Sudden and unforeseen seismic failures of coal mine overburden(OB)dump slopes interrupt mining operations,cause loss of lives and delay the production of *** of the spatial heterogeneity of OB dump materials is imperative for an adequate evaluation of the seismic stability of OB dump *** this study,pseudo-static seismic stability analyses are carried out for an OB dump slope by considering the material parameters obtained from an insitu field *** heterogeneity is simulated through use of the random finite element method(RFEM)and the random limit equilibrium method(RLEM)and a comparative study is *** of horizontal and vertical spatial correlation lengths were considered for simulating isotropic and anisotropic random fields within the OB dump *** performances of the slope have been reported through the probability of failure and reliability *** was observed that the RLEM approach overestimates failure probability(P_(f))by considering seismic stability with spatial *** P_(f)was observed to increase with an increase in the coefficient of variation of friction angle of the dump ***,it was inferred that the RLEM approach may not be adequately applicable for assessing the seismic stability of an OB dump slope for a horizontal seismic coefficient that is more than or equal to 0.1.

Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is the most important cereal food grain crop and is consumed by the majority of the world’s human population. Among all cultivars, fragrant/aromatic rice is preferred by the better part of the human population because of its aroma, taste and cooking quality. But most of the fragrant rice varieties are low yielding and easily sensitive to the surrounding environmental condition. Among different agronomic performances, proper nutrient management can improve the yield of fragrant rice not only by giving the required amount of nutrients but also by maintaining the health of the soil and the quality of the produce. In most cases, traditional agricultural practices degraded soil health and increased environmental pollution which leads to inferior grain quality. On the other hand, excessive application of chemical fertilizers reduced the nutrient status of the soil and badly affected the soil productivity and environmental stability. Therefore, a suitable approach of nutrient management is required to keep the production of fragrant rice to a notable amount and increase the nutrient use efficiency of soil. Application of manures and fertilizers in an appropriate dose which is the main object of nutrient management is required for its utmost importance in the growth and development of the crop that finally results in better yield and grain quality. Therefore, nutrient management is an important aspect in aromatic rice production to attain sustainable grain yield and high economic return with better quality of produce.

A numerical analysis on dual core photonic crystal fiber (DC-PCF) based surface plasmon resonance (SPR) refractive index sensor is presented. The guiding parameters and required sensing performances are examined with finite element method (FEM) based software under MATLAB environment. According to simulation, it is warranted that the proposed refractive index sensor offers the maximum amplitude sensitivity of 554.9 refractive index unit (RIU-1) and 636.5 RIU 1 with the maximum wavelength sensitivity of 5800nm/RIU and 11 500nm/RIU, and the sensor resolutions of 1.72 ×10^-5RIU and 8.7× 10^-6 RIU, at analyte refractive index (RI) of 1.40 for x- and y-polarized modes, respectively. As the sensing performance in different wavelength ranges is quite high, the proposed sensor can be used in simultaneous detection for different wavelength ranges. Therefore, the proposed device is of a suitable platform for detecting biological, chemical, biochemical, and organic chemical analytes.

Radio resource management mechanisms in current and future wireless networks is expected to face an enormous challenge due to the ever increasing demand for bandwidth and latency sensitive applications on mobile devices. This is because an optimal resource allocation scheme which attempts to multiplex the available bandwidth in order to maximize Quality of service(QoS), will pose an exponential computational burden at eNodeB. In order to minimize such computational overhead, this work proposes a hybrid offline-online resource allocation strategy which effectively allocates all the available resources among flows such that their QoS requirements are satisfied. The flows are firstly classified into priority buckets based on real-time criticality factors. During the offline phase, the scheduler attempts to maintain the system load within a pre-specified safe threshold value by selecting an appropriate number of buckets. This offline selection procedure makes use of supervisory control theory of discrete event systems to synthesize an offline scheduler. Next, we have devised an online resource allocation strategy which runs on top of the offline policy and attempts to minimize the impact of the inherent variability in wireless networks. Simulation results show that the proposed scheduling framework is able to provide satisfactory QoS to all end users in most practical scenarios.

Development of a new coated electrode with low nickel content for welding ductile iron and its response to austempering

Coated Electrodes with small amounts of nickel were developed for welding ductile iron(DI) and conversion of the same into austempered ductile iron(ADI) after austempering. Among six electrodes, Trials 3 and 4 were selected for establishing crack-free weld deposits via preheating and post-weld heat treatment. Austenitization was performed at 900°C for 2 h and austempering at 300 or 350°C for three different holding times to observe the results of austempering with respect to the microstructure, hardness, and austempering kinetics of the samples. The microstructures of the weld deposits showed needle-like bainitic ferrite with small amounts of retained austenite when treated at 300°C and feathery bainitic ferrite with large amounts of retainedaustenite when treated at 350°C. The electrode labeled with Trial 3 revealed greater austenite contents than that labeled with Trial 4 when treated with a 2 h holding time regardless of the austempering temperature applied. The transformation rate of the bainitic ferrite of Trial 3 was relatively higher than that of Trial 4 and showed a lower rate constant, leading to a higher diffusion rate of carbon in austenite.

In the critical field of electrical grid maintenance,ensuring the integrity of power line insulators is a primary *** study introduces an innovative approach for monitoring the condition of insulators using aerial surveillance via drone-mounted *** proposed method is a composite deep learning framework that integrates the“You Only Look Once”version 3(YOLO3)model with deep convolutional generative adversarial networks(DCGAN)and super-resolution generative adversarial networks(SRGAN).The YOLO3 model excels in rapidly and accurately detecting insulators,a vital step in assessing their *** effectiveness in distinguishing insulators against complex backgrounds enables prompt detection of defects,essential for proactive *** rapid detection is enhanced by DCGAN’s precise classification and SRGAN’s image quality improvement,addressing challenges posed by low-resolution drone *** framework’s performance was evaluated using metrics such as sensitivity,specificity,accuracy,localization accuracy,damage sensitivity,and false alarm *** show that the SRGAN+DCGAN+YOLO3 model significantly outperforms existing methods,with a sensitivity of 98%,specificity of 94%,an overall accuracy of 95.6%,localization accuracy of 90%,damage sensitivity of 92%,and a reduced false alarm rate of 8%.This advanced hybrid approach not only improves the detection and classification of insulator conditions but also contributes substantially to the maintenance and health of power line insulators,thus ensuring the reliability of the electrical power grid.

Molecular spectroscopy is a branch of physics which deals with the interaction of electromagnetic radiation with *** the new theoretical approach,i.e.,Lie algebraic approach,we calculate the infrared spectra of phosphine in the range from 3000 cm^(-1) to 9500 cm^(-1) and nitrogen trifluoride in the range from 900 cm^(-1) to 4500 cm^(-1).The model Hamiltonian constructed seems to describe the P–H and N–F stretching modes accurately with only four numbers of *** present calculation not only predicts the higher overtones but also shows good agreement with the few observed data.

Dynamical fluctuation of target evaporated black particles is investigated in both forward and backward hemispheres within the framework of multi-dimensional factorial moment methodology using the brilliant concept of the Hurst exponent. We analyse the black particles emitted in ^32S-AgBr interactions at 200AGeV and it is evident that the dynamical fluctuation in the backward hemisphere is self-affine. In the forward hemisphere, dynamical fluctuation is self-similar but not self-affine. However, study indicates that the fluctuation in the forward hemisphere is more pronounced than that in backward hemisphere.

Seed Priming Improves Agronomic Trait Performance under Flooding and Non-flooding Conditions in Rice with QTL SUB1

Farmers in South East Asia are adopting rice crop establishment methods from transplanting to direct wet or dry seeding as it requires less labour and time and comparatively less energy than transplanting. In contrast to irrigated condition, in rainfed lowland, direct seeding is a common practice. Early flooding controls weeds but decreases seedling establishment in direct seeded rice. Anaerobic germination is an important trait to counteract damages caused by early flooding. Management options which can help in crop establishment and improve crop growth under flooding might remove the constraints related to direct seeding. The investigation was carried out with two near isogenic lines Swarna and Swarna- Sub1. Swarna-Subl is tolerant to submergence whereas Swarna is susceptible. Seed priming was done with water and 2% Jamun （Syzygium cumini） leaf extract, and it improved seedling establishment under flooding. Acceleration of growth occurred due to seed pretreatment, which resulted longer seedling and greater accumulation of biomass. Seed priming greatly hastened the activities of total amylase and alcohol dehydrogenase in Swarna-Subl than in Swarna. Swarna-Subl outperformed Swarna when the plants were cultivated under flooding. Weed biomass decreased significantly under flooding compared to non-flooding conditions. Seed priming had positive effects on yield and yield attributing parameters both under non-flooding and early flooding conditions.

The intermittent fluctuation of target evaporated particles is studied in both ring-like and jet-like events emitted in ^32 S-emulsion interactions at 200 A Ge V within the framework of multi-dimensional factorial moment methodology using the concept of the Hurst exponent. It is observed that the intermittent fluctuation in the ring-like event is self-similar, whereas in the jet-like event fluctuation is self-affine. However, study indicates that the strength of fluctuation in the ring-like events is much stronger than that in the jet-like events.
