single crystal LiNi_(0.6)Co_(0.2)Mn_(0.2)O_(2)is currently widely used due to the outstanding cycle stability and safety.However,its sensitivity to the environment and the high residual alkali makes the electrochemical performance and processing property severely degraded after long-term storage,especially for the Ni-rich single crystal material.Therefore,it is highly urgent to develop a cost-effective strategy for the revival of degraded Ni-rich cathode materials.Here,a low-carbon strategy is proposed to revive the degraded single crystal LiNi_(0.6)Co_(0.2)Mn_(0.2)O_(2)(SCNCM622)through water washing.The solid-liquid reaction mechanism of SCNCM622 and water was revealed and the strong dependence of the recovery effect on the washing time was clarified.Under optimized conditions,the sample with a washing time of 24 h shows 31.2%reduction in viscosity,18.4%improvement in discharge capacity,15.3%enhancement in cycle life,and excellent rate performance compared to the blank sample.Therefore,this strategy can achieve higher utilization of single crystal Ni-based cathode materials with a lower cost.

Thermal conductive proppant with self-suspension ability

The in situ mining technology is applied to the exploitation of medium-and low-maturity shale oil,which can use heaters to warm up the oil shale formations and pyrolyze the kerogen.Due to the low thermal conductivity of oil shale,electric heaters need extra equipment to improve heat transfer efficiency.In this study,a thermally conductive proppant is fabricated by coating epoxy-resin and graphite on ceramic proppants for the first time,which could support the fracturing crack and transfer heat.The thermal conduction property of epoxy-resin and graphite coated proppants(EGPs)is 245%higher than that of uncoated proppants,which can transfer more heat to the oil shale formation and accelerate the conversion of kerogen.The adhesive property of EGPs is improved by 47.9%under the load force of 1500 nN,which prolongs the time for the fracture to close.In summary,this novel proppant is expected to assist in-situ mining technology in the production of medium and low-maturity shale oil.

Overexpression of vascular endothelial growth factor enhances the neuroprotective effects of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell transplantation in ischemic stroke

Although bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs)might have therapeutic potency in ischemic stroke,the benefits are limited.The current study investigated the effects of BMSCs engineered to overexpress vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)on behavioral defects in a rat model of transient cerebral ischemia,which was induced by middle cerebral artery occlusion.VEGF-BMSCs or control grafts were injected into the left striatum of the infarcted hemisphere 24 hours after stroke.We found that compared with the stroke-only group and the vehicle-and BMSCs-control groups,the VEGF-BMSCs treated animals displayed the largest benefits,as evidenced by attenuated behavioral defects and smaller infarct volume 7 days after stroke.Additionally,VEGF-BMSCs greatly inhibited destruction of the blood-brain barrier,increased the regeneration of blood vessels in the region of ischemic penumbra,and reducedneuronal degeneration surrounding the infarct core.Further mechanistic studies showed that among all transplant groups,VEGF-BMSCs transplantation induced the highest level of brain-derived neurotrophic factor.These results suggest that BMSCs transplantation with vascular endothelial growth factor has the potential to treat ischemic stroke with better results than are currently available.

The development of implantable bioelectronics is driven by emerging applications including continuous health monitoring and human-machine interfacing.The mechanical mismatch between implanted bioelectronics and tissues not only compromises device accuracy,but also causes interference with tissues undesirably.To address this issue,it is necessary to develop ultrasoft and biocompatible fiber strain sensor with proper stretchability and sensitivity.Here,we fabricate a bacterial cellulose-based sensing fiber which possesses the stretchability and elastic modulus(~102 kPa)close to those of soft tissues.In addition,such fiber has high sensitivity to tiny tensile force/strain(8.8×10^(−3)N/2.5%)and low cell cytotoxicity.These excellent properties make the bacterial cellulose(BC)-based sensing fiber an excellent candidate of implantable bioelectric devices for monitoring subtle motions of organs.We demonstrate this by applying it for continuous monitoring of human pulse and bullfrog heartbeats.The(BC/oxBC)@PANI(ox=oxidized and PANI=polyaniline)fibers can further be woven into an array sensor and serve more complex sensing functions,such as multipoint force perception and shape recognition as demonstrated.

Protocol of Jidong Women Health Cohort Study: Rationale, Design, and Baseline Characteristics

Objective The Jidong Women Health Cohort Study is a prospective cohort study on female-specific characteristics and risks of chronic diseases in Chinese women and focuses on the potential association between menopause and risks of cardiovascular disease(CVD). Methods The study includes 4,179 female participants with an age of older than 18 years from Caofeidian district, Tangshan city, northern China. Baseline information on female-specific characteristics and potential cardiovascular risk factors was collected and all the participants underwent a physical examination with blood samples collected in 2013. To establish a better risk assessment tool of female CVD, updated information from questionnaire investigation, physical examinations and occurrence of outcome events will be collected through a longitudinal follow-up annually up to the year 2024. Results At baseline, Mean age of the participants was 42.3 ± 12.8 years. Reproduction occurred in 2,948 participants(70.5%), menopausal transition in 173(4.3%), and postmenopause in 1,058(25.3%). The incidence of arterial hypertension, dyslipidemia, and diabetes showed significant difference across different groups stratified by Stage of Reproductive Aging Workshop(STRAW) system(P sion The Jidong Women Health Cohort Study will contribute to the scientific evidence on association between female-specific characteristics and cardiovascular risks, and will also be helpful to provide a new path for early detection and prevention of CVD.

silver particle interlayer with high dislocation density for improving the joining of BaZr_(0.1)Ce_(0.7)Y_(0.1)Yb_(0.1)O_(3-δ) electrolyte and AIsi 441 interconnect

One of the critical challenges for the protonic ceramic fuel cell stack is sealing electrolytes and interconnects.However,the traditional AgeCuO sealant will aggravate the oxidation along the interconnect surface and result in brittle compound layers at the BaZr_(0.1)Ce_(0.7)Y_(0.1)Yb_(0.1)O_(3-δ)(BZCYYb)electrolyte interface.The present work demonstrates that a silver particle interlayer with high dislocation density can be adopted to join BZCYYb electrolyte to the interconnect(AIsi 441 stainless)in air instead of traditional AgeCuO sealant.Elevating temperatures result in a sufficient bonding at the Ag/BZCYYb interface,and a defect-free joint is obtained at 950℃.Atomic bonding at Ag/BZCYYb interface is confirmed by TEM.Also,a dense and thin oxide layer(2-3 μm)is formed along the AIsi 441 interface.Ag particles in the interlayer provide the main driving force for the sintering joining.The massive dislocations promote the recovery and recrystallization of the Ag interlayer,as well as the interdiffusion of BZCYYb/Ag.After aging in the wet oxidizing atmosphere at 600℃ for 300 h,joints remain intact and dense,indicating superior oxidation resistance and aging performance.Besides,the joint shear strength(25.3 MPa)is 59%higher than that of the joint brazed by traditional AgeCuO.

Service Function Chain in Small Satellite-Based Software Defined Satellite Networks

Software Defined Satellite Networks(SDSN) are proposed to solve the problems in traditional satellite networks, such as time-consuming configuration and inflexible traffic scheduling. The emerging application of small satellite and research of SDSN make it possible for satellite networks to provide flexible network services. Service Function Chain(SFC) can satisfy this need. In this paper, we are motivated to investigate applying SFC in the small satellite-based SDSN for service delivery. We introduce the structure of the multi-layer constellation-based SDSN. Then, we describe two deployment patterns of SFC in SDSN, the Multi-Domain(MD) pattern and the Satellite Formation(SF) pattern. We propose two algorithms, SFP-MD, and SFP-SF, to calculate the Service Function Path(SFP). We implement the algorithms and conduct contrast experiments in our prototype. Finally, we summarize the applicable conditions of two deployment patterns according to the experimental results in terms of hops, delay, and packet loss rate.

Prognostic factors influencing outcome in adult liver transplantation using hypernatremic organ donation after brain death

Background:Hypernatremic donors was regarded as the expanded criteria donors in liver transplantation.The study was to investigate the effects of donor hypernatremia on the outcomes of liver transplantation and identify the prognostic factors possibly contributing to the poor outcomes.Methods:Donor serum sodium levels before procurement were categorized as normal sodium(sion wassignificant differences in the 1-year survival rates of grafts and recipients,1-year graft loss rates and early events among the normal,moderate high and severe high sodium groups.However,the overall survival rates of grafts and recipients in subgroup A were significantly higher than those in subgroup B.Cox model showed that the exposure time(HR=1.117;95%CI:1.053–1.186;Psions:The level of donor sodium immediately before organ procurement does not have negative effects on the early outcomes following adult liver transplantation.For hypernatremia liver donors,minimization of the exposure time from hypernatremia to reperfusion is critical to prevent graft loss.

Risk factors and machine learning prediction models for bronchopulmonary dysplasia severity in the Chinese population

Background Bronchopulmonary dysplasia(BPD)is a common chronic lung disease in extremely preterm neonates.The outcome and clinical burden vary dramatically according to severity.Although some prediction tools for BPD exist,they seldom pay attention to disease severity and are based on populations in developed countries.This study aimed to develop machine learning prediction models for BPD severity based on selected clinical factors in a Chinese population.Methods In this retrospective,single-center study,we included patients with a gestational agesive care unit from 2016 to 2020.We collected their clinical information during the maternal,birth and early postnatal periods.Risk factors were selected through univariable and ordinal logistic regression analyses.Prediction models based on logistic regression(LR),gradient boosting decision tree,XGBoost(XGB)and random forest(RF)models were implemented and assessed by the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC).Results We ultimately included 471 patients(279 mild,147 moderate,and 45 severe cases).On ordinal logistic regression,gestational diabetes mellitus,initial fraction of inspiration O_(2) value,invasive ventilation,acidosis,hypochloremia,C-reactive protein level,patent ductus arteriosus and Gram-negative respiratory culture were independent risk factors for BPD severity.All the XGB,LR and RF models(AUC=0.85,0.86 and 0.84,respectively)all had good performance.Conclusions We found risk factors for BPD severity in our population and developed machine learning models based on them.The models have good performance and can be used to aid in predicting BPD severity in the Chinese population.

Wernicke encephalopathy in a patient after liver transplantation: A case report

Wernicke encephalopathy(WE) is an acute neurological disorder resulting from vitamin B1 deficiency, which is common in chronic alcoholism and is rare in acute liver failure. So far, there are 2 cases of WE reported after liver transplantation. Here, we report a case of a 45-year-old nonalcoholic male patient who developed psychiatric and neurological disturbance 15 d after receiving orthotopic liver transplantation because of hepatitis B-related cirrhosis and portal hypertension. Brain magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) showed symmetric high-signal intensities in the periaqueductal area. The patient was diagnosed with WE and given intravenous high-dose vitamin B1 immediately. His neurological disturbance resolved in 7 d after receiving the vitamin B1. Brain MRI after 5 mo showed nearly complete recovery. Most WE cases may be misdiagnosed in patients after liver transplantation, and we should pay more attention to its onset.
