Immunotherapy remains more effective for hematologic tumors than for solid *** of the main challenges to immunotherapy of solid tumors is the immunosuppressive microenvironment these tumors generate,which limits the cytotoxic capabilities of immune effector cells(e.g.,cytotoxic T and natural killer cells).This microenvironment is characterized by hypoxia,nutrient starvation,accumulated waste products,and acidic ***-hijacked cells,such as fibroblasts,macrophages,and T regulatory cells,also contribute to this inhospitable microenvironment for immune cells by secreting immunosuppressive cytokines that suppress the antitumor immune response and lead to immune ***,there is a strong interest in developing new drugs and cell formulations that modulate the tumor microenvironment and reduce tumor cell immune *** systems(mPSs)are versatile tools that may accelerate the development and evaluation of these therapies,although specific examples showcasing the potential of mPSs remain *** in microtechnologies have led to the development of sophisticated microfluidic devices used to recapitulate tumor *** resulting models,also known as microphysiological systems(mPSs),are versatile tools with which to decipher the molecular mechanisms driving immune cell antitumor cytotoxicity,immune cell exhaustion,and immune cell exclusion and to evaluate new targeted ***,we review existing microphysiological platforms to study immuno-oncological applications and discuss challenges and opportunities in the field.

钙钛矿结构荧光材料mZrO_3:Eu^(3+),A(m=Ca^(2+), Ba^(2+);A=Li^+, Na^+, K^+)的制备及其发光性质(英文)

Calcium and barium zirconate powders based upon CaZrO 3:Eu3+ , A and BaZrO 3:Eu3+, A(A=Li+, Na+, K+) were prepared by combustion synthesis method and heating to ~1000 °C to improve crystallinity. The structure and morphology of materials were examined by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEm). XRD results showed that CaZrO 3:Eu3+, A and BaZrO 3:Eu3+, A (A=Li+, Na+, K+) perovskites possessed orthorhombic and cubic structures, respectively. The morphologies of all powders were very similar consisting of small, coagulated, cubical particles with narrow size distributions and smooth and regular surfaces. The characteristic luminescences of Eu 3 + ions in CaZrO 3 :Eu3+ , A (A=Li+, Na+, K+) lattices were present with strong emissions at 614 and 625 nm for 5D0 →7F2 transitions with other weaker emissions observed at 575, 592, 655, and 701 nm corresponding to 5D0 → 7Fn transitions (where n=0,1,3,4, respectively). In BaZrO3:Eu3 + both the 5D0 → 7F1and5D0 → 7F2 transitions at 595 and 613 nm were strong. Photoluminescence intensities of CaZrO3:Eu3+samples were higher than those of BaZrO 3:Eu3+lattices. This remarkable increase of photoluminescence intensity (corresponding to 5D0→7Fn transitions) was observed in CaZrO3:Eu3+and BaZrO3:Eu3+ if co-doped with Li + ions. An additional broad band composed of many peaks between 440 to 575 nm was observed in BaZrO3:Eu3+, A samples. The intensity of this band was greatest in Li + co-doped samples and lowest for K + doped samples.

Improving outcomes in pancreatic cancer: Key points in perioperative management

This review focused in the perioperative management of patients with pancreatic cancer in order to improve the outcome of the disease. We consider that the most controversial points in pancreatic cancer management are jaundice management, vascular resection and neo-adjuvant therapy. Preoperative biliary drainage is recommended only in patients with severe jaundice, as it can lead to infectious cholangitis, pancreatitis and delay in resection, which can lead to tumor progression. The development of a phase III clinical trial is mandatory to clarify the role of neo-adjuvant radiochemotherapy in pancreatic adenocarcinoma. Venous resection does not adversely affect postoperative mortality and morbidity, therefore, the need for venous resection should not be a contraindication to surgical resection in selected patients. The data on arterial resection alone, or combined with vascular resection at the time of pancreatectomy are more heterogeneous, thus, patient age and comorbidity should be evaluated before a decision on operability is made. In patients undergoing R0 resection, arterial resection can also be performed.

Validation of kinetic modeling of progesterone release from polymeric membranes

mathematical modeling in drug release systems is fundamental in development and optimization of these systems, since it allows to predict drug release rates and to elucidate the physical transport mechanisms involved. In this paper we validate a novel mathematical model that describes progesterone(Prg) controlled release from poly-3-hydroxybutyric acid(PHB) membranes. A statistical analysis was conducted to compare the fitting of our model with six different models and the akaike information criterion(AIC) was used to find the equation with best-fit. A simple relation between mass and drug released rate was found,which allows predicting the effect of Prg loads on the release behavior. Our proposed model was the one with minimum AIC value, and therefore it was the one that statistically fitted better the experimental data obtained for all the Prg loads tested. Furthermore, the initial release rate was calculated and therefore, the interface mass transfer coefficient estimated and the equilibrium distribution constant of Prg between the PHB and the release medium was also determined. The results lead us to conclude that our proposed model is the one which best fits the experimental data and can be successfully used to describe Prg drug release in PHB membranes.

Effects of a 3-month vigorous physical activity intervention on eating behaviors and body composition in overweight and obese boys and girls

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the effects of a 3-month vigorous physical activity(VPA) intervention on eating behavior and body composition in overweight and obese children and ***: Forty-seven participants(7–16 years) took part in the study: 28 were assigned to the intervention group(IG)(10 boys and 18 girls) and19 in a control group(CG)(8 boys and 11 girls). Body composition(dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry), anthropometrics(body mass, height, and body mass index(BmI)), and eating behavior traits(Three-Factor Eating Questionnaire-R21 C) were determined before and after the VPA ***: A decrease in the percentage of body fat and BmI(-2.8% and-1.8%, respectively), and an increase in most lean mass variables were found in the IG(all p ≤ 0.05). In relation to the eating behavior traits, IG subjects showed a 14% reduction in the Emotional Eating score(p = 0.04),while Cognitive Restraint score did not change after the VPA intervention. The baseline factors of the questionnaire predicted changes in body mass and fat mass variables only in the ***: A 3-month VPA intervention influenced eating behaviors of overweight or obese young, especially the Emotional Eating factor, in the presence of favorable body composition changes.

SCADA Data-Based Support Vector machine for False Alarm Identification for Wind Turbine management

maintenance operations have a critical influence on power gen-eration by wind turbines(WT).Advanced algorithms must analyze large volume of data from condition monitoring systems(CmS)to determine the actual working conditions and avoid false *** paper proposes different support vector machine(SVm)algorithms for the prediction and detection of false alarms.K-Fold cross-validation(CV)is applied to evaluate the classification reliability of these *** Control and Data Acquisition(SCADA)data from an operating WT are applied to test the proposed *** results from the quadratic SVm showed an accuracy rate of 98.6%.misclassifications from the confusion matrix,alarm log and maintenance records are analyzed to obtain quantitative information and determine if it is a false *** classifier reduces the number of false alarms called misclassifications by 25%.These results demonstrate that the proposed approach presents high reliability and accuracy in false alarm identification.

Autophagy is an essential cellular homeostatic mechanism by which intracellular components are delivered into the lysosomes for degradation and *** has been related with a diversity of pathological or physiological dentary processes such as bone remodeling,skeletal aging,osteoclastogenesis,osteoblastogenesis and different types of oral ***-rich plasma(PRP),isolated from autologous blood,is a plasma preparation containing a higher concentration of platelets which contains numerous different growth factors and cytokines that activate several cellular signaling *** purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of PRP on autophagy stimulation in both osteoblast precursor 3T3-L1 and non-related osteoblastic *** results showed that PRP can increase the number of autophagic structures in 3T3-L1 and HeLa(cervical cancer cells)***,we have determined by Western blot a rise in the lipidated form of the autophagic protein LC3(***3-II)upon PRP *** together,our results suggest that PRP is able to induce a strongly autophagy response in osteoblast precursor and,to a lesser extent,in non-related osteoblastic cells,suggesting that PRP could be a potential therapeutic tool for some autophagy-related diseases associated with bone homeostasis.

An analytical methodology based on an O-[2-(methacryloyloxy)-ethylcarbamoyl]-10,11-dihydroquinidine(mQD)-silica hybrid monolithic column was developed for the enantioseparation of 9-fluorenylmethoxycarbonyl(FmOC)derivatized amino acids by nano-liquid *** mobile phase was optimized including the apparent pH,content of ACN,and concentration of the buffer to obtain a satisfactory enantioresolution performance.27 FmOC derivatized amino acids including 19 protein and 8 non-protein amino acids were tested,and 19 out of them were enantiomerically discriminated obtaining baseline separation for 11 of *** characteristics of the method were evaluated for norvaline and tryptophan in terms of linearity,precision,accuracy,limits of detection(LOD)and quantitation(LOQ)showing good performance to be applied to the enantiomeric determination of these amino acids in dietary *** and LOQ values were 9.3 and 31 mm for norvaline enantiomers and 7.5 and 25 mm for tryptophan enantiomers,*** contents of D-norvaline and D-tryptophan were below their respective LODs in all the analyzed *** of L-tryptophan and L-norvaline showed good agreement with the labeled contents except for one sample which did not show presence of L-norvaline,contrary to the label indication.

We present an unusual case of portal vein thrombosis with a splanchnic hemangioma secondary to acute biliary pancreatitis. We report a 45-year-old patient, who has systemic arterial hypertension in treatment, was admitted for abdominal pain in the epigastrium, with irradiation to the right hypochondrium, accompanied by nausea and vomiting of 10 occasions of bile content, physical examination with pain in the right hypochondrium, murphy positive. We have laboratory studies with a lipase of 788, so a diagnosis of pancreatitis is made with an etiology to be determined. The laboratories suggestive of acute biliary pancreatitis (lipase 788.71);an imaging study was subsequently performed (ultrasonography) with the result of stone in the common bile duct. A laparoscopy was performed with relative improvement, so he was discharged and returned 20 days after surgery due to abdominal pain of the same intensity in the left hypochondrium. Ending his hospitalization with a splenectomy for splenic hemangioma with portal vein thrombosis.
