Biological porous carbon encapsulated polyethylene glycol-based phase change composites for integrated electromagnetic interference shielding and thermal management capabilities

The development of functional composites with excellent thermal management capabilities and electro-magnetic interference(EMI)shielding has become extremely urgent for keeping up with the continuous improvement of the operating speed and efficiency for electronic equipment.In this study,the biolog-ical wood-derived porous carbon(WPC)was determined as the supporting material to encapsulating polyethylene glycol(PEG),and a series of WPC/PEG/Fe_(3)O_(4) phase change composites(PCCs)with excel-lent shape stability,EMI shielding and thermal management capabilities were prepared via a simple vac-uum impregnation method.The Fe_(3)O_(4) magnetic particles modified PCCs have greatly improved the EMI shielding effectiveness(SE).The EMI SE of WP-4(7.5 wt.% Fe_(3)O_(4) in PEG)can be up to 55.08 dB between 8.2−12.4 GHz,however,the WP-0 without Fe_(3)O_(4) addition is only 40.08 dB.Meanwhile,the absorption ratio of electromagnetic waves(EMW)has also increased from 75.02%(WP-0)to 85.56%(WP-4),which effectively prevents secondary pollution.In addition,after wrapping a thin layer of polydimethylsiloxane resin(PDMS),the obtained WP-4 can maintain a high heat storage capacity(109.52 J/g)and good wa-ter stability.In short,the prepared WPC/PEG/Fe_(3)O_(4) PCCs have great potential application value in the thermal management and electromagnetic shielding requirements for electronic devices.

With the increasing popularity of mobile devices and the wide adoption of mobile Apps,an increasing concern of privacy issues is raised.Privacy policy is identified as a proper medium to indicate the legal terms,such as the general data protection regulation(GDPR),and to bind legal agreement between service providers and users.However,privacy policies are usually long and vague for end users to read and understand.It is thus important to be able to automatically analyze the document structures of privacy policies to assist user understanding.In this work we create a manually labelled corpus containing 231 privacy policies(of more than 566,000 words and 7,748 annotated paragraphs).We benchmark our data corpus with 3 document classification models and achieve more than 82%on F1-score.

Study of the geomagnetic field's regional gradients in Chinese continent using three-dimensional surface Spline model

We combined domestic ground-based and satellite magnetic measurements to create a regional three-dimensional surface Spline(3DSS)gradient model of the main geomagnetic field over the Chinese continent.To improve the precision of the model,we considered the data gap between the ground and satellite data.We compared and analyzed the results of the Taylor polynomial,surface Spline,and CHAOS-6(the CHAMP,?rsted and SAC-C model of Earth’s magnetic field)gradient models.Results showed that the gradients in the south-north and east-west directions of the four models were consistent.The 3DSS model was able to express not only gradients at different altitudes,but also average gradients inside the research area.The two Spline models were able to capture more information on gradient anomalies than were the fitted models.Strong local anomalies were observed in northern Xinjiang,Beijing,and the junction area between Jiangsu and Zhejiang,and the total intensity F decreased whereas the altitude increased.The gradient decreased by 21.69%in the south-north direction and increased by 11.78%in the east-west direction.In addition,the altitude gradient turned from negative to positive while the altitude increased.The Spline model and the two fitted models differed mainly in the field sources they expressed and the modeling theory.

The study of geomagnetic jerk from 2010 to 2021 based on hourly mean data from global geomagnetic observatories

The secular variation in the global geomagnetic field was analyzed in terms of the annual differences in monthly means by using the hourly mean data from 18 foreign(outside China)observatories of the World Data Center(WDC)for Geomagnetism from January 2010 to January 2020 as well as 9 observatories in the Geomagnetic Network of China from January 2015 to April 2021.In addition,according to the correlation of noisy components from the observatories,a covariance matrix was constructed based on residuals between observations and the CHAOS-7.4 model to remove external contamination.Through a comparison before and after denoising,we found that the overall average standard deviations were reduced by 29.97%in China and by 41.4%outside China.Results showed the correlation coefficient between external noise(mainly the magnetosphere ring current)and the Dst index was 0.82,and the correlation coefficient between external noise and the Ring Current(RC)index reached 0.94.A geomagnetic jerk was globally discovered around 2018.0 on the geomagnetic eastward component Y.The jerk timing in China was around 2020.0,and the earliest one was in2018.75,whereas the timing outside China was around 2018.0,and the earliest one was in 2017.67.This 2-year lag may have been caused by the higher electrical conductivity of the deep mantle.After more data were added,this jerk event was found to occur in an orderly manner in the northern hemisphere as the longitude increased and the intensity gradually increased as well.The variations in location of the jerk center were analyzed according to the CHAOS-7.4 model.Results revealed six extreme points distributed nearby the equator.The strongest was near the equator,at 170°E,and the strength gradually decreased as it extended to the northern and southern hemispheres.Another extreme point with the opposite sign was located at the equator,at 20°W,in the south-central part of the Atlantic,and the strength gradually decreased as it extended into Europe.The covariance matrix method can be used to analyze d

Eosinophilic gastroenteritis(EGE)is a gastrointestinal disorder of unclear etiology that is characterized by eosinophilic infiltration of the stomach and small intestine,and consists of mucosal,muscular,and serosal subtypes.Eosinophilic infiltration of the gastrointestinal tract is a fundamental histopathological characteristic of EGE and is driven by several T-helper type 2(Th2)-dependent cytokines and induced by food allergy.Due to the lack of a diagnostic gold standard,EGE has a high rate of delayed diagnosis or misdiagnosis.However,several new diagnostic strategies have been developed,such as novel genetic biomarkers and imaging tests.Although dietary therapy and corticosteroids remain the common choices for EGE treatment,recent decades have seen the emergence of novel treatment alternatives,such as biologics that target particular molecules involved in the pathogenic process.Preliminary investigations and clinical trials have demonstrated the efficacy of biologics and provided additional insights for the era of refractory or corticosteroid-dependent EGE biologics.

Residual Feature Attentional Fusion Network for Lightweight Chest CT Image Super-Resolution

The diagnosis of COVID-19 requires chest computed tomography(CT).High-resolution CT images can provide more diagnostic information to help doctors better diagnose the disease,so it is of clinical importance to study super-resolution(SR)algorithms applied to CT images to improve the reso-lution of CT images.However,most of the existing SR algorithms are studied based on natural images,which are not suitable for medical images;and most of these algorithms improve the reconstruction quality by increasing the network depth,which is not suitable for machines with limited resources.To alleviate these issues,we propose a residual feature attentional fusion network for lightweight chest CT image super-resolution(RFAFN).Specifically,we design a contextual feature extraction block(CFEB)that can extract CT image features more efficiently and accurately than ordinary residual blocks.In addition,we propose a feature-weighted cascading strategy(FWCS)based on attentional feature fusion blocks(AFFB)to utilize the high-frequency detail information extracted by CFEB as much as possible via selectively fusing adjacent level feature information.Finally,we suggest a global hierarchical feature fusion strategy(GHFFS),which can utilize the hierarchical features more effectively than dense concatenation by progressively aggregating the feature information at various levels.Numerous experiments show that our method performs better than most of the state-of-the-art(SOTA)methods on the COVID-19 chest CT dataset.In detail,the peak signal-to-noise ratio(PSNR)is 0.11 dB and 0.47 dB higher on CTtest1 and CTtest2 at×3 SR compared to the suboptimal method,but the number of parameters and multi-adds are reduced by 22K and 0.43G,respectively.Our method can better recover chest CT image quality with fewer computational resources and effectively assist in COVID-19.

Effects of long-term nitrogen addition on theδ^(15)N andδ^(13)C of Larix gmelinii and soil in a boreal forest

Background:Natural abundance of carbon(C)and nitrogen(N)stable isotope ratios(δ^(13)C andδ^(15)N)has been used to indicate the state and cycle of ecosystem C and N.However,it is still unclear how C and N cycle of boreal forests respond to the N deposition.Results:We conducted an 8-year continuous N addition field experiment in a Larix gmelinii forest in Greater Khingan Mountains,Northeast China.Four N treatments(0,25,50,75 kg N ha^(−1)year^(−1))were built.The effects of N addition on theδ^(13)C andδ^(15)N of needle,branch,bark,and fine root of Larix gmelinii and soil were studied.The result of the balance between the N input and output flux showed that N addition significantly increased theδ^(15)N in each organ of Larix gmelinii,but did not change theδ^(15)N of soil.We also found that the N absorption by needles of Larix gmelinii could increase the needle photosynthesis rate andδ^(13)C by increasing carboxylation,but N addition had no significant effect on theδ^(13)C of soil and other organs.In addition,both the soilδ^(15)N andδ^(13)C increased with the soil depth.Conclusions:Long-term N addition may lead to more open C and N cycles and further affect plant nutrient acquisition strategies in boreal forest ecosystems.

Application of silica-alumina as hydrothermally stable supports for Pt catalysts for acid-assisted soot oxidation

In this work,silica-alumina mixed oxides with different SiO_(2)contents(5%and 30%)were adopted as acidic supports for platinum catalysts for soot oxidation.The obtained catalysts were hydrothermally aged in 10%H_(2)0/air at 750℃for 20 h.The catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),N_(2)adsorption,inductively coupled plasma(ICP),CO chemisorption,NH3temperature-programmed desorption(TPD),infrared(IR)spectroscopy of CO adsorption,temperature-programmed oxidation(TPO)of NO,and TPD of NO_(x).The surface acidity of catalyst was positive correlated with the content of SiO_(2),which kept platinum in metallic and partially oxidized states in an oxidizing atmosphere.Compared with sulfation treatment on the alumina support,the application of SiO_(2)-Al_(2)O_(3)mixed oxides does not result in the coverage of Pt active sites and the prepared catalysts exhibit excellent activity for NO oxidation.They promote NOxpreferential adsorption on soot and decomposition of surface oxygenated compounds(SOCs)as the sulfated Pt/Al_(2)O_(3)catalyst does.

A bioactive nanocomposite sponge for simultaneous hemostasis and antimicrobial therapy

Uncontrollable bleeding and bacterial infections are the major reasons for the high mortality of post-traumatic.In this study,a composite hemostatic chitosan sponge CaO_(2)@SiO_(2)/CS was prepared by combining a novel core-shell inorganic nano hemostatic CaO_(2)@SiO_(2)nanoparticles with carboxylated chitosan,which presents a multi-layered structure with a rough and hydrophilic surface for rapid absorption of blood.When the CaO_(2)@SiO_(2)nanoparticles in the CaO_(2)@SiO_(2)/CS come into contact with blood,the silanol group on its surface and the released H_(2)O_(2)and Ca2+can recruit and activate platelets,while generating fibrin clots and activating the endo-exogenous coagulation cascade reaction to achieve rapid clotting.The H_(2)O_(2)released from CaO_(2)@SiO_(2)shows the antimicrobial capacity and stimulates the production of tissue factors by endothelial cells.Meanwhile,the silica coating reduces the cytotoxicity of bare CaO_(2),thus reducing the risk of secondary bleeding at the site of vascular injury.CaO_(2)@SiO_(2)/CS(48 s)showed a 1.83-and 2.52-fold reduction in hemostasis time compared to commercial gelfoam and CS in a femoral artery hemorrhage model.This study illustrates the hemostatic mechanism of CaO_(2)@SiO_(2)and provides a reference for the development of clinical biomedical inorganic hemostatic materials.
