Systematic experimental investigation on pressure build-up characteristics of water-jet injection into a molten LBE pool

In the scenario of a steam generator tube rupture accident in a lead-cooled fast reactor,secondary circuit subcooled water under high pressure is injected into an ordinary-pressure primary vessel,where a molten lead-based alloy(typically pure lead or lead-bismuth eutectic(LBE))is used as the *** clarify the pressure build-up characteristics under water-jet injection,this study conducted several experiments by injecting pressurized water into a molten LBE pool at Sun Yat-sen *** obtain a further understanding,several new experimental parameters were adopted,including the melt temperature,water subcooling,injection pressure,injection duration,and nozzle *** detailed analyses,it was found that the pressure and temperature during the water-melt interaction exhibited a consistent variation trend with our previous water-droplet injection mode LBE ***,the existence of a steam explosion was confirmed,which typically results in a much stronger pressure *** the non-explosion cases,increasing the injection pressure,melt-pool temperature,nozzle diameter,and water subcooling promoted pressure build-up in the melt ***,a limited enhancement effect was observed when increasing the injection duration,which may be owing to the continually rising pressure in the interaction vessel or the isolation effect of the generated steam *** of whether a steam explosion occurred,the calculated mechanical and kinetic energy conversion efficiencies of the melt were relatively small(not exceeding 4.1%and 0.7%,respectively).Moreover,the range of the conversion efficiency was similar to that of previous water-droplet experiments,although the upper limit of the jet mode was slightly lower.

Higher-order modes of the neutron diffusion/transport equation can be used to study the temporal behavior of nuclear reactors and can be applied in modal analysis, transient analysis, and online monitoring of the reactor core. Both the deterministic method and the Monte Carlo(MC) method can be used to solve the higher-order modes. However, MC method, compared to the deterministic method, faces challenges in terms of computational efficiency and α mode calculation stability, whereas the deterministic method encounters issues arising from homogenization-related geometric and energy spectra *** on the higher-order mode diffusion calculation code HARMOnY, we developed a new higher-order mode calculation code, HARMOnY2.0, which retains the functionality of computing λ and α higher-order modes from HARMOnY1.0, but enhances the ability to treat complex geometries and arbitrary energy spectra using the MC-deterministic hybrid two-step strategy. In HARMOnY2.0, the mesh homogenized multigroup constants were obtained using OpenMC in the first step,and higher-order modes were then calculated with the mesh homogenized core diffusion model using the implicitly restarted Arnoldi method(IRAM), which was also adopted in the HARMOnY1.0 code. In addition, to improve the calculation efficiency, particularly in large higher-order modes, event-driven parallelization/domain decomposition methods are embedded in the HARMOnY2.0 code to accelerate the inner iteration of λ∕α mode using OpenMP. Furthermore, the higher-order modes of complex geometric models, such as Hoogenboom and ATR reactors for λ mode and the MUSE-4 experiment facility for the prompt α mode, were computed using diffusion theory.

Impact of Spinal Manipulative Therapy on Brain Function and Pain Alleviation in Lumbar Disc Herniation:A Resting-State fMRI Study

Objective:To elucidate how spinal manipulative therapy(SMT)exerts its analgesic effects through regulating brain function in lumbar disc herniation(LDH)patients by utilizing resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging(rs-f MRI).Methods:From September 2021 to September 2023,we enrolled LDH patients(LDH group,n=31)and age-and sex-matched healthy controls(HCs,n=28).LDH group underwent rs-f MRI at 2 distinct time points(TPs):prior to the initiation of SMT(TP1)and subsequent to the completion of the SMT sessions(TP2).SMT was administered once every other day for 30 min per session,totally 14 treatment sessions over a span of 4 *** did not receive SMT treatment and underwent only one f MRI ***,participants in LDH group completed clinical questionnaires on pain using the Visual Analog Scale(VAS)and the Japanese Orthopedic Association(JOA)score,whereas HCs did not undergo clinical scale *** effects on the brain were jointly characterized using the amplitude of low-frequency fluctuations(ALFF)and regional homogeneity(Re Ho).Correlation analyses were conducted between specific brain regions and clinical ***:Following SMT treatment,pain symptoms in LDH patients were notably alleviated and accompanied by evident activation of effects in the *** comparison to TP1,TP2 exhibited the most significant increase in ALFF values for Temporal_Sup_R and the most notable decrease in ALFF values for Paracentral_Lobule_L(voxelwise P30;FDR correction).Additionally,the most substantial enhancement in Re Ho values was observed for the Cuneus_R,while the most prominent reduction was noted for the Olfactory_R(voxelwise P30;FDR correction).Moreover,a comparative analysis revealed that,in contrast to HCs,LDH patients at TP1 exhibited the most significant increase in ALFF values for Temporal_Pole_Sup_L and the most notable decrease in ALFF values for Frontal_Mid_L(voxelwise P30;FDR correction).Fur

High strength steels exhibit superior mechanical properties due to the unique microstructure,which successfully solves the drawback of the inevitable strength-toughness trade-off that occurs in traditional *** we investigated the effect of matrix and precipitates on mechanical properties of Cr-ni-Mo-V/nb steel after water quenching and tempering(150-500℃).The results showed that the microstructure of the present steel is noticeably tuned by changing the tempering *** excellent combination of strength(a yield strength of 1308 MPa with a total elongation of 8.2%)and toughness(Charpy V-notch impact toughness of 40.5 J/cm^(2))is obtained upon tempering at 200℃.This is attributed to the lath martensite containing high dislocation density,the martensite-twin substructure,and the strengthening effects of the precipitated needle-likeε-carbides and spherical VC *** acicularε-carbides are replaced by the rod-shaped Fe_(3)C at the tempering temperature of 350℃,resulting in the remarkable deterioration in strength,hardness,and *** carbides formed at a tempering temperature of 500℃ are beneficial to the enhancement of the elongation and toughness,but the strength decreases due to the matrix softening caused by the recovery of dislocation.

Insights into microscopic oil occurrence characteristics in shales from the Paleogene Funing Formation in Subei Basin, China

The microscopic occurrence characteristics primarily constrain the enrichment and mobility of shale *** study collected the lacustrine shales from the Palaeogene Funing Formation in the Gaoyou Sag, Subei Basin. Conventional and multistage Rock-Eval, scanning electron microscopy, and nuclear magnetic resonance(nMR) T1-T2were performed to analyze the contents and occurrence characteristics of shale oil. Low-temperature nitrogen adsorption-desorption(LTnA/D) experiments were conducted on the shales before and after extraction. The relationships between shale oil occurrence with organic matter and pore structures were then discussed. Predominantly, the shale oil in the Funing Formation is found within fractures, with secondary occurrences in interparticle pores linked to brittle minerals and sizeable intraparticle pores associated with clay minerals. The selected shales can be categorized into two types based on the nitrogen isotherms. Type A shales are characterized by high contents of felsic and calcareous minerals but low clay minerals, with larger TOC and shale oil values. Conversely, Type B shales are marked by abundant clay minerals but diminished TOC and shale oil contents. The lower BET specific surface area(SSA), larger average pore diameter, and simpler pore surfaces and pore structures lead to the Type A shales being more conducive to shale oil enrichment and mobility. Shale oil content is predominantly governed by the abundance of organic matter, while an overabundance of organic matter typically equates to a reduced ratio of free oil and diminished fluidity. The BET SSA, volumes of pores less than 25 and 100 nm at extracted state all correlate negatively with total and adsorbed oil contents but display no correlation with free oil, while they have positive relationships with capillary-bound ***, pore water is mainly saturated in micropores(nm) and minipores(25-100 nm), as well as adsorbed oil, while free oil, i.e., bound and movable
