrostatic shielding and halogen ions enables the realization of aqueous symmetric Zn||Zn cells with a substantial cycle life of more than 2000 h Additionally,when applied to commercial activated carbon（AC）,the proposed strategy facilitates the development of aqueous ZHSCs,exhibiting high specific capacitances(148.8 F·g-1at 4 A·g-1) and ultra-long cycling stability.

Objective This study aimed to clarify the intervention effect of salidroside(SAL)on lung injury caused by PM_(2.5) in mice and illuminate the function of siRT1-PGC-1ɑ*** Specific pathogen-free(SPF)grade male C57BL/6 mice were randomly assigned to the following groups:control group,SAL group,PM_(2.5) group,SAL+PM_(2.5) *** the first day,SAL was given by gavage,and on the second day,PM_(2.5) suspension was given by intratracheal *** whole experiment consist of a total of 10 cycles,lasting 20 *** the end of treatment,blood samples and lung tissues were collected and *** of pathological changes in lung tissue using inverted microscopy and transmission electron *** expression of inflammatory,antioxidants,apoptosis,and siRT1-PGC-1ɑproteins were detected by Western *** Exposure to PM_(2.5) leads to obvious morphological and pathologica changes in the lung of ***_(2.5) caused a decline in levels of antioxidant-related enzymes and protein expressions of HO-1,Nrf2,SOD2,siRT1 and PGC-1ɑ,and an increase in the protein expressions of IL-6,IL-1β,Bax,caspase-9 and cleaved ***,SAL reversed the aforementioned changes caused by PM_(2.5) by activating the siRT1-PGC-1α *** SAL can activate siRT1-PGC-1ɑ to ameliorate PM2.5-induced lung injury.
