Developing efficient and durable hydrogen evolution reaction（HER） electrocatalysts is one of the most important issues for the commercialization of seawater electrolysis,but it remains challenging.Here,we report a CeO2-CoP nanoneedle array catalyst loaded on Ti mesh（CeO2-CoP/TM） with workfunction-induced directional charge transport properties.The CeO2-CoP/TM catalyst showed superior HER catalytic activity and stability,with over potentials of 41 and 60 mV to attain 10 mA cm-2,in 1 M KOH and 1 M KOH+seawater electrolyte,respectively.Experimental results and theoretical calculations reveal that the work function drives the charge transfer from CeO2to CoP,which effectively balances the electronic density of CoP and CeO2,optimizes the d-band center,and accelerates the water activation kinetics,thus enhancing the HER activity.The solar-driven water electrolysis device displays a high and stable solar-to-hydrogen conversion efficiency of 19.6%.This study offers a work function-induced directional charge transport strategy to design efficient and durable catalysts for hydrogen production.

BACKGROUND Cancer patients often suffer from severe stress reactions psychologically,such as anxiety and depression.Prostate cancer(PC)is one of the common cancer types,with most patients diagnosed at advanced stages that cannot be treated by radical surgery and which are accompanied by complications such as bodily pain and bone metastasis.Therefore,attention should be given to the mental health status of PC patients as well as physical adverse events in the course of clinical treatment.AIM To analyze the risk factors leading to anxiety and depression in PC patients after castration and build a risk prediction model.METHODS A retrospective analysis was performed on the data of 120 PC cases treated in Xi'an People's Hospital between January 2019 and January 2022.The patient cohort was divided into a training group(n=84)and a validation group(n=36)at a ratio of 7:3.The patients’anxiety symptoms and depression levels were assessed 2 wk after surgery with the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS)and the Selfrating Depression Scale(SDS),respectively.Logistic regression was used to analyze the risk factors affecting negative mood,and a risk prediction model was constructed.RESULTS In the training group,35 patients and 37 patients had an SAS score and an SDS score greater than or equal to 50,respectively.Based on the scores,we further subclassified patients into two groups:a bad mood group(n=35)and an emotional stability group(n=49).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that marital status,castration scheme,and postoperative Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)score were independent risk factors affecting a patient's bad mood(P<0.05).In the training and validation groups,patients with adverse emotions exhibited significantly higher risk scores than emotionally stable patients(P<0.0001).The area under the curve(AUC)of the risk prediction model for predicting bad mood in the training group was 0.743,the specificity was 70.96%,and the sensitivity was 66.03%,while in the validation group,the AUC,specificity,and sensitivity were 0

INTRODUCTION.In recent years,with the steady development of offshore energy exploration technology,submarine gas seepage sites,and their products are gradually being identified and analyzed.The submarine cold seep is a seepage phenomenon in which hydrocarbon gases stored deep in the seafloor are transported to seawater by gushing or seepage under the action of tectonic compression(Roy et al.,2019;Tinivella and Giustiniani,2016).

Background:Hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury(HIRI)remains a common complication during liver transplantation(LT)in patients.As a key downstream effector of the Hippo pathway,Yes-associated protein(YAP)has been reported to be involved in various physiological and pathological processes.However,it remains elusive whether and how YAP may control autophagy activation during ischemia-reperfusion.Methods:Human liver tissues from patients who had undergone LT were obtained to evaluate the correlation between YAP and autophagy activation.Both an in vitro hepatocyte cell line and in vivo liver-specific YAP knockdown mice were used to establish the hepatic ischemia-reperfusion models to determine the role of YAP in the activation of autophagy and the mechanism of regulation.Results:Autophagy was activated in the post-perfusion liver grafts during LT in patients,and the expression of YAP positively correlated with the autophagic level of hepatocytes.Liver-specific knockdown of YAP inhibited hepatocytes autophagy upon hypoxia-reoxygenation and HIRI(P<0.05).YAP deficiency aggravated HIRI by promoting the apoptosis of hepatocytes both in the in vitro and in vivo models(P<0.05).Attenuated HIRI by overexpression of YAP was diminished after the inhibition of autophagy with 3-methyladenine.In addition,inhibiting autophagy activation by YAP knockdown exacerbated mitochondrial damage through increasing reactive oxygen species(P<0.05).Moreover,the regulation of autophagy by YAP during HIRI was mediated by AP1(c-Jun)N-terminal kinase(JNK)signaling through binding to the transcriptional enhanced associate domain(TEAD).Conclusions:YAP protects against HIRI by inducing autophagy via JNK signaling that suppresses the apoptosis of hepatocytes.Targeting Hippo(YAP)-JNK-autophagy axis may provide a novel strategy for the prevention and treatment of HIRI.

Neural networks have achieved impressive breakthroughs in both industry and academia.How to effectively develop neural networks on quantum computing devices is a challenging open problem.Here,we propose a new quantum neural network model for quantum neural computing using(classically controlled)single-qubit operations and measurements on real-world quantum systems with naturally occurring environment-induced decoherence,which greatly reduces the difficulties of physical implementations.Our model circumvents the problem that the state-space size grows exponentially with the number of neurons,thereby greatly reducing memory requirements and allowing for fast optimization with traditional optimization algorithms.We benchmark our model for handwritten digit recognition and other nonlinear classification tasks.The results show that our model has an amazing nonlinear classification ability and robustness to noise.Furthermore,our model allows quantum computing to be applied in a wider context and inspires the earlier development of a quantum neural computer than standard quantum computers.

Ultra-high nickel layered oxide cathode material with high energy density is the most promising material to improve the electrochemical performance of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs).However,the poor structural stability and severe surface/interface side reactions of the material lead to poor rate performance and cyclic stability,which limits its application in practice.In this paper,the dual-modification strategy of Co doping and La_(2)O_(3) coating is used to meet the above challenges.Co doping can effectively widen layer spacing and reduce Li^(+)/Ni^(2+) mixing,and La_(2)O_(3) coating can effectively eliminate the residual alkali on the surface of active material,inhibit the thickening of cathode electrolyte interphase(CEI)film and reduce surface/interface side reactions.Therefore,the modified material(NM90-CL)with excellent electrochemical properties is achieved through the synergistic enhancement of Co doping and La_(2)O_(3) coating.Its capacity retention rate can reach 77.9%after 200 cycles at 1.0℃ and 75.7%after 200 cycles at 5.0℃.Its reversible capacity can up to 153.5 mAh·g^(–1) at 10.0℃.This dual-modification strategy will provide theoretical guidance and technical support for the synthesis of other high-performance electrode materials.

BACKGROUND Hypertension is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease and stroke,and its prevalence is increasing worldwide.Health education interventions based on the health belief model(HBM)can improve the knowledge,attitudes,and behaviors of patients with hypertension and help them control their blood pressure.AIM To evaluate the effects of health education interventions based on the HBM in patients with hypertension in China.METHODS Between 2021 and 2023,140 patients with hypertension were randomly assigned to either the intervention or control group.The intervention group received health education based on the HBM,including lectures,brochures,videos,and counseling sessions,whereas the control group received routine care.Outcomes were measured at baseline,three months,and six months after the intervention and included blood pressure,medication adherence,self-efficacy,and perceived benefits,barriers,susceptibility,and severity.RESULTS The intervention group had significantly lower systolic blood pressure[mean difference(MD):-8.2 mmHg,P<0.001]and diastolic blood pressure(MD:-5.1 mmHg,P=0.002)compared to the control group at six months.The intervention group also had higher medication adherence(MD:1.8,P<0.001),self-efficacy(MD:12.4,P<0.001),perceived benefits(MD:3.2,P<0.001),lower perceived barriers(MD:-2.6,P=0.001),higher perceived susceptibility(MD:2.8,P=0.002),and higher perceived severity(MD:3.1,P<0.001)than the control group at six months.CONCLUSION Health education interventions based on the HBM effectively improve blood pressure control and health beliefs in patients with hypertension and should be implemented in clinical practice and community settings.

Enhancing catalytic activity through modulating the interaction between N-doped carbon and metal phosphides clusters is an effective approach.Herein,the electronic structure modulation of CoP_(2) supported N-modified carbon(CoP_(2)/NC)has been designed and prepared as efficient electrocatalysts for oxygen reduction reaction(ORR),oxygen evolution reaction(OER),and hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).Notably,CoP_(2)/NC-1 catalyst exhibits impressive performance in alkaline media,with an ORR half-wave potential of 0.84 V,as well as OER and HER overpotentials of 290 and 129 mV(at 10 mA·cm^(−2)),respectively.In addition,CoP_(2)/NC-1 produces a power density as high as 172.9 mW·cm^(−2),and excellent reversibility of 100 h at 20 mA·cm^(−2) in home-made Zn-air batteries.The experimental results demonstrate that the synergistic interactions between N modified carbon substrate and CoP_(2) material significantly enhance the kinetics of ORR,OER,and HER.Density functional theory(DFT)calculations reveal the strong electrons redistribution of CoP_(2) induced by high-density N atoms at the interface,thus optimizing the key intermediates and significantly lower the energy barrier of reactions.These electronic adjustments of CoP_(2) greatly enhance its kinetics of ORR/OER/HER,leading to faster reactions.This study provides profound insights into the specific modification of CoP_(2) by N-doped carbon,enabling the construction of efficient catalysts.

BACKGROUND Morgagni hernias are rare anomalies that are easily misdiagnosed or missed.AIM To summarize the ultrasound(US)imaging characteristics of Morgagni hernias through a comparison of imaging and surgical results.METHODS The records of children with Morgagni hernias who were hospitalized at two hospitals between January 2013 and November 2023 were retrospectively re-viewed in terms of clinical findings,US features,and operative details.RESULTS Between 2013 and 2023,we observed nine(five male and four female)children with Morgagni hernias.Upper abdominal scanning revealed a widening of the prehepatic space,with an abnormal channel extending from the xiphoid process to the right or left side of the thoracic cavity.The channel had intestinal duct and intestinal gas echoes.Hernia contents were found in the transverse colon(n=6),the colon and small intestine(n=2),and the colon and stomach(n=1).Among the patients,seven had a right-sided lesion,two had a left-sided lesion,and all of them had hernial sacs.CONCLUSION US imaging can accurately determine the location,extent,and content of Morgagni hernias.For suspected Mor-gagni hernias,we recommend performing sonographic screening first.
