Distribution of Traditional Chinese Medicine syndromes in diabetic kidney disease chronic kidney disease 1-5: a correlation study

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the distribution of Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) syndromes in patients with diabetic kidney disease(DKD) and its related factors.METHODS: We enrolled 435 patients with DKD, who were not undergoing dialysis, admitted to the Department of Nephrology, First Medical Center, Chinese PLA General Hospital from April 2020 to August 2021.Analysis of their TCM syndromes and related factors was carried out.RESULTS: The 435 patients included 109, 117, 86, and 123 chronic kidney disease(CKD) 1-2, CKD3, CKD4, and CKD5 cases, respectively. With the progression of CKD1-5, the proportion of Yin deficiency and dry heat syndrome,and that of Qi and Yin deficiency syndrome showed a downward trend, whereas the proportion of spleen-kidney Yang deficiency, blood deficiency, blood stasis, water stagnation, and phlegm turbidity syndromes showed an upward trend; the differences were statistically significant(P < 0.05). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that Yin deficiency and dry heat syndrome was positively correlated with hemoglobin [odds ratio(OR) =1.022, P = 0.005], albumin(OR = 1.058, P = 0.006), and estimated glomerular filtration rate(eGFR)(OR = 1.020,P < 0.001) but negatively correlated with male sex(OR =0.277, P = 0.004). Qi and Yin deficiency syndrome was positively correlated with albumin(OR = 1.056, P < 0.001)and eGFR(OR = 1.008, P = 0.022) but negatively correlated with age(OR = 0.977, P = 0.023). Liver-kidney Yin deficiency syndrome was positively correlated with age(OR = 1.028, P = 0.021) and glycosylated hemoglobin(OR = 1.223, P = 0.007) but negatively correlated with total cholesterol(OR = 0.792, P = 0.006).Spleen-kidney Yang deficiency syndrome was negatively correlated with hemoglobin(OR = 0.977, P < 0.001),albumin(OR = 0.891, P < 0.001), and eGFR(OR = 0.978,P < 0.001) but positively correlated with high density lipoprotein(OR = 3.376, P = 0.001). Mirizzi syndrome is a serious complication of gallstone disease.It is caused by the impacted stones in the gallbladder neck or cystic duct.One of the features of Mirizzi syndrome is severe inflammation or dense fibrosis at the Calot’s triangle.In our clinical practice,bile duct,branches of right hepatic artery and right portal vein clinging to gallbladder infundibulum are often observed due to gallbladder infundibulum adhered to right hepatic hilum.The intraoperative damage of branches of right hepatic artery occurs more easily than that of bile duct,all of which are hidden pitfalls for surgeons.Magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography(MRCP)and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP)are the preferable tools for the diagnosis of Mirizzi syndrome.Anterograde cholecystectomy in Mirizzi syndrome is easy to damage branches of right hepatic artery and bile duct due to gallbladder infundibulum adhered to right hepatic hilum.Subtotal cholecystectomy is an easy,safe and definitive approach to Mirizzi syndrome.When combined with the application of ERCP,a laparoscopic management of Mirizzi syndrome by well-trained surgeons is feasible and safe.The objective of this review was to highlight its existing problems:(1)low preoperative diagnostic rate,(2)easy to damage bile duct and branches of right hepatic artery,and(3)high concomitant gallbladder carcinoma.Meanwhile,the review aimed to discuss the possible therapeutic strategies:(1)to enhance its preoperative recognition by imaging findings,and(2)to avoid potential pitfalls during surgery.

An anti-saturation fault-tolerant adaptive torsional vibration control method with fixed-time prescribed performance for the rolling mill main drive system(RMMDS)was investigated,which is affected by control input saturation,actuator faults,sensor measurement errors,and parameter perturbations.First,we gave a continuously differentiable saturation function to approximate the control input saturation characteristic of the RMMDS,translating the saturation characteristic into the matched uncertainty and unknown time-varying gain in the system.Then,an RMMDS mathematical model with unmatched uncertainty and unknown time-varying gain was developed,taking into account the presence of control input saturation,actuator faults,sensor measurement errors,and parameter perturbations.Based on the established mathematical model,an error transformation model of the roll speed tracking was constructed by the equivalent error transformation method.According to the error transformation model,a barrier Lyapunov function and a novel adaptive controller were studied to ensure that the roll speed tracking error always evolves inside a fixed-time asymmetric constraint.Finally,numerical simulations were performed in Matlab/Simulink to verify the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed control method in suppressing the RMMDS torsional vibration.

The study on the uniformity of electrical performance of large wafer-scale Hf0.5Zr0.5O2（HZO） ferroelectric capacitors is still lacking yet now. In this work, TiN/HZO/TiN metal-ferroelectric-metal（MFM） devices on 12-inch silicon wafers have been fabricated by thermal atomic layer deposition. The correlation of thickness uniformity with device-to-device variation of electrical properties and yield of the 12-inch MFM system was investigated. It was found that the uniformity of ferroelectric properties is closely related to the variation of HZO thickness of the MFM system, the concentration of oxygen vacancies in the micro-region of the HZO film, and the ferroelectric phase micro-distribution on 12-inch Si wafer. This work provides some important information for the performance optimization of HfO2-based ferroelectric random access memories.

High-energy-density lithium metal batteries are the next-generation battery systems of choice,and replacing the flammable liquid electrolyte with a polymer solid-state electrolyte is a prominent conduct towards realizing the goal of high-safety and high-specific-energy devices.Unfortunately,the inherent intractable problems of poor solid-solid contacts between the electrode/electrolyte and the growth of Li dendrites hinder their practical applications.The in-situ solidification has demonstrated a variety of advantages in the application of polymer electrolytes and artificial interphase,including the design of integrated polymer electrolytes and asymmetric polymer electrolytes to enhance the compatibility of solid–solid contact and compatibility between various electrolytes,and the construction of artificial interphase between the Li anode and cathode to suppress the formation of Li dendrites and to enhance the high-voltage stability of polymer electrolytes.This review firstly elaborates the history of in-situ solidification for solid-state batteries,and then focuses on the synthetic methods of solidified electrolytes.Furthermore,the recent progress of in-situ solidification technology from both the design of polymer electrolytes and the construction of artificial interphase is summarized,and the importance of in-situ solidification technology in enhancing safety is emphasized.Finally,prospects,emerging challenges,and practical applications of in-situ solidification are envisioned.

Extensive identification of landslide boundaries using remote sensing images and deep learning method

The frequent occurrence of extreme weather events has rendered numerous landslides to a global natural disaster issue.It is crucial to rapidly and accurately determine the boundaries of landslides for geohazards evaluation and emergency response.Therefore,the Skip Connection DeepLab neural network(SCDnn),a deep learning model based on 770 optical remote sensing images of landslide,is proposed to improve the accuracy of landslide boundary detection.The SCDnn model is optimized for the over-segmentation issue which occurs in conventional deep learning models when there is a significant degree of similarity between topographical geomorphic features.SCDnn exhibits notable improvements in landslide feature extraction and semantic segmentation by combining an enhanced Atrous Spatial Pyramid Convolutional Block(ASPC)with a coding structure that reduces model complexity.The experimental results demonstrate that SCDnn can identify landslide boundaries in 119 images with MIoU values between 0.8and 0.9;while 52 images with MIoU values exceeding 0.9,which exceeds the identification accuracy of existing techniques.This work can offer a novel technique for the automatic extensive identification of landslide boundaries in remote sensing images in addition to establishing the groundwork for future inve stigations and applications in related domains.

Observation of gapless corner modes of photonic crystal slabs in synthetic translation dimensions

Second-order topological photonic crystals support localized corner modes that deviate from the conventional bulk-edge correspondence.However,the frequency shift of corner modes spanning the photonic band gap has not been experimentally reported.Here,we observe the gapless corner modes of photonic crystal slabs within a parameter space by considering translation as an additional synthetic dimension.These corner modes,protected by topological pumping in synthetic translation dimensions,are found to exist independently of the specific corner configuration.The gapless corner modes are experimentally imaged via the near-field scanning measurement and validated numerically by full-wave simulations.We propose a topological rainbow with gradient translation,demonstrating the ability to extract and separate specific frequency components of light into different spatial locations.Our work contributes to the advancement of topological photonics and provides valuable insights into the exploration of gapless corner modes in synthetic dimensions.

Ligand-induced receptor dimerization or oligomerization is a widespread mechanism for ensuring communication specificity,safeguarding receptor activation,and facilitating amplification of signal transduction across the cellular membrane.However,cell-surface antigeninduced multimerization(dubbed AIM herein)has not yet been consciously leveraged in chimeric antigen receptor(CAR)engineering for enriching T cell-based therapies.We co-developed ciltacabtagene autoleucel(cilta-cel),whose CAR incorporates two B-cell maturation antigen(BCMA)-targeted nanobodies in tandem,for treating multiple myeloma.Here we elucidated a structural and functional model in which BCMA-induced cilta-cel CAR multimerization amplifies myeloma-targeted T cell-mediated cytotoxicity.Crystallographic analysis of BCMA–nanobody complexes revealed atomic details of antigen–antibody hetero-multimerization whilst analytical ultracentrifugation and small-angle X-ray scattering characterized interdependent BCMA apposition and CAR juxtaposition in solution.BCMA-induced nanobody CAR multimerization enhanced cytotoxicity,alongside elevated immune synapse formation and cytotoxicity-mediating cytokine release,towards myeloma-derived cells.Our results provide a framework for contemplating the AIM approach in designing next-generation CARs.

With the emergence of ChatGPT and its rapid iteration speed,artificial intelligence(AI)has undoubtedly become the driving force behind a new wave of technological revolution.After more than half a century of development,AI has become akin to the steam engine of the Industrial Revolution,propelling humanity into the era of intelligence.The global industrial chain has also recognized that AI technology will spearhead a new wave of industrial transformation and development.Machine learning(ML),driven by data,abstracts real-life problems into mathematical problems and solves them using computers.It is currently the mainstream method for addressing many AI problems.Perovskite solar cells(PSCs)are currently the focus of researchers around the world due to their high efficiency,low cost,and simple manufacturing process.They are considered the most promising third-generation solar cell for commercialization.In 2011,the United States proposed the Materials Genome Initiative(MGI).The main idea is to utilize the“trinity”approach of computing,data,and experiments to transform the conventional“trial and error”model of materials research and development,which relies heavily on experience and experimentation,in order to enhance the quality,speed of discovery,development,production,and application of new materials.Driven by the MGI,research on the combination of ML with great application potential and rapidly developing PSC(ML&PSC)emerged(Figure 1).
