By applying the second order Melnikov function, the chaos behaviors of a bistable piezoelectric cantilever power generation system are analyzed. Firstly, the conditions for emerging chaos of the system are derived by the second order Melnikov function. Secondly, the effects of each item in chaos threshold expression are analyzed. The excitation frequency and resistance values, which have the most influence on chaos threshold value, are found. The result from the second order Melnikov function is more accurate compared with that from the first order Melnikov function. Finally, the attraction basins of large amplitude motions under different exciting frequency, exciting amplitude, and resistance parameters are given.

There are many reports about the abnormal electromagnetic signals observed before great earthquakes. In particular, the signals of electromagnetic anomalies before the Hyogo-Ken Nanbu, Japan, MS=7.2 earthquake on January 17, 1995 (Hayakawa, et al, 1996) and those before the Loma Prieta, USA, MS=7.1 earthquake on October 19, 1989 (Fraser-Smith, et al, 1990) are especially remarkable. However, what the above authors reported are only the phenomena of one or two observatories. In order to confirm this phenomenon, the authors studied the results obtained by nine observatories in the southeast coastal areas of Chinese mainland within a range of 256~858 km to the epicenter of the 1999 Jiji, Taiwan, earthquake using instruments of the same type (the ULF/VLF electromag-netic wave observation system). By summarizing the data for the three months up to the time of earthquake occur-rence, the authors obtained the regional distribution of the signals of electromagnetic anomalies before the earth-quake and their features in the time domain and frequency domain.

CPDT-TCNQ and its derivatives are good candidates for charge-transfer acceptors. In this work, the electronic ground and excited states of CPDT-TCNQ as well as its difluoro and dimethyl derivatives are studied. The ground state optimized structures and energies were obtained using a restricted （closed-shell） density functional theory （DFT） as approximated by the various hybrid functionals （RB3LYP, RB3P86, RB3PW91）. The 6-31G＊＊ and 6-31＋G＊＊ basis sets were employed in calculations. All derivatives are planar and exhibit a quinoid structure in their electronic ground states. The energy and oscillator strength of the first 15 singlet-singlet electronic transitions have been investigated by applying the dine-dependent density functional theory （TD-DFT） approximations to the correspondingly optimized ground state geometries. The results show the strongest absorption in electronic spectra of molecules due to the HOMO-LUMO electronic transition of the thiophene backbone.

Stigma exsertion in male sterile lines of hybrid rice is important for seed *** the present study, ZS616 [Oryza sativa ***(indica)], a male sterile line with a stigma exsertion rate(SER) as high as 94.5%, was crossed to DS552, a japonica line with almost no exserted stigmas.F3 plants with extremely low and high SER were sequenced to identify SER-associated quantitative trait loci(QTL).A major QTL for SER, qSER-3.1, was identified along with other QTL on chromosome 3 in a 3.9 Mb region.A total of 307 nonsynonymous single-nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) and 27 frame-shift insertion/deletions(InDels)differentiating ZS616 and DS552 were identified in the region containing *** SNPs(294) and InDels(25) were excluded after further analysis because they were shared by ZS616 and low(<2.0%) SER accessions in the Huazhong Agricultural University(HAU) core rice *** analysis using the full HAU collection identified a 17-bp InDel in OS03 G0689400 as the most likely causal genetic variant underlying ***616-type accessions(n = 54, with the 17-bp insertion) in the HAU collection had minimum(16.5%)and mean(39.6%) SERs significantly greater than those(n = 424) without the insertion(with minimum and mean SERs of 0.2% and 20.6%, respectively).Thus, this study identified a major QTL for stigma exsertion and revealed the mutation in a candidate gene for the QTL.

Real-Time Publish and Subscribe (RTPS) protocol is a protocol for implementing message exchange over an unreliable transport in data distribution service (DDS). Formal modelling and verification of the protocol provide stronger guarantees of its correctness and efficiency than testing alone. In this paper, we build formal models for the RTPS protocol using UPPAAL and Simulink/Stateflow. Modelling using Simulink/Stateflow allows analyzing the protocol through simula-tion, as well as generate executable code. Modelling using UPPAAL allows us to verify properties of the model stated in TCTL (Timed Computation Tree Logic), as well as estimate its performance using statistical model checking. We further describe a procedure for translation from Stateflow to timed automata, where a subset of major features in Stateflow is supported, and prove the soundness statement that the Stateflow model is a refinement of the translated timed automata model. As a consequence, any property in a certain fragment of TCTL that we have verified for the timed automata model in UPPAAL is preserved for the original Stateflow model.

Feature selection is a challenging problem in pattern recognition and machine learning. In real-life applications, feature set in the decision systems may vary over time. There are few studies on feature selection with the variation of feature set. This paper focuses on this issue, an incremental feature selection algorithm in dynamic decision systems is developed based on dependency function. The incremental algorithm avoids some recomputations, rather than retrain the dynamic decision system as new one to compute the feature subset from scratch. We firstly employ an incremental manner to update the new dependency function, then we incorporate the calculated dependency function into the incremental feature selection algorithm. Compared with the direct(non-incremental) algorithm, the computational efficiency of the proposed algorithm is improved. The experimental results on different data sets from UCI show that the proposed algorithm is effective and efficient.
