Development and application of photocatalytic coating for roadside NO_(x) mitigation in Hong Kong

A facile chemical method for the development of photocatalytic coating products was proposed based on practical application perspective for the Hong Kong roadside nitrogen oxides(NO_(x))mitigation.TiO_(2)-based photocatalytic coating PC-C film with crystallized size of around 5–6 nm was synthesized with the peptization of H_(2)O_(2).The PC-C coating possesses a super-hydrophilicity surface and is proven to have a NO_(x)degradation rate of 46.8%with an optimum pH level of 7.In addition,the PC-C coating presents a promising photocatalytic NO_(x)degradation compared with other commercially available coating products and P25 when applied on two building materials of poly-methyl methacrylate(PMMA)and concrete surface.A weather resistance simulation and a 180-day on-site field trial were carried out the attenuation effects of photocatalytic coating applied in outdoor exposure.Based on epidemiological estimation and field investigation,hospital admissions for respiratory diseases(HARD)and mortality cases(MC)could be reduced with the application of PC-C coating along the street canyon.This work demonstrates the feasibility of air pollution control measures for the local roadside NO_(x)using photocatalytic technology,offering promising health benefits with environmental remediation.

Cherenkov radiation(CR)is available for a wide variety of terahertz(THz)radiation sources,but its efficiency is deeply affected by intrinsic losses.We find that if the tilted angle(α)of anisotropic material and radiation angle(θ)meet the condition ofθ+α=π/2,the intensity of radiation fields for the charged particle bunch(CPB)moving from left to right cannot be influenced by intrinsic losses,which means long-distance radiation can be achieved.Furthermore,we observe an asymmetric CR when the CPB moves from the opposite direction.In addition,we select natural van der Waals(vd W)materialα-MoO3as an example,further confirming that the radiation field can reach the far field and the asymmetric CR radiation can also be observed.These wonderful properties with long-distance radiation will extend the application of CR to a certain extent for future design and fabrication.

Extracellular vesicles(EVs)have recently emerged as a promising delivery platform for CRISPR/Cas9 ribonucleoproteins(RNPs),owing to their ability to minimize off-target effects and immune responses.However,enhancements are required to boost the efficiency and safety of Cas9 RNP enrichment within EVs.In response,we employed the Fc/Spa interaction system,in which the human Fc domain was fused to the intracellular domain of PTGFRN-Δ687 and anchored to the EV membrane.Simultaneously,the B domain of the Spa protein was fused to the C domain of cargos such as Cre or spCas9.Due to the robust interaction between Fc and Spa,this method enriched nearly twice the amount of cargo within the EVs.EVs loaded with spCas9 RNP targeting the HSV1 genome exhibited significant inhibition of viral replication in vitro and in vivo.Moreover,following neuron-targeting peptide RVG modification,the in vivo dosage in neural tissues substantially increased,contributing to the clearance of the HSV1 virus in neural tissues and exhibiting a lower off-target efficiency.These findings establish a robust platform for efficient EV-based SpCas9 delivery,offering potential therapeutic advantages for HSV1 infections and other neurological disorders.

Study of Air Quality Objectives (AQOs) and long-term changes of air pollution plays a decisive role in formulating and re?ning pollution control strategies.In this study,10-year variations of six major air pollutants were analyzed at seven monitoring sites in Hong Kong.The continuous decrease of annual averaged concentrations of NO2,SO2,CO,PM2.5and PM10and numbers of days with severe pollution conditions validated the ef?ciency of the series of air pollution control schemes implemented by the Hong Kong government.However,there is still a big gap to meet the ultimate targets described by the World Health Organization.Besides,the concentration of O3at roadside and urban stations increased by 135%±25%and37%±18%from 2011 to 2020,respectively,meanwhile the highest 8 hr averaged O3concentration was observed as 294μg/m3at background station in 2020,which pointed out the increasing ozone pollution in Hong Kong.There was a great decrease in the annual times of air quality health index (AQHI) laying in“high”,“very high”and“serious”categories from2011 to 2020 with the decrease rate of 89.70%,91.30%and 89.74%at roadside stations,and79.03%,95.98%and 72.73%at urban stations,respectively.Nevertheless,the number of days categorized as“high”or above at roadside station was twice more than that in the urban station during the past ten years.Thus,more policies and attentions should be given to the roadside air quality and its adverse health effect to pedestrians on street.

Fine-tuning the structure-tolerance-antitumor efficacy axis of prodrug nanoassemblies via branched aliphatic functionalization

Small-molecule prodrug nanoassemblies have emerged as efficient antitumor drug delivery systems.However,in the case of camptothecins-based prodrug nanoassemblies,linear aliphatic side chain modification often results in rod-shaped or irregularly shaped nanoassemblies,which are highly unfavorable for sterilization through filtration,and may cause capillary blockage upon intravenous injection.The rational design of camptothecins-based prodrug nanoassemblies remains a challenge.Herein,we propose that branched aliphatic alcohol(BAA)functionalization could fine-tune the structure-tolerance-antitumor efficacy axis of prodrug nanoassemblies.Correspondingly,four SN38-BAA prodrugs were synthesized by conjugating 7-ethyl-10-hydroxycamptothecin(SN38)with BAAs of varying lengths via a tumor redox-responsive disulfide bond,which self-assemble into uniform spherical nanoparticles.The length of BAA was found to significant impact the multiple drug delivery process,including colloidal stability,drug release profiles and pharmacokinetics.Overall,SN38-C21 NPs(SN38-11-heneicosanol nanoparticles),featuring the longest BAA,showcased multiple therapeutic advantages,ultimately culminating the optimal antitumor efficacy and tolerance.The findings underscore the potential of BAA functionalization in strengthening the therapeutic outcomes of prodrug nanoassemblies,and provide valuable insights for developing translational camptothecins-based nanomedicines.

【目的】糖苷水解酶(GH)作为破坏植物细胞壁的重要酶类,在植物病原菌致病过程中发挥着重要作用。为了解GH蛋白之间的互作机制,对禾谷炭疽菌GH互作蛋白及其遗传关系进行研究。【方法】基于前期所获得的禾谷炭疽菌GH蛋白,通过STRING网络在线分析不同GH蛋白之间的互作关系,通过ProtComp v9.0在线分析GH蛋白的亚细胞定位,利用Clustal X和MEGA 11软件对GH蛋白进行多重比对和构建系统进化树,并选取互作关系多的蛋白通过GRAMM在线软件进行分子对接。【结果】禾谷炭疽菌中89个GH蛋白之间的互作表现为3大类的聚集关系,其中,Ⅰ类聚集了34个GH蛋白,Ⅱ类聚集了33个GH蛋白,Ⅲ类聚集了22个GH蛋白;85个GH蛋白定位于细胞外(分泌),仅4个GH蛋白定位于细胞核、内质网、细胞质膜。系统发育树分为4大类,有一些GH亚家族蛋白只存在于一类中,也有一些GH亚家族蛋白同时存在于两类及两类以上中;分子对接发现,互作蛋白之间均存在多个相互作用的氨基酸残基位点。【结论】禾谷炭疽菌GH蛋白之间有3种互作情况,即不同亚家族GH蛋白之间的互作、同一亚家族中不同GH蛋白之间的互作以及不存在互作关系;大部分GH蛋白定位于细胞外;大多数GH亚家族中不同蛋白亲缘关系较近,蛋白之间可通过氢键相互作用。

现代汉语词汇通感隐喻映射模型一直是国内外研究的重点课题之一,前人研究鲜有在语素层面展开讨论,且较少将心理感觉纳入到通感映射模型中。本文论证了心理感觉在通感映射模型中的必要性,并据此归纳整理了《现代汉语词典》(第7版)192个形容词性通感复合词,分析了293个通感映射案例后,归纳出29种映射方式,发现汉语词汇通感隐喻系统可分为三个层级;通感映射系统整体呈现定向性,但层级间存在不同的映射规则。在此基础上,本文从语素层面出发,构建了现代汉语复合词内通感隐喻映射模型,同时区分语言通感和神经通感,并基于所构建的通感隐喻模型推导出汉语的感觉可及性顺序。不同语言感觉可及性顺序不仅进一步证明了语言之间的民族性,也为词汇学和训诂学中的词义演变研究提供了新思路和新方法。
