In this paper, the CE/SE method is developed to simulate the two- and three-dimensional flow-field of Pulse Detonation Engine (PDE). The conservation equations with stiff source terms for chemical reaction are solved in two steps. The detailed analysis of computational results of a PDE with a single detonation tube and a PDE with five detonation tubes are given in this paper. Complex wave systems are observed inside and outside a PDE. For a PDE with 5 detonation tubes, there is a big bow shock produced from a number of little shocks near the open ends of tubes. A lot of vortexes interact with shocks and a large expansion wave propagates forward and backward with respect to the PDE in a semi-oval shape.

A vehicular ad-hoc network （VANET） can be visualized as a network of moving vehicles communicating in an asynchronous and autonomous fashion. Efficient and scalable information dissemination in VANET applications is a major challenge due to the movement of vehicles which causes unpredictable changes in network topology. The publish/subscribe communication paradigm provides decoupling in time, space, and synchronization between communicating entities, and presents itself as an elegant solution for information dissemination for VANET like environments. In this paper, we propose our approach for information dissemination which utilizes publish/subscribe and distributed hash table （DHT） based overlay networks. In our approach, we assume a hybrid VANET consisting of stationary info-stations and moving vehicles. These info-stations are installed at every major intersection of the city and vehicles can take the role of publisher, subscriber, or broker depending upon the context. The info-stations form a DHT based broker overlay among themselves and act as rendezvous points for related publications and subscriptions. Further, info-stations also assist in locating vehicles that have subscribed to information items. We consider different possible deployments of this hybrid VANET with respect to the number of info-stations and their physical connectivity with each other. We perform simulations to assess the performance of our approach in these different deployment scenarios and discuss their applicability in urban and semi-urban areas.

The aim of this study was to establish the source and provenance of sediments deposited in a large floodplain sink during extreme floods in the Lockyer Creek catchment, Australia, in 2011 and 2013. We place the sediment source patterns in context of the longer-term record to determine whether coarsegrained sediment sources(i.e., very fine sand to very coarse sand) and the spatio-temporal pattern of(dis)connectivity have changed over time. We do this by matching the geochemical properties and age structure of a sediment profile located in a downstream floodplain sink to the elemental composition of source sediments. One hundred and fifty-seven sediment samples from 20 sites across the catchment are analysed using X-ray fluorescence(XRF) spectrometry to compare the elemental ratio composition of the downstream floodplain sink to its source materials. We use Optically Stimulated Luminescence(OSL)dating to determine the age structure of the sediments in the floodplain sink. The northern tributaries and parts of the Lockyer River trunk stream are the primary sources of coarse sediment. These areas are connected(coupled) to the lower trunk stream and floodplain sediment sink. Southern tributaries are largely disconnected(decoupled) and supply little sediment to the floodplain sediment sink. This pattern of sediment source contribution has remained similar over the last 6.8 ka at least. Sediment sources as observed in the 2011 flood have predominated over the mid-late Holocene whilst those in the 2013 flood are rare.

Clinical significance of mesenteric panniculitis-like abnormalities on abdominal computerized tomography in patients with malignant neoplasms

AIM To clarify the association of malignancy with mesenteric panniculitis-like changes on computed tomography(CT).METHODS All abdominal CT scans performed at North Shore University HealthS ystem showing mesenteric panniculitis from January 2005 to August 2010 were identified in the Radnet(Rad Net Corporation, Los Angeles, CA) database. Patients with a new or known diagnosis of a malignancy were included for this analysis. Longitudinal clinical histories were obtained from electronic medical *** In total, 147794 abdominal CT scans were performed during the study period. Three hundred and fiftynine patients had mesenteric panniculitis(MP)-like abnormalities on their abdominal CT. Of these patients, 81 patients(22.6%) had a known history of cancer at the time of their CT scan. Nineteen(5.3%) had a new diagnosis of cancer in concurrence with their CT, but the majority of these(14/19, 74%) were undergoing CT as part of a malignancy evaluation. Lymphomas were the most common cancers associated with MPlike findings on CT(36 cases, 36%), with follicular lymphoma being the most frequent subtype(17/36). A variety of solid tumors, most commonly prostate(7) and renal cell cancers(6) also were seen. CT follow up was obtained in 56 patients. Findings in the mesentery were unchanged in 45(80%), worsened in 6(11%), and improved in 5 patients(9%). Positron emission tomography(PET) scans performed in 44 patients only showed a positive uptake in the mesenteric mass in 2 patients(5%). CONCLUSION A new diagnosis of cancer is uncommon in patients with CT findings suggestive of MP. MP-like mesenteric abnormalities on CT generally remain stable in patients with associated malignancies. PET scanning is not recommended in the evaluation of patients with mesenteric panniculitis-like findings on CT.

建立了非定常爆轰波的理论模型。根据CE/SE方法的基本思想,推导出适合于求解二维N S方程的长方形网格的CE/SE方法。对于包含刚性反应源项的守恒方程组,将其分为两部分,其中刚性反应源项单独求解。本文以爆轰管内装填C3H8/O2预混气体为例,数值模拟管内爆轰波的传播过程以及爆轰波脱离爆轰管后流场的图谱。计算结果显示,爆轰波在管内传播时,其波系极其复杂。当爆轰波离开出口后,迅速熄灭为非反应的激波。管外不仅有激波、膨胀波的传播,而且还存在激波与涡的相互作用。数值实践表明,该CE/SE方法可以有效捕获爆轰波与激波等强间断。

Natural Colonization of Rice by Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi in Different Production Areas

Interactions between plants and soil microorganisms can influence the other interactions in which plants participate, including interactions with herbivores. Many fungi, including arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi(AMF), form symbiotic relationships with the roots they inhabit, and potentially alter defense against pests. The objective of this study was to document the extent of root colonization by AMF on non-flooded rice plants grown under conditions typical of commercial fields. We hypothesized that AMF naturally colonized rice plants in different rice producing field locations. Rice plant samples were collected from areas across the southern United States, including Texas, Mississippi, Arkansas and two research stations in Louisiana. We quantified the amount of AMF colonization in insecticide-free rice plants over three consecutive years(2014–2016). The results revealed natural colonization of AMF in all rice producing areas. In all the three years of survey, rice-AMF associations were the greatest in Arkansas followed by Mississippi and Texas. This research will help draw attention to natural colonization of AMF in rice producing areas that can impact future rice research and production by facilitating agricultural exploitation of the symbiosis.
