Numerical simulations for radon migration and exhalation behavior during measuring radon exhalation rate with closed-loop method

Accurate measurements of the radon exhalation rate help identify and evaluate radon risk regions in the *** these measurement methods,the closed-loop method is frequently ***,traditional experiments are insufficient or cannot analyze the radon migration and exhalation patterns at the gas–solid interface in the accumulation *** CFD-based technique was applied to predict the radon concentration distribution in a limited space,allowing radon accumulation and exhalation inside the chamber intuitively and *** this study,three radon exhalation rates were defined,and two structural ventilation tubes were designed for the *** consistency of the simulated results with the variation in the radon exhalation rate in a previous experiment or analytical solution was *** effects of the vent tube structure and flow rate on the radon uniformity in the chamber;permeability,insertion depth,and flow rate on the radon exhalation rate and the effective diffusion coefficient on back-diffusion were *** on the results,increasing the inser-tion depth from 1 to 5 cm decreased the effective decay constant by 19.55%,whereas the curve-fitted radon exhalation rate decreased(lower than the initial value)as the deviation from the initial value increased by approximately 7%.Increasing the effective diffusion coefficient from 2.77×10^(-7) to 7.77×10^(-6) m^(2) s^(-1) made the deviation expand from 2.14 to 15.96%.The conclusion is that an increased insertion depth helps reduce leakage in the chamber,subject to notable back-diffusion,and that the closed-loop method is reasonably used for porous media with a low effective diffusion coefficient in view of the back-diffusion *** CFD-based simulation is expected to provide guidance for the optimization of the radon exhalation rate measurement method and,thus,the accurate measurement of the radon exhalation rate.

Europium-bearing organic framework with excellent X-ray scintillating luminescence

Two europium-bearing organic frameworks,termed as EuTPO-1 and EuTPO-2(H_(3)TPO=tris(4-carboxylphenyI)-phosphineoxide),are reported in this work.A series of characterizations of EuTPO-1and EuTPO-2,such as X-ray crystallography and photoluminescence spectroscopy,was performed to expatiate their structure and physicochemical *** of them are constructed by dimers of the europium-oxygen subunit of [Eu_(2)O_(16)] and TPO *** from high X-ray stopping attenuation and excellent luminescence efficiency,they emit sufficient luminescence when irradiated with ***,they possess stable light outputs when exposed to high humidities and strong radiation dose,outperforming the commercial scintillator CsI:*** result paves the way for developing new scintillator and enriches the compound of europium-bearing organic framework with X-ray scintillating luminescence.

Polymorphisms of angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 gene confer a risk to lone atrial fibrillation in Chinese male patients

Background Growing epidemiologic evidence has indicated that genetics can predispose individuals to the occurrence of lone atrial fibrillation （AF）. The angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 （ACE2） gene has been established to be associated with hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy. The objective of our study was to investigate the association of ACE2 gene polymorphisms with lone AF. Methods A total of 265 consecutive lone AF patients and 289 healthy controls were successfully investigated. The polymorphisms rs2106809 and rs2285666 were genotyped by polymerase chain reaction （PCR） and direct sequencing. A Logistic regression model was used to determine the odds ratio （OR） and 95% confidence intervals （CO of variations of ACE2 for lone AF. Results The T allele of rs2106809 conferred an increased risk for lone AF （OR 1.24, 95% CI 1.01-1.52, P=0.03） in males after adjustment for conventional risk factors. SNP at rs2285666 in males was not significantly different between AF patients and controls. No association was found between the two polymorphisms in the female population with lone AF. After （36.3±4.5） months of follow-up, the end point data were obtained： death （cardiac and noncardiac）, ischemic stroke, and heart failure. In the male subgroup, the associations between rs2106809 T male carriers and combined end points including ischemic stroke, heart failure, and death in our study were of significance （OR 3.6, 95% CI 1.0-13.1, P=-0.04）. Conclusions The results indicate that polymorphism at ACE2 gene is associated with male lone AF in a Chinese Han population. PVP/PAN-derived porous carbon fiber for zinc-ion hybrid supercapacitors

Porous carbon fibers are promising cathodes for zinc-ion hybrid supercapacitors(ZHSs)owing to their abundant active sites,great conductivity,and stable physical and chemical ***,designing a proper preparation technique to regulate the microstructure of carbon fibers still remains a great ***,a poly vinylpyrrolidone/po-lyacry lonitrile(PVP/PAN)-derived porous carbon fiber is developed via the PVP/PAN blend electrospinning and hydrothermal selective PVP removal *** hydrothermal selective PVP removal strategy can effectively avoid a cross-linking between PVP and PAN during the traditional stabilization at air *** PVP/PAN-derived porous carbon fiber,the sufficient micropores provide abundant space for the Zn^(2+)storage,whereas the proper mesopores contribute to the fast ion *** hierarchical porous structures endow ZHSs with high specific capacity and high-rate *** ZHS assembled with the optimal PVP/PAN-derived porous carbon fiber(PVP-PANC-0.8)displays an outstanding specific capacity of 208 mAh·g^(-1),high rate capability(49.5%)from 0.5 to 5 A·g^(-1),and 72.25%capacity retention after 10,000 cycles at 0.5 A·g^(-1).

Aeroengines,as the sole power source for aircraft,play a vital role in ensuring flight *** gas path,which represents the fundamental pathway for airflow within an aeroengine,directly impacts the aeroengine's performance,fuel efficiency,and ***,timely and accurate evaluation of gas path performance is of paramount *** paper proposes a knowledge and data jointly driven aeroengine gas path performance assessment method,combining Fingerprint and gas path parameter deviation ***,Fingerprint is used to correct gas path parameter deviation values,eliminating parameter shifts caused by non-component performance ***,coarse errors are removed using the Romanovsky criterion for short-term data divided by an equal-length overlapping sliding ***,an Ensemble Empirical Mode Decomposition and Non-Local Means(EEMD-NLM)filtering method is designed to“clean”data noise,completing the preprocessing for gas path parameter deviation ***,based on the characteristics of gas path parameter deviation values,a Dynamic Temporary Blended Network(DTBN)model is built to extract its temporal features,cascaded with Multi-Layer Perceptron(MLP),and combined with Fingerprint to construct a Dynamic Temporary Blended AutoEncoder(DTB-AutoEncoder).Eventually,by training this improved autoencoder,the aeroengine gas path multi-component performance assessment model is formed,which can sufficiently decouple the nonlinear mapping relationship between aeroengine gas path multi-component performance degradation and gas path parameter deviation values,thereby achieving the performance assessment of engine gas path *** practical application cases,the effectiveness of this model in assessing the aeroengine gas path multi-component performance is verified.

Hydrogen release of NaBH_(4) below 60 ℃ with binary eutectic mixture of xylitol and erythritol additive

NaBH_(4) was widely regarded as a low-cost hydrogen storage material due to its high-mass hydrogen capacity of approximately 10.8%(mass)and high volumetric hydrogen capacity of around 115 g·L^(–1).However,it exhibits strong stability and requires temperatures above 500℃ for hydrogen release in practical *** this study,two polyhydric alcohols,xylitol and erythritol(XE),were prepared as a binary eutectic sugar alcohol through a grinding-melting *** binary eutectic sugar alcohol was used as a proton-hydrogen carrier to destabilize NaBH_(4).The 19NaBH_(4)-16XE composite material prepared by ball milling could start releasing hydrogen at 57.5℃,and the total hydrogen release can reach over 88.8%(4.45%(mass))of the theoretical *** the 19NaBH_(4)-16XE composite was pressed into solid blocks,the volumetric hydrogen capacity of the block-shaped composite could reach 67.2 g·L^(–1).By controlling the temperature,the hydrogen desorption capacity of the NaBH_(4)-XE composite material was controllable,which has great potential for achieving solid-state hydrogen production from NaBH_(4).

How interfacial electron-donating defects influence the structure and charge of gold nanoparticles on TiO_(2)support

The reduction degree of TiO_(2)support is critical to the performances of metal *** many previous theoretical calculations,only the bridge oxygen vacancy(Ov)was considered as the electron-donating defect on reduced rutile TiO_(2)(r-TiO_(2−x))***,titanium adatoms(Tiad.),oxidized titanium islands(***),and acid hydroxyls(ObrH)also exist at the metal/support *** conducting density functional theory(DFT)calculations and ab initio molecular dynamics(AIMD)simulations,we compared r-TiO_(2−x)surfaces with Ov,Tiad.,***,and ObrH sites loaded with Au nanoparticles(NPs).The results showed the Au NPs were oxygen-phobic but titanium-philic,resulting in wetting of Ov and *** short contact with *** and *** Bader charges of Au NPs(QM)showed a good linear relationship with the ideal number of donating electrons(Ne)from the defective sites(QM=−KeNe+QM,S),demonstrating the intrinsic electron allocation at the *** Ov,Tiad.,and *** exhibited similar slopes(Ke),relatively steeper than that of *** means in the scope of Au NP charge state,the *** *** have a close electron-donating ability with Ov,but the ObrH donates relatively fewer *** linear relationship can be extended approximately to other *** higher the metal work function,the steeper the Ke for easier electron donation from defective *** stronger the metal oxygen affinity,the more positive the intercept(QM,S).That explains the easy generation of metallic or negative Pt and Au NPs on r-TiO_(2−x),but hard for Cu and Zn in *** provides theoretical guidance for regulating the charge of metal NPs over TiO_(2−x)supports.

Dear Editor,Major depressive disorder(MDD)is one of the most common psychiatric illnesses that significantly increase the risk of suicide.1 Stress-triggered dysfunctions of microglia have been identified as a commonly occurred pathological feature of MDD.1–3 Microglial dysfunction contributes to the pathogenesis of MDD via immunoresponses/neuroinflammation-mediated neural damage and pathological synapse loss-mediated neural circuit disruption.1 Although the involvement of microglia in MDD has been widely investigated,the molecular mechanisms underlying microglial dysfunction remain largely ***,we identified glutaminase 1(Gls1)as one key protein that participates in microglial dysfunction.4–6 Gls1 catalyzes the hydrolysis of glutamine to produce glutamate in the brain.4 Besides its well-known role in excitatory neurotoxicity,we found Gls1 up-regulation in microglia in animal models of Alzheimer’s disease and ischemic stroke.4,7 Gls1 activates microglia to overproduce cytokines and release inflammatory extracellular vesicles,therefore leading to neuroinflammation in animal models of Alzheimer’s disease and ischemic stroke.4–6 More importantly,Gls1 has been found to be up-regulated in the brains of MDD patients,and microglial Gls1 deficiency mitigated LPS-induced depression-like behaviors.8 However,LPS exposure is not an appropriate model to mimic MDD phenotypes,leaving the involvement of Gls1 in MDD an undetermined question.

In this paper,the approximate synchronization of leader-follower multiagent systems(MASs) over finite fields is studied in regard to local and global ***,the approximately synchronous state set(ASSS) is ***,combined with ASSS and transient periods,some criteria for the local and global approximate synchronization of systems are ***,the algorithms for calculating the maximum approximately synchronous basin(MASB) and the maximum control invariant set(MCIS) are ***,the global approximate synchronization of the system is achieved by designing the state feedback control,and a design algorithm of the controller using the truth matrix method is ***,the results of approximate synchronization are degenerated to complete ***,two examples are shown to demonstrate the results of this paper.

Testing the first law of black hole mechanics with gravitational waves

The successful observation of gravitational waves has provided humanity with an additional method to explore the universe,particularly black *** this study,we utilize data from LIGO and Virgo gravitational wave observations to test the first law of black hole mechanics,employing two different *** consider the secondary compact object as a perturbation to the primary black hole before the merger,and the remnant black hole as a stationary black hole after the *** the pre-merger and post-merger analysis,our results demonstrate consistency with the first law,with an error level of approximate 25%at a68%credibility level for *** the full inspiral-merger-ringdown analysis,our results show consistency with the first law of black hole mechanics,with an error level of about 6%at a 68%credibility level and 10%at a 95%credibility level for ***,we observe that the higher the mass ratio of the gravitational wave source,the more consistent our results are with the first law of black hole ***,our study sheds light on the nature of compact binary coalescence and their implications for black hole mechanics.
