Relationship between diversion colitis and quality of life in rectal cancer

AIM:To investigated the incidence of diversion colitis(DC) and impact of DC symptoms on quality of life(QoL) after ileostomy reversal in rectal ***:We performed a prospective study with 30 patients who underwent low anterior resection and the creation of a temporary ileostomy for the rectal cancer between January 2008 and July 2009 at the Department of Surgery,Korea University Anam *** participants totally underwent two rounds of the *** first examination,endoscopies,tissue biopsies,and questionnaire survey about the symptom were performed 3-4 mo after the ileostomy *** second examination,endoscopies,tissue biopsies,and questionnaire survey about the symptom and QoL were performed 5-6 mo after the ileostomy *** data were based on the histopathological reports and clinical records of the ***:At the first examination,all of the patients presented with inflammation,which was mild in 15(50%) patients,moderate in 11(36.7%) and severe in 4(13.3%) by endoscopy and mild in 14(46.7%) and moderate in 16(53.3%) by *** the second examination,only 11(36.7%) and 17(56.7%) patients had mild inflammation by endoscopy and histology,*** was no significant difference in DC grade between the endoscopic and the histological findings at first or second *** symptoms detected on the first and second questionnaires were mucous discharge in 12(40%) and 5(17%) patients,bloody discharge in 5(17%) and 3(10%) patients,abdominal pain in 4(13%) and 2(7%) patients and tenesmus in 9(30%) and 5(17%) patients,*** found no correlation between the endoscopic or histological findings and the symptoms such as mucous discharge,bleeding,abdominal pain and tenesmus in both time *** was detected in 9 patients at the second examination;this number correlated with the severity of DC(0%,0%,66.7%,33.3% vs 0%,71.4%,23.8%,4.8%,P = 0.001) and the symptom-related QoL(r =-0.791,P

Effects of Ag Seed on Synthesis of FeCo Nano-Particles Prepared via the Polyol Method

Nano-particles have several interesting properties which are not shown in bulk materials because of their high ratio of surface area to volume. FeCo alloy nano-particles with soft magnetic properties are demanded for various applications such as optics, eletronics and magnetics. Through the polyol method, highly purified particles with mono-dispersibility in various sizes can be produced and used as high-tech functional materials. In this study, the magnetic characteristics of FeCo alloy with Ag seed added in the production process of mono-dispersed nano-particles through the polyol method were investigated.

[目的/意义]完善科学数据伦理治理有助于规范科学数据收集、共享和使用,发挥数据作为科研的关键资源与要素的功能,优化科学数据管理服务。[方法/过程]本研究基于扎根理论分析英国科学数据伦理政策,总结其政策框架与内容,并通过矩阵编码与社会网络分析方法揭示治理特征,提出我国优化科学数据伦理治理的建议。[结果/结论]研究发现,伦理政策框架包括治理环境、主体与策略3层面。伦理治理环境内容分为适用领域、适用主体、概念定义、问题分析与现有政策;伦理治理主体内容涉及治理主体界定与促进主体协作;伦理治理策略内容涵盖治理指导与各阶段治理措施。其治理特征有3维度:注重定义概念,明确分配主体权责与促进协作,全面厘定治理策略与加强伦理风险防控。据此提出4条治理路径:形成治理体系,规范治理理论,明确各方权责与协作方式,细化各阶段治理措施。

Toward neglligible memories based heterostructures charge loss in on vertically charge injection integrated 2D

Two-dimensional （2D） crystals have a multitude of forms, including semi-metals, semiconductors, and insulators, which are ideal for assembling isolated 2D atomic materials to create van der Waals （vdW） heterostructures. Recently, artificially-stacked materials have been considered promising candidates for nanoelectronic and optoelectronic applications. In this study, we report the vertical integration of layered structures for the fabrication of prototype non-volatile memory devices. A semiconducting-tungsten-disulfide-channel-based memory device is created by sandwiching high-density-of-states multi-layered graphene as a carrier-confining layer between tunnel barriers of hexagonal boron nitride （hBN） and silicon dioxide. The results reveal that a memory window of up to 20 V is opened, leading to a high current ratio （〉103） between programming and erasing states. The proposed design combination produced layered materials that allow devices to attain perfect retention at 13% charge loss after 10 years, offering new possibilities for the integration of transparent, flexible electronic systems.

In this paper,a design is presented for a high-speed,high-power motor for a four-legged robot actuator that was optimized using the weighted sum method(WSM)based on the Taguchi method,and the response surface method(RSM).First,output torque,torque constant,torque ripple,and efficiency were selected as objective functions for the optimized *** sampling method was implemented to use a mixed orthogonal array and the single response characteristics of each objective function were compared using the Taguchi ***,to consider the multi-response characteristic of the objective functions,WSM was ***,the 2D finite element analysis result of the RSM was compared with that using the ***,an experiment was carried out on the manufactured motor and the optimized model is presented here.

Hot electron generation on metal catalysts under surface reaction:Principles, devices, and application

Understanding the fundamental mechanisms for charge transfer in supported catalysts is of great importance for heterogeneous catalysis. Several experimental and theoretical results suggest that charge flow through metal-support interfaces leads to the catalytic enhancement that is often observed in mixed catalysts. Therefore, it is crucial to directly probe this charge flow in metal-support catalysts during catalytic reactions. In this review, we consider the main aspects of research studying the processes that create and allow interfacial transfer of highly excited（hot） charge carriers in supported catalysts, and discuss the effect of this charge transfer on catalytic activity. We show a close connection between the phenomena of hot electron creation and chemical energy dissipation that accompanies catalytic reactions at both the gas/solid and liquid/solid interfaces. The intensity of hot electron flow is well correlated with the turnover rates of corresponding reactions, which opens up the possibility for developing new operando methodologies for studying chemical processes on catalytic surfaces.

The photodynamic therapy on Streptococcus mutans biofilms using erythrosine and dental halogen curing unit

The purpose of our study was to evaluate the effect of photodynamic therapy （PDT）, using erythrosine as a photosensitizing agent and a dental halogen curing unit as a light source, on Streptococcus mutans in a biofilm phase. The S. mutans biofilms were formed in a 24-well cell culture cluster. Test groups consisted of biofilms divided into four groups： group 1： no photosensitizer or light irradiation treatment （control group）; group 2： photosensitizer treatment alone; group 3： light irradiation alone; group 4： photosensitizer treatment and light irradiation. After treatments, the numbers of colony-forming unit （CFU） were counted and samples were examined by confocal laser scanning fluorescence microscopy （CLSM）. Only group 4 （combined treatment） resulted in significant increases in cell death, with rates of 75% and 55% after 8 h of incubation, and 74% and 42% at 12 h, for biofilms formed in brain-heart infusion （BHI） broth supplemented with 0% or O. 1% sucrose, respectively. Therefore, PDT of S. mutans biofilms using a combination of erythrosine and a dental halogen curing unit, both widely used in dental clinics, resulted in a significant increase in cell death. The PDT effects are decreased in biofilms that form in the presence of sucrose.

Comparative analyses of the venom components in the salivary gland transcriptomes and saliva proteomes of some heteropteran insects

Salivary gland-specific transcriptomes of nine heteropteran insects with distinct feeding strategies (predaceous, hematophagous, and phytophagous) were analyzed and annotated to compare and identify the venom components as well as their expression profiles. The transcriptional abundance of venom genes was verified via quantitative real-time PCR. Hierarchical clustering of 30 representative differentially expressed venom genes from the nine heteropteran species revealed unique groups of salivary gland-specific genes depending on their feeding strategy. The commonly transcribed genes included a paralytic neurotoxin (arginine kinase), digestive enzymes (cathepsin and serine protease), an anti-inflammatory protein (cystatin), hexamerin, and an odorant binding protein. Both predaceous and hematophagous (bed bug) heteropteran species showed relatively higher transcription levels of genes encoding proteins involved in proteolysis and cytolysis, whereas phytophagous heteropterans exhibited little or no expression of these genes, but had a high expression of vitellogenin, a multifunctional allergen. Saliva proteomes from four representative species were also analyzed. All venom proteins identified via saliva proteome analysis were annotated using salivary gland transcriptome data. The proteomic expression profiles of venom proteins were in good agreement with the salivary gland-specific transcriptomic profiles. Our results indicate that profiling of the salivary gland transcriptome provides important information on the composition and evolutionary features of venoms depending on their feeding strategy.

Negative oncologic impact of poor postoperative pain control in left-sided pancreatic cancer

AIMTo investigate the association between postoperative pain control and oncologic outcomes in resected pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC).METHODSFrom January 2009 to December 2014, 221 patients were diagnosed with PDAC and underwent resection with curative intent. Retrospective review of the patients was performed based on electronic medical records system. One patient without records of numerical rating scale (NRS) pain intensity scores was excluded and eight patients who underwent total pancreatectomy were also excluded. NRS scores during 7 postoperative days following resection of PDAC were reviewed along with clinicopathologic characteristics. Patients were stratified into a good pain control group and a poor pain control group according to the difference in average pain intensity between the early (POD 1, 2, 3) and late (POD 5, 7) postoperative periods. Cox-proportional hazards multivariate analysis was performed to determine association between postoperative pain control and oncologic *** total of 212 patients were dichotomized into good pain control group (n = 162) and poor pain control group (n = 66). Median follow-up period was 17 mo. A negative impact of poor postoperative pain control on overall survival (OS) was observed in the group of patients receiving distal pancreatectomy (DP group; 42.0 mo vs 5.0 mo, P = 0.001). Poor postoperative pain control was also associated with poor disease-free survival (DFS) in the DP group (18.0 mo vs 8.0 mo, P = 0.001). Patients undergoing pancreaticoduodenectomy or pylorus-preserving pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD group) did not show associations between postoperative pain control and oncologic outcomes.
