This paper presents a copula technique to develop time-variant seismic fragility curves for corroded bridges at the system level and considers the realistic time-varying dependence among component seismic demands. Based on material deterioration mechanisms and incremental dynamic analysis, the time-evolving seismic demands of components were obtained in the form of marginal probability distributions. The time-varying dependences among bridge components were then captured with the best fitting copula function, which was selected from the commonly used copula classes by the empirical distribution based analysis method. The system time-variant fragility curves at different damage states were developed and the effects of time-varying dependences among components on the bridge system fragility were investigated. The results indicate the time-varying dependence among components significantly affects the time-variant fragility of the bridge system. The copula technique captures the nonlinear dependence among component seismic demands accurately and easily by separating the marginal distributions and the dependence among them.

Urban areas are generally regarded as major sources of some semivolatile organic compounds and other persistent organic pollutants（POPs） to the surrounding regions. Huge differences in contaminant emissions between urban and rural areas directly affect their fate in environmental media. Little is known about POPs behavior between urban and rural areas at a regional scale. A spatially resolved Berkeley-Trent-Urban-Rural Fate Model（BETR-UR） was designed by coupling land cover information to simulate the transport of POPs between urban and rural areas, and the Bohai Rim was used as a case study to estimate Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon（PAH） fate. The processes of contaminant fate including emission, inter-compartmental transfer, advection and degradation in urban and rural areas were simulated in the model. Simulated PAH concentrations in environmental media of urban and rural areas were very close to measured values. The model accuracy was highly improved, with the average absolute relative error for PAH concentrations reduced from 37% to 3% compared with unimproved model results. PAH concentrations in urban soil and air were considerably higher than those in rural areas. Sensitivity analysis showed temperature was the most influential parameter for Phen rather than for Bap, whose fate was more influenced by emission rate, compartment dimension, transport velocity and chemical persistence. Uncertainty analysis indicated modeled results in urban media had higher uncertainty than those in rural areas due to larger variations of emissions in urban areas. The differences in urban and rural areas provided us with valuable guidance on policy setting for urban–rural POP control.

An electrochemical synthesis of functionalized （aza）indolines through dehydrogenative [3＋2] annulation of arylamines with tethered alkenes has been developed. Previous reported syntheses through similar inter- and intramolecular annulation reactions required noble-metal catalysts and are mostly limited to terminal alkenes or 1,3-dienes. The electrosynthesis employs the easily available and inexpensive ferrocene as the molecular catalyst and is compatible with di-, tri- and even tetrasubstituted alkenes to construct indolines as well as the more challenging azaindolines. Employing the newly developed electrosynthesis as a key step, the total synthesis of marine alkaloid （＋）-hinckdentine A has been achieved in 12 steps （longest linear sequence） from commercially available materials.

Emission intensity and climate change control the transport flux and fate of persistent organic pollutants(POPs)inmultiple environmental *** study applied amultimedia model(BETR model)to explore alternations in the spatio-temporal trends of concentrations and transport flux of benzopyrene(BaP),phenanthrene(Phe),perfluorooctane sulfonates(PFOS)and polychlorinated biphenyls(PCBs)in the Chaohu watershed,located in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River,China in response to changes in source emissions and *** potential historic and future risks of these pollutants also were *** results suggest that current trends in concentrations and transport were similar to that of their emissions between 2005 and *** the next 100 years,temporal trends and spatial patterns were not predicted to change significantly,which is consistent with climate *** on sensitivity and correlation analyses,climate change had significant effects on multi-media concentrations and transport fluxes of BaP,Phe,PFOS and PCBs,and rainfall intensity was the predominant controlling *** quotients(RQs)of BaP and Phe-in soil increased from 0.42 to 0.95 and 0.06 to 0.35,respectively,from 2005 to 2090,indicating potential *** RQs of the other examined contaminants exhibited little potential risk in soil,water,or *** on spatial patterns,it was inferred that the ecosystem around Lake Chaohu is the most at *** study provides insights needed for local pollution control of POPs in the Chaohu *** addition,the developed approach can be applied to other watersheds world-wide.

5,10,15,20-Tetrakis（4-amidinophenyl）porphyrin（Por 1）,its Zn complex（Por 2）and amidinophenyl bispophyrin（Por 3）interacting with calf thymus DNA were investigated by scanning electron microscopy（SEM）and the shape and size of the porphyrin–DNA complexes were observed after photo *** results showed that the shape and size of DNA had signifcant differences with blank group by virtue of the interaction between the porphyrins and *** suggests the morphological characterization could be used to study the interaction and judge DNA photocleavage activity indirectly through the photo irradiation of porphyrins.

The simulations of a heat wave occurring in southern Yangtze-Huaihe valley and southern China during late July,2003 were conducted to examine the sensitivity of simulated surface air temperature(SAT) to different land surface schemes(LSSs) using the Weather Research and Forecasting Model(WRF) Version 2.2 in the short-range mode for 24-h *** and boundary conditions employed a National Centers for Environmental Prediction(NCEP) *** results showed that,overall,simulated high-temperature weather is sensitive to different *** differences in simulated SAT intensity,threat score,and simulated error under different schemes are identified *** addition,some systematic differences are also in-duced by the *** terms of threat score from the three LSSs,SLAB is the best,and RUC is better than *** gives the lowest absolute error for area-averaged SAT,and tends to depict the western Pacific subtropical high with the east-ernmost position at low *** LSSs modify the simulated SAT,primarily via the transfer of sensible heat from the land surface to the *** physical mechanism of the positive feedback between atmospheric circulation and the SAT is unimportant,with"negative"feedback over most of the simulated *** study emphasizes the importance of improving LSSs in SAT forecasting by numerical models.

Objective： To assess the antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory properties of the aqueous extract of Armadillidium vulgare（AV）. Methods： The antinociceptive effect of AV（400, 600 and 800 mg/kg） was investigated in mice using the acetic acid-induced writhing, formalin-induced nociceptive, and hot plate tests. Phlogogen-induced paw edema using carrageenan, dextran, or compound 48/80 as phlogogen was used as inflammatory models to evaluate AV＇s anti-inflammatory effect. Additionally, the bioactive substances glucosamine（GLc N） and taurine in AV were determined using high-performance liquid chromatography. Results： Oral treatment of the mice with AV（600 and 800 mg/kg） significantly reduced the number of writhes in the acetic acid-induced writhing test（P〈0.01） but not the hot plate test（P〉0.05）. All doses tested significantly inhibited paw-withdrawal during the second phase of the formalin-induced nociceptive model（P〈0.01）. AV demonstrated a strong anti-inflammatory effect in all those inflammatory models（P〈0.05）. Conclusions： AV has antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory effects, providing scientific evidence of the efficacy of its traditional use in pain treatment. Furthermore, GLc N and taurine contribute, at least in part, to the anti-inflammatory activity of AV.

Efficacy and Safety of COX-2 Inhibitor Parecoxib for Rigid Cystoscopyrelated Pain Management in Male Patients:A Prospective,Randomized and Controlled Study

Using anesthetic gel may not sufficiently exclude pain perception during and after cystoscopy in male *** evaluate the analgesic efficacy and safety of intramuscular parecoxib(40 mg)for outpatient-based rigid cystoscopy,we performed a prospective,randomized and controlled *** male patients requiring diagnostic cystoscopy in our hospital were divided into group A(1%tetracaine gel,n=50)and group B(parecoxib,n^5l)at *** received intramuscular injections of either 2 mL sterile saline in group A or 40 mg parecoxib in group B 30 min before the *** gel was injected into the urethra 3 min before the procedure in group A,with patients receiving plain lubricant gel in group B at the same ***-associated pain levels were evaluated using the Visual Analog Score(VAS)during the ***-procedure urethral pain and complications were recorded and *** results showed that male patients experienced significantly less pain in group B than in group A(2.70±1.36 V5.3.56±1.74,P=0.008).The percentage of patients with dysuria pain was not significantly different between the two *** addition,24 h after cystoscopy,the patients with no previous experience of cystoscopy were more likely to declare urethral pain(59.2%vs.33.3%,P=0.012,relative risk=1.78).No difference was observed in analgesic-related complications between the two *** conclude that intramuscular injection of 40 mg parecoxib may improve comfort for male patients undergoing rigid cystoscopy.

Objective： To investigate the antipyretic mechanism of Herba Ephedrae （Eph）-Ramulus Cinnamomi （RC） herb pair on yeast-induced pyrexia in rats. Methods： Totally 30 qualified male SD rats were randomly assigned to the normal control （NC） group, the pyrexia model （model） group, the Eph, RC and Eph-RC treatment groups by a random digital table, 6 rats in each group. Each rat received a 20% aqueous suspension of yeast （10 mL/kg） except the NC group. The 3 treatment groups were administered 8.1, 5.4 and 13.5 g/kg Eph, RC and Eph-RC respectively at 5 and 12 h after yeast injection, the NC group and the model groups were administered equal volume of distilled water. Rectal temperatures were measured at 0, 6, 8, 10, 12, 15, 18, 24 and 30 h and urine was collected prior to yeast injection and at 6, 10, 18, 24, 30, and 36 h after yeast injection. Then urine metabolomic profiling by gas chromatography tandem mass spectrometry, coupled with multivariate statistical analysis and pattern recognition techniques were used to explore the antipyretic effects of Eph-RC. Partial least squares discriminate analysis was used to analyze the metabolomics dataset including classification and regression in metabolomics plot profiling. Results： Compared with the NC group, rectal temperatures were significantly higher in the model group （P〈0.01）, while 3 treatment groups decreased significantly compared with the model group （P〈0.05 or P〈0.01）. Rectal temperatures of Eph-RC-treated rats started to go down at 6 h, and markedly decreased at 8, 12, 15, 18 and 24 h （P〈0.05 or P〈0.01）, while those of the Eph and RC groups had decreased firstly at 8 h and were markedly lower at 12 h （P〈0.05 or P〈0.01）. Seventeen potential biomarkers related to pyrexia were confirmed and identified, including pyruvic acid, L-phenylalanine, L-tyrosine, phenylacetic acid, hippuric acid, succinic acid, citrate and so on.
