BACKGROUND Surgical intervention involving the pancreas can lead to impaired glucose tolerance and other types of endocrine *** scope of pancreatectomy and whether it includes the ventral pancreas are the key factors in the development of postoperative *** ventral and dorsal pancreases are almost separated in Suncus murinus(***).AiM To investigate the effects of different extents of pancreatic resection on endocrine function in *** Eight-week-old male *** shrews were randomly divided into three experimental groups according to different pancreatic resection ranges as follows:ventral pancreatectomy(VPx)group;partial pancreatectomy(PPx)group;subtotal pancreatectomy(SPx)group;and a sham-operated *** serum insulin,glucagon-like peptide-1(GLP-1),pancreatic polypeptide(PP),and somatostatin(SST)levels,as well as food intake,weight,blood glucose,and glucose tolerance were regularly measured for each *** *** treated with PPx and SPx suffered from varying degrees of impaired glucose tolerance,but only a small proportion of the SPx group developed *** *** in the SPx group showed a significant decrease in food intake accompanied by severe weight loss,as well as a significant increase in postprandial serum GLP-1 *** serum PP levels decreased in both the VPx and PPx groups,but not in the SPx *** serum SST levels decreased in both VPx and PPx groups,but the decrease was *** Severe weight loss after pancreatectomy may be related to loss of appetite caused by compensatory elevation of *** and GLP-1 may play a role in resisting blood glucose imbalance.

Osteoarthritis(OA)is an aging-associated disease characterized by joint stiffness pain and destroyed articular *** treatments for OA are limited to alleviating various OA *** is a lack of drugs available in clinical practice that can truly repair cartilage ***,we developed the chondroitin sulfate analog CS-semi5,semi-synthesized from chondroitin sulfate *** vivo,CS-semi5 alleviated inflammation,provided analgesic effects,and protected cartilage in the modified Hulth OA rat model and papain-induced OA rat model.A bioinformatics analysis was performed on samples from OA patients and an exosome analysis on papain-induced OA rats,revealing miR-122-5p as the key regulator associated with CS-semi5 in OA *** prediction revealed that miR-122-5p acted on the 30-untranslated region of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase,which was related to MMP13 *** in vitro experiments revealed that CS-semi5 effectively reduced cartilage degeneration and maintained matrix homeostasis by inhibiting matrix breakdown through the miR-122-5p/p38/MMP13 axis,which was further validated in the articular cartilage of OA *** is the first study to investigate the semi-synthesized chondroitin sulfate CS-semi5,revealing its cartilageprotecting,anti-inflammatory,and analgesic properties that show promising therapeutic effects in OA via the miR-122-5p/p38/MMP13 pathway.

We study theoretically and experimentally the acoustic Purcell effect induced by quasi-bound states in the continuum(quasiBiCs).A theoretical framework describing the acoustic Purcell effect of a resonant system is developed based on the system’s radiative and dissipative factors,which reveals the critical emission condition for achieving optimum Purcell *** show that the quasiBiCs contribute to highly confined acoustic field and bring about greatly enhanced acoustic emission,leading to strong Purcell *** concept is demonstrated via two coupled resonators supporting a Friedrich-Wintgen quasiBiC,and the theoretical results are validated by the experiments observing emission enhancement of the sound source by nearly two orders of *** work bridges the gap between the acoustic Purcell effect and acoustic BiCs essential for enhanced wave-matter interaction and acoustic emission,which may contribute to the research of high-intensity sound sources,high-quality-factor acoustic devices and nonlinear acoustics.

Sciadopitysin exerts anticancer effects on HepG2 hepatocellular carcinoma cells by regulating reactive oxygen species-mediated signaling pathways

The intricate correlation between multiple degrees of freedom and physical properties is a fascinating area in solid state chemistry and condensed matter ***,we report a quantum-magnetic system BaNi_(2)V_(2)O_(8)(BNVO),in which the spin correlation was modulated by unusual oxidation state,leading to different magnetic *** BNVO was modified with topochemical reduction(TR)to yield TR-BNVO with partially reduced valance state of Ni^(+)in the two-dimensional NiO_(6)-honeycomb ***,the antiferromagnetic order is suppressed by the introduction of locally interposed Ni^(+)and oxygen vacancies,resulting in a ferromagnetic ground state with the transition temperature up to 710 K.A positive magnetoresistance(7.5%)was observed in the TR-BNVO at 40 K under 7 *** findings show that topological reduction is a powerful approach to engineer low-dimensional materials and accelerate the discovery of new quantum magnetism.

Ultrahigh-throughput screening of antagonistic bacteria against Erwinia carotovora Ecc15 based on droplet microfluidics

Soft rot is a destructive disease that inflicts significant losses on agricultural production and the economy post-harvest. Biocontrol strategies based on antagonistic microorganisms have a broad application prospect to fight against plant pathogens. This study utilized fluorescence-activated droplet sorting （FADS） technology as an alternative to traditional plate culture methods to isolate microorganisms with antagonistic activity against the soft rot pathogen Erwinia carotovora Ecc15. initially， the culture performance of the FADS platform was evaluated by analyzing bacterial diversity in droplet culture samples and agar plate culture samples， our data showed that droplet culture exhibited higher species richness and diversity than plate culture， and more than 95% of the OTUs in the droplet samples belonged to the rare biosphere. Additionally， we developed a GFP-Ecc15-based FADS screening system， which achieved an enrichment ratio of up to 148. Using this system， we successfully screened 32 antagonistic bacteria from rhizosphere soil sample of healthy konjac plants， and some may be novel microbial resources， including the genera Lelliottia， Buttiauxella and Leclercia. Notably， strain D-62 exhibited the strongest antibacterial ability against Ecc15， with an inhibition zone diameter of （20.86 ± 1.56） mm. in vivo experiments conducted on the corms of Amorphophallus konjac demonstrated that strain D-62 could effectively reduce the infection ability of Ecc15 to the corms， indicating that strain D-62 has the potential to be developed as a biocontrol agent. Our findings suggested that the FADS screening system showed a screening efficiency approximately 3 × 103times higher than plate screening system， while significantly reducing costs of infrastructure， labor and consumables， it provides theoretical guidance for the screening of other plant pathogen biocontrol bacteria.

Podostemaceae(riverweed family),one of the largest aquatic plant families in the world,comprises about 350 species in 51 genera placed in three subfamilies,Podostemoideae,Weddellinoideae,and Tristichoideae(Koi et al.,2022).Most Podostemaceae genera(~38)are monotypic or oligotypic,with a high level of endemism(Koi et al.,2018,2022).Members of Podostemaceae adhere to rocks in fast-flowing rivers,streams,or waterfalls in the subtropics and tropics(Koi et al.,2018).As an adaptation to fastrunning currents,the morphological structure of river-weeds tends to be extremely reduced,including a loss or reduction of primary shoots or roots(Koi and Kato,2007).The vegetative mass of these plants resembles lichens or bryophytes,and are thus known commonly as“dream bryophytes”(Philbrick and Retana,1998).Podostemaceae plants flower when the water level drops during the dry *** recent years,anthropogenic factors and climate change have severely affected river weed habitats,decreasing populations of these plants.
