Non-bonding modulations between single atomic cerium and monodispersed selenium sites towards efficient oxygen reduction

Currently,dual atomic catalysts(DACs)with neighboring active sites for oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)still meet lots of challenges in the synthesis,especially the construction of atomic pairs of elements from different blocks of the periodic table.Herein,a“rare earth(Ce)-metalloid(Se)”non-bonding heteronuclear diatomic electrocatalyst has been constructed for ORR by rational coordination and carbon support defect engineering.Encouraging,the optimized Ce-Se diatomic catalysts(Ce-Se DAs/NC)displayed a half-wave potential of 0.886 V vs.reversible hydrogen electrode(RHE)and excellent stability,which surpass those of separate Ce or Se single atoms and most single/dual atomic catalysts ever reported.In addition,a primary zinc-air battery constructed using Ce-Se DAs/NC delivers a higher peak power density(209.2 mW·cm^(−2))and specific capacity(786.4 mAh·gZn^(−1))than state-of-the-art noble metal catalysts Pt/C.Theoretical calculations reveal that the Ce-Se DAs/NC has improved the electroactivity of the Ce-N_(4)region due to the electron transfer towards the nearby Se specific activity(SA)sites.Meanwhile,the more electron-rich Se sites promote the adsorptions of key intermediates,which results in the optimal performances of ORR on Ce-Se DAs/NC.This work provides new perspectives on electronic structure modulations via non-bonded long-range coordination micro-environment engineering in DACs for efficient electrocatalysis.

Global epidemiology of mental disorder in atrial fibrillation between 1998-2021:A systematic review and meta-analysis

BACKGROUND As the burden of mental disorders among patients with atrial fibrillation(AF)increases,researchers are beginning to pay close attention to the risk and prevalence of these comorbidities.Although studies have independently analyzed the risk of comorbidity with depression and anxiety in patients with AF,no study has systematically focused on the global epidemiology of these two mental disorders.AIM To explore the prevalence of depression and anxiety in patients with AF.METHODS Five databases were searched from their date of establishment until January 2023.Observational studies reporting the comorbidity of AF with depression and anxiety,were included in this study.Basic information,such as the first author/publication year,study year,study type,and prevalence of depression and anxiety,were extracted.STATA SE 15.1 was used to analyze the data.Subgroup,meta-regression,and sensitivity analyses were performed to estimate study heterogeneity.RESULTS After a thorough search,26 studies were identified and included in this metaanalysis.The prevalence rates of depression and anxiety in adults with AF were 24.3%and 14.5%,respectively.Among adult males with AF,the prevalence was 11.7%and 8.7%,respectively,whereas in females it was 19.8%and 10.1%,respectively.In older adults with AF,the prevalence rates of depression and anxiety were 40.3%and 33.6%,respectively.The highest regional prevalence of depression and anxiety was observed in European(30.2%)and North American(19.8%)patients with AF.CONCLUSION In this study,we found that the prevalence of depression and anxiety among patients with AF varies with sex,region,and evaluation scales,suggesting the need for psychological interventions for patients with AF in clinical practice.

Associative cultural landscape approach to interpreting traditional ecological wisdom:A case of Inuit habitat

Global climate change and the accelerated melting of glaciers have raised concerns about the ability to manage ice-snow environments.Historically,human ancestors have mastered the ecological wisdom of working with ice-snow environments,but the phenomenon has not yet been articulated in cultural landscape methodologies that emphasize“nature-culture relevance”.The challenging living environment often compels indigenous people to form a strong bond with their surroundings,leading to the creation of long-term ecological wisdom through synergistic relationships with the environment.This ecological environment is conceptualized as a cognitive space in the form of the landscape,with which the aboriginal community norms and individual spirits continually interact.Such interactions generate numerous non-material cultural evidences,such as culture,art,religion,and other ideological aspects of the nation.These evidences symbolize the intellectual outcome of the relationship between humans and the landscape,and they create the“spiritual relevance”through personification and contextualization.The aim of the study is to explore the traditional ecological wisdom of the Inuit people who live in the harsh Arctic,and analyze the Inuit’s interaction with the landscape through the lens of“associative cultural landscape”,and decode the survival experience that the Inuit have accumulated through their long-term synergy with the Arctic environment.The findings focus on the synergy between the Inuit and the ice-snow landscape,examining the knowledge and ecological wisdom that the Inuit acquire from the ice-snow landscape.Our goal is to develop a perspective of the ecological environment from the viewpoint of aboriginal people and establish a methodology,model,and framework for“associative cultural landscape”that incorporates ethnic non-material cultural evidences.From the results,a total of nine models for interpreting traditional Inuit ecological wisdom are generated based on the“diamond model”of“associative cultural landscape”,coverin

ALKBH5 suppresses autophagic flux via N6-methyladenosine demethylation of ZKSCAN3 mRNA in acute pancreatitis

BACKGROUND Increasing evidence has demonstrated that N6-methyladenosine(m6A)RNA modification plays an essential role in a wide range of pathological conditions.Impaired autophagy is a critical hallmark of acute pancreatitis(AP).AIM To explore the role of the m6A modification of ZKSCAN3 in the regulation of autophagy in AP.METHODS The AP mouse cell model was established by cerulein-treated mouse pancreatic acinar cells(MPC-83),and the results were confirmed by the levels of amylase and inflammatory factors.Autophagy activity was evaluated by specific identification of the autophagy-related microstructure and the expression of autophagy-related genes.ZKSCAN3 and ALKBH5 were knocked down to study the function in AP.A m6A RNA binding protein immunoprecipitation assay was used to study how the m6A modification of ZKSCAN3 mRNA is regulated by ALKBH.RESULTS The increased expression of amylase and inflammatory factors in the supernatant and the accumulation of autophagic vacuoles verified that the AP mouse cell model was established.The downregulation of LAMP2 and upregulation of LC3-II/I and SQSTM1 demonstrated that autophagy was impaired in AP.The expression of ZKSCAN3 was upregulated in AP.Inhibition of ZKSCAN3 increased the expression of LAMP2 and decreased the expression of the inflammatory factors,LC3-II/I and SQSTM1.Furthermore,ALKBH5 was upregulated in AP.Knockdown of ALKBH5 downregulated ZKSCAN3 expression and restored decreased autophagic flux in AP.Notably,the bioinformatic analysis revealed 23 potential m6A modification sites on ZKSCAN3 mRNA.The m6A modification of ZKSCAN3 mRNA was significantly decreased in AP.Knockdown of ALKBH5 increased the modification of ZKSCAN3 mRNA,which confirmed that ALKBH5 upregulated ZKSCAN3 expression in a m6A-dependent manner.CONCLUSION ALKBH5 inhibits autophagic flux through m6A demethylation of ZKSCAN3 mRNA in AP,thereby aggravating the severity of the disease.

Anti-aging performance improvement and enhanced combustion efficiency of boron via the coating of PDA

Boron is an ambitious fuel in energetic materials since its high heat release values,but its application is prohibited by low combustion efficiency and oxidization during storage.The polydopamine(PDA)was introduced into boron particles,investigating the impact of PDA content on the energetic behavior of boron.The results indicated that the PDA coating formed a fishing net structure on the surface of boron particles.The heat release results showed that the combustion calorific value of B@PDA was higher than that of the raw boron.Specifically,the actual combustion heat of boron powder in B@10%PDA increased by 38.08%.Meanwhile,the DSC peak temperature decreased by 100.65℃under similar oxidation rate compared to raw boron.Simultaneously,the B@PDA@AP and B@AP composites were prepared,and their combustion properties were evaluated.It was demonstrated that B@10%PDA@AP exhibited superior performance in terms of peak pressure and burning time,respectively.The peak pressure is 12.43 kPa more than B@AP and burning time is 2.22 times higher than B@AP.Therefore,the coating of PDA effectively inhibits the oxidization of boron during storage and enhances the energetic behavior of boron and corresponding composites.

Residual levels and health risk assessment of trace metals in Chinese resident diet

Large-scale metal contamination across the food web is an intractable problem due to increasing pollutant emissions,atmospheric transport,and dry and wet deposition of elements.The present study focus on several trace metals that are rarely studied but have special toxicity,including tin(Sn),antimony(Sb),gold(Au),hafnium(Hf),palladium(Pd),platinum(Pt),ruthenium(Ru),tellurium(Te)and iridium(Ir).We investigated trace metals residues and distribution characteristics,and further evaluated the potential health risks from major daily food intakes in 33 cities in China.Sn,Sb,Ir,Hf,and Au were frequently detected in food samples with the concentrations ranged from ND(not detected)to 24.78μg/kg ww(wet weight).Eggs exhibited the highest residual level of all detected metals(13.70±14.70μg/kg ww in sum),while the lowest concentrations were observed in vegetables(0.53±0.17μg/kg ww in sum).Sn accounting for more than 50%of the total trace metals concentration in both terrestrial and aquatic animal origin foods.In terrestrial plant origin foods,Sn and Ir were the most abundant elements.Hf and Au were the most abundant elements in egg samples.In addition,Sb and Ir showed a clear trophic dilution effect in terrestrial environments,while in aquatic ecosystems,Sn,Hf,and Au exhibited obvious trophic amplification effects.The calculated average estimated daily intake(EDI)via food consumption in five regions of China was 0.09μg/(kg·day),implying the health risk of aforementioned elements was acceptable.

Research on blade tip clearance cavitation and turbulent kinetic energy characteristics of axial flow pump based on the partially-averaged Navier-Stokes model

To reveal the cavitation forms of tip leakage vortex(TLV)of the axial flow pump and the flow mechanism of the flow field,this research adopts the partially-averaged Navier-Stokes(PANS)model to simulate the cavitation values of an axial flow pump,followed by experimental validation.The experimental result shows that compared with the shear stress transport(SST)k-ωmodel,the PANS model significantly reduces the eddy viscosity of the flow field to make the vortex structure clearer and allow the turbulence scale to be more robustly analyzed.The cavitation area within the axial flow pump mainly comprises of TLV cavitation,clearance cavitation and tip leakage flows combined effect of triangular cloud cavitation formed.The formation and development of cavitation are accompanied by the formation and evolution of vortex,and variations in vortex structure also generate and promote the development of cavitation.In addition,an in-depth analysis of the relationship between the turbulent kinetic energy(TKE)transport equation and cavitation patterns was also conducted,finding that the regions with relatively high TKE are mainly distributed around gas/liquid boundaries with serious cavitation and evident gas-liquid change.This phenomenon is mainly attributed to the combined effect of the pressure action term,stress diffusion term and TKE production term.

Synthesis of a High-Efficiency Demulsifier and Study on Optimal Demulsification Conditions

Oil and water separation has always been a top priority in the oil industry.In this study,a series of hyperbranched fluorinated polyamine-amine polymers(HFPA1-5)were synthesized directly using an improved“one-pot method.”The highly active fluorinated p-trifluoromethylaniline was used as the core raw material,while diethylenetriamine and methyl acrylate were used as the chain segment.A hyperbranched fluorine-containing polyamine-amine demulsifier(NHFPA6)was obtained through nano-grafting copolymerization of HFPA5.To enhance the demulsification and dehydration performance,the copolymerized HFPA6 was modified and combined.Then,the effects of the combination ratio,demulsifier concentration,demulsification time,and demulsification temperature on the demulsification effect were investigated.The results revealed that a combination ratio of DE-401:NHFPA6=1:1,a demulsification temperature of 50℃,a demulsification time of 60 min,and a demulsifier concentration of 150 mg/L yielded a dehydration rate as high as 99.80%.A response surface optimization design of demulsification conditions was performed.The model verified that the optimal demulsification conditions were 50℃,300 mg/L,and 90 min.However,considering the economic benefits of factories,it is more favorable to select demulsification conditions with a shorter time and lower concentration when the dehydration standard is met.Therefore,the demulsification conditions were selected as 50℃,150 mg/L,and 60 min.Compared to existing demulsifiers,the demulsifier developed in this study exhibits a lower demulsification temperature and higher demulsification efficiency.

Energy-Efficient Driving Strategy for High-Speed Trains with Considering the Checkpoints

With rising energy prices and concerns about environmental issues,energy-efficient driving strategies(EEDS) for high-speed trains have received a substantial amount of attention.In particular,energy-saving schemes play a huge role in reducing the energy and operating costs of trains.This article studies the EEDS of high-speed trains at a given time.A well-posed model is formulated,in which the constraints of the checkpoints,in addition to the speed limits,vehicle dynamics,and discrete control throttle,are first considered.For a given control sequence,the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker(KKT) conditions are used to obtain the necessary conditions for an EEDS.According to several key equations of the necessary conditions,the checkpoint constraints are satisfied.Some case studies are conducted based on the data of the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed line to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Configuration and Kinematics of a 3-DOF Generalized Spherical Parallel Mechanism for Ankle Rehabilitation

The kinematic equivalent model of an existing ankle-rehabilitation robot is inconsistent with the anatomical structure of the human ankle,which influences the rehabilitation effect.Therefore,this study equates the human ankle to the UR model and proposes a novel three degrees of freedom(3-DOF)generalized spherical parallel mechanism for ankle rehabilitation.The parallel mechanism has two spherical centers corresponding to the rotation centers of tibiotalar and subtalar joints.Using screw theory,the mobility of the parallel mechanism,which meets the requirements of the human ankle,is analyzed.The inverse kinematics are presented,and singularities are identified based on the Jacobian matrix.The workspaces of the parallel mechanism are obtained through the search method and compared with the motion range of the human ankle,which shows that the parallel mechanism can meet the motion demand of ankle rehabilitation.Additionally,based on the motion-force transmissibility,the performance atlases are plotted in the parameter optimal design space,and the optimum parameter is obtained according to the demands of practical applications.The results show that the parallel mechanism can meet the motion requirements of ankle rehabilitation and has excellent kinematic performance in its rehabilitation range,which provides a theoretical basis for the prototype design and experimental verification.
